Possible Protective Anticancer effect of Ethanol Fraction of Iraqi Hibiscus Tiliaceus L. Leaves Extract on Diethylnitrosamine-induced Hepatocarcinogenesis in Male Rats
...Show More Authors

Abstract  Liver cancer with hepatocellular carcinoma a serious clinical illness that progresses quickly and has a bad prognosis because to increased malignancy. Fibrosis is the precursor of liver cancer, which progresses to cirrhosis and carcinoma Diethylnitrosamine (DEN) is a chemical molecule that has been used as a carcinogenic agent to promote cancer in test animals because of its strong carcinogenic potential. Herbal plants have long been used as inexpensive, effective alternatives to pharmaceuticals in various liver-associated complications, since they contain many bioactive compounds useful in liver disorders. Hibiscus tiliaceus L. (Malvaceae) contain various phytochemicals in the plant extracts such as Flavonoids, phenols, alkaloids, Tannins, Saponins, Quinones, Coumarine, Triterpenoids, glycosides and Steroids. Thus, has various health benefits, and have medicinal and therapeutic values, It could be a source of natural antioxidants, antimicrobials, hepatoprotective compounds, and antimutagenic effects. The study was designed To study the possible protective role of Iraqi Hibiscus tiliaceus L. ethanol leaves extract administered in two different doses on diethylnitrosamine induced liver carcinoma in male Wistar Albino rats. Rats utilized in this study were randomized into 4 groups (six rats per each group); Group I: (Control) Rats were administered oral daily dose of 1ml /kg/day of distilled water for 20 weeks; Group II: rats intraperitoneally injected with 70 mg/kg diethyl nitrosamine once per week for 10 continuous weeks; Group III: Rats were administered 250mg/kg of Iraqi Hibiscus tiliaceus L.  ethanol leaves extract as chronic oral administration with food for 5 days per week for 20 weeks and subsequently intraperitoneal dose of diethylnitrosamine (70 mg/kg) once per week for 10 continuous weeks; Groups IV: Rats were administered 500mg/kg of Hibiscus tiliaceus L. ethanol leaves extract as chronic oral administration with food for 5 days per week for 20 weeks with subsequently intraperitoneal dose of diethylnitrosamine (70 mg/kg) once per week for 10 continuous weeks. The finding revealed that Iraqi Hibiscus tiliaceus L.  ethanol leaves extract showed significant reduction (P<0.05) in malondialdehyde, alpha fetoprotein (AFP), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST), total bilirubin (TSB), pro-inflammatory cytokines include transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ), tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) and significant elevation (P<0.05) of anti-oxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) in dose dependent manner. In conclusion this study demonstrated that the chemoprotective role of Hibiscus tiliaceus L. ethanol leaves extract might be explained by; lowered levels of hepatic enzymes, pro-inflammatory cytokines, and antioxidant levels, as well as decreased levels of alpha fetoprotein (AFP), the gold standard for detecting hepatocellular carcinoma.

Morphological, histochemical and histological study of the ileum in the Iraqi Black Partridge (Francolinus francolinus)
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Objective: This project aimed to study the morphological description and histological structure of ileum in Iraqi black partridge (Francolinus francolinus). Methods: To conduct this investigation, 20 healthy Iraqi black partridge were collected from local suppliers. Birds were euthanized, dissected and then specimens were processed for histological and histochemical staining techniques. Results: A morphological study showed that the ileum appears as a short narrow tubular structure. It extends from the wide end of the jejunum and ends in the Ileo-caecal junction region. Histologically, the wall ileum consists of four tunica mucosa, submucosa, muscularis and </p> ... Show More

The Relationship between Willingness to Communicate in English and Psychological Adjustment of Iraqi EFL Learners
...Show More Authors

The current research aims to examine the willingness to communicate and psychological adjustment of Iraqi EFL undergraduate students. To achieve the main aim, a sample of 100 male and female Iraqis’ undergraduate students studying English as a foreign language was chosen randomly from two different public colleges in Baghdad city for the academic year 2023-2024. Two scales have five Likert alternatives of 17 and 16 items developed by McCroskey & Richmond (1990) and Wais (2010), respectively were administered to the research sample to collect the needed data. The results revealed that Iraqi EFL undergraduate students have a willingness to communicate in the English language. Iraqi EFL undergraduate students have a good level of

Serum ferritin level and B12 in a sample of Iraqi re-current aphthous stomatitis patients
...Show More Authors

Background: Recurrent aphthous stomatitis (RAS) is one of the most common oral mucosal disorders with a prevalence of 50-66%. The prevalence of hematinic deficiencies including ferritin and vitamin B12 deficiencies and their role in the prophylaxis and development of RAS is not well known. Many studies have demonstrated a high prevalence of hematinic deficiencies in patients with RAS. This study aimed to compare the serum level of ferritin and vitamin B12 in patients with recurrent aphthous ulcers and healthy controls. Subjects, Materials and Methods: The data were collected from patients who needed blood analysis to exclude anemia from November 2020 to May 2021. The study was approved by the institutional ethics committee. After recordi

Increasing of Naphthenes Content in Naphtha by Using Y and  Zeolite Prepared from Iraqi Kaolin
...Show More Authors

This work dealt with separation of naphthenic hydrocarbons from non-naphthenic hydrocarbons and in particular concerns an improved process for increasing the naphthenes concentration in naphtha, The separation was examined using adsorption by Y and  B zeolite in a fixed bed process. The concentration of naphthenes in the influent and effluent streams was determined using PONA classification. The effect of different operating variables such as feed flow rate (2- 4 L/hr); bed length (50 - 80 cm) on the adsorption capacity of Y and  zeolite was studied. Increasing the bed length lead to increase the naphthenes concentration, and increasing the flow rate lead to decrease in the concentration of naphthenes, It was found that the decrease

Diabetic nephropathy is characterized by persistent microalbuminuria and metabolic changes that decline renal functions. Researchers have been prompted to explore new biomarkers such as KIM-1 and nephrin that may enhance the identification of disease. Objective: To Evaluate biomarker levels of kidney injury molculre-1 (KIM-1) concentration and nephrin as early and sensitive markers of nephropathy in type 2 diabetic patients. Method: One hundred T2DM patients were included in a cross-sectional study at the specialized center for endocrinology and diabetes, Baghdad. The first group includes 50 diabetic nephropathy (DN) patients, and the second group includes 50 T2DM patients without DN. Biochemical and clinical parameters were reported for pa
