Nurses’ Performance and Perceived Barriers Regarding Pressure Ulcers’ Prevention for Critically Ill Patients at Baghdad Teaching Hospitals
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Background and Objectives:

Pressure ulcers are one of the most common hospital-acquired major conditions that occur in patients with mobility limitations and result in endangering patient safety, prolonging hospital stay, disability, and death. This study aims to examine the level of nurses’ practices and perceived barriers for preventing pressure ulcers among critically ill patients.

Materials and Methods:

A cross-sectional survey was conducted among nurses working in critical care units (CCUs) at a tertiary teaching hospital in Baghdad, Iraq, between January 2024 and June 2024. A non-probability purposive sampling technique was carried out involving 100 nurses with at least 6 months of experience in critical care units. The data were collected using a structured interviewing questionnaire to assess nurses’ sociodemographic characteristics and an observational checklist to assess nurses’ practice regarding pressure ulcer prevention. The questionnaire also assessed nurses’ perceived barriers for pressure ulcer prevention. Data analysis was performed using SPSS version 26, applying descriptive and inferential statistics, including the Chi-square test, with a significance level set at P < 0.05.

Results:

This study found that 54% of nurses were males with a mean age of 28.21 within years, ranging from 18 to 54 years. Most nurses held bachelor’s degree in nursing (65%), 43% of them had <5 years of experience working in CCUs, and 45% and there was moderately of them had 1–5 years of experience in the nursing profession. Fifty-six percent of nurses were single and the same percentage received training about pressure ulcer preventions. Nurses in the critical care units were found to have a satisfactory level of practices withing (61%) of them and have moderately high levels (M±SD: 0.66 ± 0.45) of perceived barriers towards pressure ulcer prevention. A significant relationship was found between nurses’ practices and their perceived barriers for preventing pressure ulcers ( P < 0.05).

Conclusions:

This study concluded that approximately two-thirds of nurses have adequate level of nursing practice to prevent pressure ulcer. Furthermore, the study identified several barriers perceived to affect patients’ quality of care and prevention of pressure ulcers. Hence, this study suggests that the barriers for promoting nursing practice toward the prevention of pressure ulcers need to be contained and guaranteed in CCUs.

The image of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the independent Iraqi press: An analytical study of the Al—Zaman, Al-Dustour, and Al-Mada newspapers
...Show More Authors

Through this descriptive study of the image of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the independent Iraqi press, the researcher relies on surveys, content analysis, and observation tools. The research community selected was the Iraqi independent press, represented by the Al-Zaman, Al-Dustour, and Al-Mada newspapers. The researcher adopts the comprehensive inventory method for newspaper issues produced between October 2019 and January 2020.

The results of this study show that Iran's interference in Iraq's internal affairs was one of the most prominent components of the picture that independent Iraqi newspapers seek to paint about the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Two local fish Himri Carasobarbus luteus (Heckel, 1843)  and Hishni Liza abu (Heckel, 1843) were stained with Alizarin Red and featured some anatomical qualities which cleared the difference of the muscular and skeletal fabric for each fish. Since clear Histologic differences appeared in these two species, it was intended from this study the possibility of adopting a diagnosis between local fish species by staining bones and tissues.

Evaluation of olive oil as a separating medium and its effect on some physical properties of processed acrylic resin denture base (A comparative study). Part one
...Show More Authors

Back ground: During acrylic resin processing, the mold must be separated from the surface of the gypsum to prevent liquid resin from penetrating into the gypsum, and water from the gypsum seeping into the acrylic resin. For many years, tin foil was the most acceptable separating medium, and because it's difficult to apply, a tin-foil substitute is used. In this study, olive oil is used as an alternative to tin foil separating medium for first time, so the aim of the study was to evaluate its effect as a separating medium on some physical properties such as (surface roughness, water sorption and solubility) of acrylic resins denture base comparing it with those processed using tin-foil and tin foil substitute such as (cold mold seal) separat

Compound 4-(((6-amino-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)- 2,6-dimethoxyphenol (6) was synthesized by multi steps. The corresponding acetonitrile thioalkyl (7) was cyclized by refluxing with acetic acid to afford 4-(((6-amino-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4- b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (8). Two new series of 4-(((6-(3- (4-aryl)thioureido)-7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4-b][1,3,4] thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6- dimethoxyphenol (9a-c) and of 4-(((6-(substitutedbenzamido)7H-[1,2,4]triazolo[3,4- b][1,3,4]thiadiazin-3-yl)methoxy)methyl)-2,6-dimethoxyphenol (10a-c) were synthesized as new derivatives for fused 1,2,4-trizaole-thiadiazine(8). This research aims to identify the impact of Daniel's model on the development of critical thinking. In order to achieve this objective, the following hypotheses are formulated: 1. There is no statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between the average differences in the posttest scores of the experimental group taught according to Daniel's model and the control group taught according to the traditional method in the measure of critical thinking. 2. There is no statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between the average differences in the preand post-tests scores of the experimental group taught according to Daniel's model in the measure of critical thinking. Origanum majorana (Majorana hortensis), an evergreen herbaceous plant belonging to the Lamiaceae family, has been well known for being used for gastrointestinal, cardiac, respiratory, rheumatologic and many other illnesses, but in wounds management hasn’t been qualified scientifically yet. The goal of the study was to evaluate the wound healing properties of sterols in n-hexane and phenols in ethyl acetate extract fractions of the Iraqi Origanum majorana L aerial parts by contrasting their wound healing abilities with those of commercially available MEBO ointment in a rat excised wound repair model. At various periods, the size of the wounds was measured and skin tissue samples were taken for histopathology. When compared to positive and

Studying the relationship between the number of unit cells and the dislocation density of a crystal through the x-ray diffraction pattern of barium oxide nanoparticles
...Show More Authors

In this research, the X-ray diffraction pattern was used, which was obtained experimentally after preparation of barium oxide powder. A program was used to analyze the X-ray diffraction lines of barium oxide nanoparticles, and then the particle size was calculated by using the Williamson-Hall method, where it was found that the value of the particle size is 25.356 nm. Also, the dislocation density was calculated, which is equal to1.555 x1015 (lines/nm2), and the value of the unit cell number was also calculated, as it is equal to 23831.
