Microplastics toxicity: Classification, sources, exposure routes, and experiments
...Show More Authors

Microplastics (MPs), including polymers such as polyethylene, polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and polystyrene (PS), are widespread environmental contaminants detected in air, water, soil, and food. These particles originate from the breakdown of larger plastics and from direct industrial and consumer sources, including packaging, textiles, and personal care products. MPs enter the human body primarily through ingestion, inhalation, and dermal contact, with food, water, and air serving as major exposure pathways. Once internalized, MPs have been found in various human tissues and biological fluids, indicating their capacity for bioaccumulation. Toxicological studies in experimental models and occupational settings link MP exposure to oxidative stress, inflammation, cellular dysfunction, and potential organ toxicity, including effects on the gastrointestinal, respiratory, immune, reproductive, and nervous systems. PVC microplastics, in particular, are associated with liver toxicity and increased cancer risk in occupationally exposed populations. MPs can also act as vectors for environmental pollutants and plastic-associated chemicals, further amplifying health risks. This review summarizes the classification, major sources, exposure routes, and toxicological activity of MPs. A comprehensive understanding of MP properties is essential for developing effective strategies to mitigate their persistent harmful effects on public health and the environment. Copyright © 2025. Asymptomatic Bacteriuria in Pregnant and Diabetic Women
...Show More Authors

Background: Asymptomatic bacteriuria (ASB) is
defined as isolation of a specified quantitative count
of bacteria in an appropriately collected urine
specimen from an individual without symptoms or
signs of urinary tract infection.
Aim of study: To evaluate the frequency of
bacteriuria according to age, pregnancy, and type II
diabetes mellitus in a sample of Iraqi women.
Patients and Methods: A total of 125 female
individuals were involved. The study participants
were classified into the following groups: nonpregnant
women with type II diabetes mellitus,
pregnant women with type II diabetes mellitus,
pregnant women without type II diabetes mellitus, and
apparently healthy non-pregnant women. Urine

Culture and Western Hegemony: Postcolonial Theoretical Study
...Show More Authors

Postcolonial theory deals with the effects of colonization on the colonized societies and their cultures. It examines the complex relationship between the colonized and the colonizer, and it represents the textual reactions that deal directly with such an issue. It is also a literary critique to texts that carry racist or colonial implications. The emergence of postcolonial theory as an aspect of literary criticism represents a shift in the focus of studies regarding the relation between the western and non-western worlds.

In contemporary theoretical discourse, Edward Said has been among the more influential postcolonial critics to draw attention to the centrality of imperialism in Western culture. Said’s work has provided a th

Leptin and Insulin Resistance in Obese Children
...Show More Authors

Background: Insulin resistance (IR) is the primary metabolic disorder associated with obesity. Obesity is a growing worldwide health problem affecting both adults and children. Objectives: To determine the association between leptin and IR, and to identify the ratio of fasting glucose/leptin (G/L) and insulin/leptin (I/L) as a new simple method for the detection of IR in obese children. Methods: This study was done in the National DiabeticCenter/ AL-Mustansiriya University during the period fromMay 2013 until the end of October 2013. Fasting bloodglucose (FBG), serum insulin, leptin, and lipid profile weremeasured in 52 obese children (24 children with IR and 28without IR); their age range was (5-15) years, they werecompared with 38 healt

Educational Plan for Private and Public Kindergartens
...Show More Authors

The research aims to identify the educational plan for the private and public kindergartens. The researchers selected a sample consisted of (59) female teachers for the private kindergartens and (150) female teachers for the public kindergartens in the city of Baghdad. As for the research tool, the two researchers designed a questionnaire to measure the educational plan for the private and public kindergartens. The results   revealed that private kindergartens have educational plans that contribute considerably to classroom interaction, the public kindergartens lack for educational plans. In light of the findings of the research, the researchers recommend the following: the need to set up a unified educational plan for the priv

Suppose R has been an identity-preserving commutative ring, and suppose V has been a legitimate submodule of R-module W. A submodule V has been J-Prime Occasionally as well as occasionally based on what’s needed, it has been acceptable: x ∈ V + J(W) according to some of that r ∈ R, x ∈ W and J(W) an interpretation of the Jacobson radical of W, which x ∈ V or r ∈ [V: W] = {s ∈ R; sW ⊆ V}. To that end, we investigate the notion of J-Prime submodules and characterize some of the attributes of has been classification of submodules.

Steganography in Audio Using Wavelet and DES
...Show More Authors

In this paper, method of steganography in Audio is introduced for hiding secret data in audio media file (WAV). Hiding in audio becomes a challenging discipline, since the Human Auditory System is extremely sensitive. The proposed method is to embed the secret text message in frequency domain of audio file. The proposed method contained two stages: the first embedding phase and the second extraction phase. In embedding phase the audio file transformed from time domain to frequency domain using 1-level linear wavelet decomposition technique and only high frequency is used for hiding secreted message. The text message encrypted using Data Encryption Standard (DES) algorithm. Finally; the Least Significant bit (LSB) algorithm used to hide secr
