Antimicrobial Activity of Silver Nanoparticles on Pathogenic Bacteria
...Show More Authors

Nosocomial infection is acquired contamination of hospitals and health care units caused by multidrug resistant bacteria. Currently, bacterial resistance to antimicrobial medication represents a complicated public health problem. Recent studies on the antimicrobial activity of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) attracted researchers worldwide to focus on the safe synthesis of AgNPs as antimicrobial agents against multidrug resistant bacteria. The antimicrobial efficacy of AgNPs on pathogenic bacteria isolated from clinical cases of acquired hospital infection was targeted in this project. Fifty specimens of stool were collected through private laboratories in Baghdad from patients who suffered diarrheal symptoms. Bacterial isolation, identification, and characterization via culturing on MacConkey agar, Salmonella shigella agar, and IMVic analysis were done besides, using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) through amplifying inf B gene for molecular characterization. The obtained isolates were tested for antimicrobial sensitivity via disk diffusion assay against; Gentamycin, Amoxicillin, Tetracycline, Ceftriaxone and a suspension of silver nanoparticles (1mM AgNo3 reduced by 1% tri-sodium citrate). Results of isolation and IMVic showed the obtained isolates were Klebsiella spp., Enterobacter spp., Citrobacter spp., and PCR assay confirmed their pathogenicity. Disc diffusion assay showed the sensitivity of the isolates (mm); Gentamycin (24.94 ± 0.1), Amoxicillin (2.11 ± 0.13), Tetracycline (12.15 ± 0.1), Ceftriaxone (12.35 ± 0.1). Whereas, all isolates are sensitive to AgNPs (24.12 ± 0.3). This result of the antimicrobial effect of AgNPs on nosocomial infection promises for developing AgNPs solution as a product used in the sterilization of furniture, floors and hospital water cycles

Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles by ecofriendly nvironmental method using Piper nigrum, Ziziphus spina-christi, and Eucalyptusglobulus extract
...Show More Authors
Abstract
In the present study, silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were prepared using an eco-friendly method synthesized in a single step biosynthetic using leaves aqueous extract of Piper nigrum, Ziziphus spina-christi, and Eucalyptus globulus act as a reducing and capping agents, as a function of volume ratio of aqueous extract(100ppm) to AgNO3 (0.001M), (1: 10, 2: 10, 3: 10). The nanoparticles were characterized using UV-Visible spectra, X-ray diffraction (XRD). The prepared AgNPs showed surface Plasmon resonance centered at 443, 440, and 441 nm for sample prepared using extract Piper nigrum, Ziziphus spina-christi, and Eucalyptus respectively. The XRD pattern showed that the strong intense peaks
... Show More

Synthesis, Characterization and Gas Sensor Application of New Composite Based on MWCNTs:CoPc:Metal Oxide
...Show More Authors

The synthesis of new substituted cobalt Phthalocyanine (CoPc) was carried out using starting materials Naphthalene-1,4,5, tetracarbonic acid dianhydride (NDI) employing dry process method. Metal oxides (MO) alloy of (60%Ni3O4 40%-Co3O4 ) have been functionalized with multiwall carbon nanotubes (F-MWCNTs) to produce (F-MWCNTs/MO) nanocomposite (E2) and mixed with CoPc to yield (F-MWCNT/CoPc/MO) (E3). These composites were investigated using different analytical and spectrophotometric methods such as 1H-NMR (0-18 ppm), FTIR spectroscopy in the range of (400-4000cm-1), powder X-rays diffraction (PXRD, 2θ o = 10-80), Raman spectroscopy (0-4000 cm-1), and UV-Visib

...Show More Authors

In this work we used the environmentally friendly method to prepared ZrO2 nanoparticles utilizing the extract of Thyms plant In basic medium and at pH 12, the ZrO2 NPs was characterized by different techniques such as FTIR, ultraviolet visible, Atomic force microscope, Scanning Electron Microscopy, X-ray diffraction and Energy dispersive X-ray. The average crystalline size was calculated using the Debye Scherres equation in value 7.65 nm. Atomic force microscope results showed the size values for ZrO2 NPs were 45.11nm, and there are several distortions due to the presence of some large sizes. The present study was conducted to estimate the antimicrobial activity and the potential biological control of the killer toxin produced byD. hanseniiDSMZ70238 against several pathogenic microorganisms. In this study, the effects of NaCl, pH, and temperature, killer toxin production, and antimicrobial activity were studied. The results showed that the optimum inhibitory effect of killer toxin was at 8% NaCl, and the diameters of clear zones were 20, 22, 22, 21, 14, and 13 mm forStaphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Streptococcus pyogenes, Candida albicans, andCandida neoformans, respectively. The largest inhibition zones were

Synthesis, Characterization, Molecular Docking, Cytotoxicity, and Antimicrobial Activity of Schiff Base Ligand and Its Metal Complexes
...Show More Authors

A Schiff base ligand (L) was synthesized via condensation of N-( 1-naphthyl) ethylenediamine dihydrochloride with phthalaldehyde. The ligand was characterized by FT-IR, UV–Vis, 1H NMR, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis (C, H, N). Five metal complexes (Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), and Cd(II)) were prepared with the ligand in a 1:1 (M:L) ratio using an aqueous ethanol solution. The complexes were characterized by FT-IR, UV–Vis, mass spectrometry, and elemental analysis (C, H, N). Additionally, 1H NMR spectroscopy was employed for Cd(II) complex. Antimicrobial activity of the ligand and its metal complexes against pathogenic bacteria (K. pneumoniae, E. coli, S. aureus, and S. epidermidis) and fungus (C. albicans) were evaluated
