Assessing the Activity of Renin and GST in the Serum of Ladies Suffering from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and COVID-19 to Predict the Danger of Cardiac Disease
...Show More Authors

The coronavirus-pandemic has a major impact on women's-mental and physical-health. Polycystic-ovary-syndrome (PCOS) has a high-predisposition to many cardiometabolic-risk factors that increase susceptibility to severe complications of COVID-19 and also exhibit an increased likelihood of subfertility. The study includes the extent of the effect of COVID-19-virus on renin-levels, glutathione-s-transferase-activity and other biochemical parameters in PCOS-women. The study included 120 samples of ladies that involved: 80 PCOS-patients, and 40 healthy-ladies. Both main groups were divided into subgroups based on COVID-19 infected or not. Blood-samples were collected from PCOS-patients in Kamal-Al-Samara Hospital, at the period between December until June. Some biochemical parameters were measured for all study-groups, which included: determination of serum renin levels by using the ELISA-technique, GST-activity, lipid-profile.  FBS was assessed manually, and hormones were assessed using VIDAS-analyzer-hormones. The result showed a possible relationship between FBS-levels and renin in PCOS-ladies (Stein-Leventhal-Syndrome), while GST-activity were inversely associated with BMI in PCOS-ladies. Also, it was found that the renin-levels were higher in PCOS-patients groups compared with healthy-groups. On the other hand, the renin levels and Glutathione-S-Transferase-activity were lower in PCOS-patients-infected-with-COVID-19 than female-patients-without-COVID-19. The statistical-data-displayed that the level of renin is associated negatively with glutathione-s-transferase-activity in PCOS-cases. Renin level was higher in PCOS-ladies, this may lead to increase renal-dysfunction and risk of cardiovascular-disease that may be expected in patients. A decrease in the antioxidant-capacity may be because the high number of free-radicals that enter the body by the virus and high levels of renin which lead to a higher risk of PCOS-complication like cardiovascular-disease.

The Relation of IGF-1 and Insulin Resistance in a Sample of Iraqi Obese Type 2 Diabetic Patients with Macrovascular Disease
...Show More Authors

Type 2 diabetes mellitus(T2DM) is a metabolic disease that is associated with an increased risk for atherosclerosis by 2-4 folds than in non- diabetics. In general population, low IGF-1 has been associated with higher prevalence of cardiovascular disease and mortality .This study aims to find out the relationship between IGF-1 level and other biochemical markers such as Homeostasis Model Assessment insulin resistance(HOMAIR) and Body Mass Index(BMI) in type 2 diabetic patients . This study includes (82) patients (40 females and 42 males) with age range (40-75) years,(34) non obese diabetic patients and (48) obese diabetic patients. The non obese individuals considered

Study the Catalytic Activity of CeO2 Catalyst for the Oxidative Degradation of Orange G Dye in Aqueous Solution
...Show More Authors

The oxidative degradation of Orange G dye by nanosized CeO2 catalyst has been performed in this study. The catalyst was prepared by precipitation method. Various characterization techniques were carried out to study the physical and chemical properties of the synthesized catalyst. The XRD result confirms well the formation of CeO2 cubic phase.  The FTIR result showed the effect of calcination temperature for CeO2 was clearly observed due to reduction in band intensity compared to uncalcined Ce nitrate sample. Meanwhile, the diffused reflection spectra recorded reflection spectra at 414 nm with an energy gap of 3.2 ev. The decolorization of Orange G dye by oxidation process were carried out  unde

To study the qualitative changes in testis tissue after carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) administration and to determine whether citric acid (CA) has a protective effect against testis damage induced by CCl4. This study compared two types of CA by measuring the histoarchitecture of the testis and serum levels of progesterone, estrogen and testosterone on mice. One of the most produced organic acid is citric acid. In this study, CA produced by microbial fermentation using Aspergillus Niger 5mg/kg and derived from citrus limon 400mg/kg (lemon). Mice were treated with daily intraperitoneal (i.p.) injection for seven successive days after randomly separated into six groups: (1) control, (2) CCl4 (0.02%), (3) limon citric acid (400 mg/kg), (4) CCl4 (
