Colorectal cancer is the world's 3rd most frequent malignant neoplasm and the 4th most common cancer in Iraq. Leptin and Adiponectin are two major Adipocytokines produced by adipose cells that have opposite effects on the formation of colorectal tumors. Leptin induces tumor growth and metastasis, whereas Adiponectin inhibits it. 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D controls and limits cancer cell proliferation, differentiation, and survival. Vitamin C deficiency, on the other hand, has been regularly detected in cancer tissues and has potent anti-cancer properties. The purpose of this study was to look at the biochemical role of circulatory Adipocytokine levels (Adiponectin and Leptin) as well as the anti-cancer potentials of Vitamin D and C in CRC patients from Iraq. The research looked at confirmed cases of CRC who were seen at Nanakali Hospital for Blood diseases and Cancer in Erbil before their treatment sessions. A total of 35 patients with confirmed CRC cases and 36 healthy participants who were age, gender, and BMI matched were recruited. ELISA technique was used to quantify serum levels of Adiponectin, Leptin, Vitamin D, & C. The results showed a significant increase (P<0.0001) of serum Adiponectin levels (12.06±1.59) in CRC patients relative to the controls (2.05±0.96). On the contrary, the serum Leptin levels (24.09±2.92) were non-significantly lower (P=0.098) in CRC patients in comparison to controls (53.84±1.54). Furthermore, serum Vitamin D (13.14±1.21) and Vitamin C (1.03±0.10) levels in CRC patients were significantly lower (P<0.0001) when compared to controls (24.49±1.47, 5.78±2.16), respectively. The findings in the current study suggest an imperative biochemical role of Adipocytokines (Adiponectin and Leptin) and Adipose tissue dysfunction in the pathogenesis of CRC patients. Furthermore, decreased serum levels of Vitamin D and C reduce their effective anti-cancer effects, allowing Colorectal malignant neoplasms to survive and develop. Thus, the present study findings suggest Adiponectin and Leptin as potent prognostic and risk factors of CRCs. Also, Vitamin D and C deficiencies are the major risk factors among Iraqi CRC patients.
Background: The Covid-19 pandemic changed the world; its most important achievement for education was changing the approach from traditional to virtual education. The present study aimed to investigate the role of virtual education networks on mental health of students including personality, beliefs, scientific, and cultural dimensions, in selected countries. Methods: This was an exploratory and applied study. According to the phenomenology strategy, theoretical saturation occurred after 24 semi-structured and targeted qualitative interviews with teachers from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Lebanon, in 2023. Quantitative data was collected through a researcher-made online questionnaire with 423 participants. Teachers with at least a Bachelor’s degr

And the extent of the position occupied by Iraqi banks for banking compliance and reducing operational risks. The Basel Committee (2) paid its attention to operational risks and the interest of international banks to follow policies that work to ensure banking compliance and cover operational risks, because of its role in reducing losses due to increased costs and achieving an increase in profits. Realizing and working to confront the best possible and traditional methods, that some risks Operational problem

Accordingly, the aim of the research was to clarify the knowledge foundations of cleaner production costs and to indicate their role in reducing the costs of poor quality (the costs of failure). A set of conclusions has been reached, the most important of which is that cleaner production has achieved a reduction in the costs of external failure, represented by the costs of guarantee, by an amount of 12,339,000 dinars. Contributes to reducing the costs of failure, and based on the conclusions, a set of recommendations were presented, the most important of w

Methods: In a single-center prospective observational study, 74 women with hormone-receptor-positive (HR+)/ human epidermal growth receptor-2 (HER2)-negative metastatic breast cancer were recruited from the Oncology Hospital, Medical City in Baghdad, Iraq. The patients were treated with oral Palbociclib (125 mg) for 21 days, then continued with Letrozole (2.5 mg) for 7 days, and completed six treatment cycles. The candidates were divided into two groups based on therapeutic response: Group 1 responded to the palbociclib plus letrozole combination therapy, a

The experiment included four irrigation treatments and six fertilization treatments. The experiment was designed under randomized complete block design (RCBD) with three replications. Wheat grain IPA 99 and Al-Rasheed 22 varieties were planted in 23/11/2016 and harvested in 13/5/2017. Allele G showed a signifcantly lower frequency in patients compared to controls (31.2 vs. 46.9%; probability [p]=0.009; corrected p [pc]=0.027) and was associated with a lower risk of HBV infection (odds ratio [OR]=0.49; 95% confdence interval [CI]=0.29–0.83). A similar lower risk was associated with genotypes CG (17.5 vs. 29.2; OR=0.25; 95% CI=0.08–0.81; p=0.02) and GG (10.0 vs. 16.7; OR=0.25; 95% CI=0.07–0.91; p=0.036), but the pc value was not signifcant (0.12 and 0.126, respec‑ tively).
