Onomatopoeia has always been a functional poetic device which enjoys a high sound significance in the poetry of many languages. In modern English and Arabic poetry alike, it proves to be vital and useful at different levels: musical, thematic and at the level of meaning. Still, the cultural difference looms large over the ways it is employed by the poets of each. The present paper investigates the employment of onomatopoeia in the poetry of D. H. Lawrence (1885-1930) and Badr Shakir al-Sayyab (1926-1964) who are chosen due to the importance they enjoy in modern English and Arabic poetry and the richness of their poems in onomatopoeias. Providing clean water suitable for drinking, agriculture and living organisms is essential in the ecosystem. Therefore, the qualitative assessment of water resources using qualitative indicators is considered one of the most appropriate ways to manage water and develop a regular program for water quality. In this research, 11 sites were used in the Ali Al-Gharbi district in order to evaluate the quality of water in these sites and compare it with international and Iraqi standards and its suitability for drinking. Agriculture, as the results showed that most of the concentrations of the qualitative specifications of the studied characteristics are not suitable for human use and agriculture in the study area.

This  research aimes to expose the levels of geometrical thinking among the students of mathematic department in Basic Education College at AL-Mustansiriyah University throughout their respondes on the test of  geometrical thinking which consists (50) multi- choice items  distributed on the first four levels of Van Hiele ( recognition – analysis – ordering – deduction ).

The validity and the reliability of the test have been investigated. Besides, the difficulty and its discrimination have been measured. The activity of the wrong variables has been measured.

The test has been applied on (180) male and female students of the first, second and third grades.

Background: This study aimed to determine the amount of fluoride in commercially available bottled drinking water in Al-Basra city, Iraq Materials and Methods: Eleven brands of bottled drinking water were obtained from supermarkets in Al-Basra city, Iraq. Five samples of 10 ml. were taking from each one of brands and the fluoride was determined by using fluoride ion selective electrode. Results: The highest fluoride concentration was present in BADIOT brand (1.174 mg/L) while the lowest was in Barakat brand (0.038 mg/L). One way ANOVA test showed a highley significant difference among different commercially branded types. Coclusions: Bottled water available in Al-Basra city contains less concentration of fluoride ion than normal values
