Nine carbonic sources were represented by starch, maltose, fructose, sucrose, glucose, arabinose, xylose, sorbitol and mannitol) at concentration of 1% for each source. Because of the microbial etiology of periodontitis, systemic or local antibiotic therapy is used as an adjunct treatment.
