Evaluate the Protective Effect of Lactobacillus against Collateral Damage Induced by Ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin in Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

Abstract:                                                                                                                Fluoroquinolones drugs are an important class of wide spectrum antibacterial agents, and active against a wide range of Gram-negative and Gram-positive pathogens, are divided into four generations. Collateral damage is a term used to refer to ecological adverse effects of antibiotic therapy, occurring as drug-resistant organisms and the unwanted development of colonization or infection with multidrug-resistant organisms. This damage is mostly related to levofloxacin and Ciprofloxacin.

Aim: The aim of the current study was to compare the incidence of collateral damage between two quinolone antibiotic derivatives (ciprofloxacin and Levofloxacin) and evaluate the activity of lactobacillus to reduce the collateral damage. Patients and Methods: This study was carried out on 100 patients. Administration of ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin each alone or in combination with lactobacillus, the character of diarrhea and grade of diarrhea was studied before and after 10 days of administration each dosing protocol. Results: there are a significant increase in the incidence of diarrhea for all groups when compare between before and after treatment diarrhea, Number of patients with diarrhea in group 1 after finish the treatment was not significantly higher when compared with group 2 (p>0.05) meanwhile number of patients with diarrhea in group 4 after finish the treatment was significantly lower when compared with group 3 (p>0.05). Conclusion; The use of ciprofloxacin and levofloxacin associated with incidence of collateral damage represented as diarrhea and levofloxacin is the least risk of this damage, and using of lactobacillus with levofloxacin was better results than the other three groups.

Background: This study was conducted among diabetic persons to assess the sweet and salty taste sensitivity with its effect on gingival health in relation to salivary serotonin levels. Materials and methods: A cross-sectional comparative study design was used. All patients with diabetes aged 12-14 years that attend the Paediatric hospital at Baghdad medical city with specific inclusion criteria were involved in the sample of the present study (patients group 50 patients) compared with non-diabetic persons matched in age and gender of the study sample (control group 70 patients) who were attending dental unit in the college of dentistry/university of Baghdad. A two-alternative forced choice question including each component presented at f

Polyphenolic Profiles and Cytotoxic Effect of Iraqi Morus alba leaves Ethyl Acetate Extract.
...Show More Authors

Morus alba, member of the Moraceae family, is a perennial tree utilized in folk medicine, preparing the modern drug, and considered the main food for silkworms. However, data on chemical content in the leaves is still limited; the main objective of this study is to detect the presence and determine the concentration of different polyphenolic constituents in the leaves of the Morus alba plant by reverse phase-high performance liquid chromatography (RP-HPLC) and evaluate the cytotoxic effect of ethyl acetate extract of this plant on human breast cancer (AMJ-13) cell line. Phytochemical analysis of the Morus alba leaves ethyl acetate extract led to identifying and quantification of six polyphenolic constituents designated as phenolic a

57 isolates of Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium bovis were identified; they were isolated from different clinical sources which included sputum, bronchial wash, abscess, pleural fluid, gastric fluid, eye fluid, and CSF, also urine and ear swab. This investigation was carried out on 198 patient attended National Reference Laboratory for T.B during September 2009. Also the study declared that the ratio of separation of this bacterium from male was (67.6%) and it’s higher than the ratio of separation this bacterium from females which was (32.3%). The susceptibility of Mycobacterium tuberculosis to melatonin was evaluated. Many concentrati

Industrial Sector and Development of Iraqi Economy by Kaldor's Approach For Years (2017-2030)
...Show More Authors

The study aims to clarify the impact of growth in the industrial sector on economic growth in the Iraqi economics according to the methodology of Kaldor for (2017-2030) , taking into consideration the effect of the accumulation of capital in the calculation of growth rates in the economy through productivity estimate of Total Factor Productivity (TFP) to growth in the economy, which is why the study assumes a formula to comply with the laws of Kaldor growth models developed requirements. This study is the most important to find out  the development of the laws of Kaldor among Arabic studies, especially the first and third, so that the relationship between the growth of industrial production and economic growth as represented

Molecular Analysis of CYP21A2 Gene Mutations among Iraqi Patients with Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia
...Show More Authors

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia is a group of autosomal recessive disorders. The most frequent one is 21-hydroxylase deficiency. Analyzing CYP21A2 gene mutations was so far not reported in Iraq. This work aims to analyze the spectrum and frequency of CYP21A2 mutations among Iraqi CAH patients. Sixty-two children were recruited from the Pediatric Endocrine Consultation Clinic, Children Welfare Teaching Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq, from September 2014 till June 2015. Their ages ranged between one day and 15 years. They presented with salt wasting, simple virilization, or pseudoprecocious puberty. Cytogenetic study was performed for cases with ambiguous genitalia. Molecular analysis of

Suppression of T cell-induced osteoclast formation
...Show More Authors

Inhibition of T cell derived cytokine production could help suppress osteoclast differentiation in inflammatory skeletal disorders. Bisphosphonates are typically prescribed to prevent inflammatory bone loss but are not tolerated by all patients and are associated with an increased risk of osteonecrosis of the jaw. In light of this other anti-resorptives such as phytoestrogens are being considered. However the effect of phytoestrogens on T cell-induced osteoclast formation is unclear. The effect of genistein and coumestrol on activated T cell-induced osteoclastogenesis and cytokine production was therefore examined. Concentrations of genistein and coumestrol (10−7 M) previously shown to directly inhibit osteoclast formation also suppressed
