Investigation of cytotoxic activity and dissolution improvement of Teniposide by incorporation into acid treated carbon nanotube and dispersed by hydrophilic polymer
...Show More Authors

Single Walled Carbon nanotubes (SWCNTs), as nano-needle structures, are good candidates as nanocarrier delivery systems that carry drug to the site of action. They are good due to their unique pharmaceutical properties. Teniposide is an anticancer drug, which is widely used, but it has a problem of low solubility. In this study, to improve the properties of carbon nanotubes, pre-functionalization of carbon nanotubes via carboxylation with strong acids has been performed and then functionalized through attaching them to the polymer and copolymer. Concurrently, a proper polymer-copolymer combination has been selected by the UV-Visible spectrometer at 880nm. It is selected based on the qualitative dispersibility analysis, the visual observation of homogeneity, and separation tendency after centrifugation while quantitative estimation. The best formula is further studied utilizing FTIR, SEM, TEM, the solubility of Teniposide, and cytotoxicity through cell lines analysis.

The results show that the best dispersibility obtained in the formula that used PVA as polymer and PEO as copolymer at a ratio of 1:1. The solubility of incorporated Teniposide in the selected formula is increased by 11.5 fold and the cell line study shows significant improvement in cytotoxic activity of Teniposide. Accordingly, it can be concluded that the acid treated carbon nanotube and linked by polymer improve the pharmaceutical properties of the carrier and actively increase the potency of drug.

Cellulose Fibers Dissolution in Alkaline Solution
...Show More Authors

In this study, NaOH dissolution method was applied to dissolve cellulose fibers which extracted from date palm fronds (type Al-Zahdi) taken from Iraqi gardens. In this process, (NaOH)-solution is brought into contact with the cellulose fibers at low temperature. Experiments were conducted with different concentrations of NaOH (4%, 6%, 8% and12%) weight percent at two cooling bath temperatures (-15 oC) and (-20oC). Maximum cellulose dissolution was 23 wt% which obtained at 8 wt% concentration of NaOH and at cooling bath temperature of -20oC. In order to enhance the cellulose fibers dissolution, the sample was pretreated with Fenton's reagent which consists of

: The need for means of transmitting data in a confidential and secure manner has become one of the most important subjects in the world of communications. Therefore, the search began for what would achieve not only the confidentiality of information sent through means of communication, but also high speed of transmission and minimal energy consumption, Thus, the encryption technology using DNA was developed which fulfills all these requirements [1]. The system proposes to achieve high protection of data sent over the Internet by applying the following objectives: 1. The message is encrypted using one of the DNA methods with a key generated by the Diffie-Hellman Ephemeral algorithm, part of this key is secret and this makes the pro

Synthesis, Characterization and Study of the Biological Activity of New Metal Complexes of Ligand[2-(3-benzoylthioureido)-3-(-4- hydroxyphenyl) Propanoic Acid (BHP)
...Show More Authors

In this paper, series of new complexes of Manganese(II), Cobalt(II), Nickel (II) Cupper(II) Zinc(II), Cadmium(II) and Mercury (II) are prepared from the new ligand [2-(3-benzoylthioureido)-3-(-4- hydroxyphenyl) propanoic acid (BHP) derived from tyrosine and benzoylisothiocyanate .Chemical structures are obtained from their 1 H, 13CNMR spectra (for BHP), elemental microanalyses, molar conductance, FTIR, UV–Vis, magnetic susceptibility in addition to TGA/DTG and DSC analysis, the suggested geometry for all complexes was tetrahedral. The biological activity of BHP and its complexes has been extensively studied against two bacterial species Staphylococcus aurous (G+) and Escherichia coli (G-) by agar-well diffusion technique, where Mn(II), Co

Photocatalytic and optical performances of CeO2 by substitution of titanium
...Show More Authors

In this contribution, density functional theory-based calculations have been carried out to assess the electronic, photocatalytic and optical properties of Ce1-xTixO2 system. Ti incorporation leads to a decrease of Ce 4f states and enhancement of Ti 3d states in the bottom of conduction band. Furthermore, it was found that doping ceria with Ti-like transition metals could evidently shift the absorption of pure CeO2 towards higher wavelength range. These findings can provide some new insights for designing CeO2-based photocatalysts with high photocatalytic performance. To the best of our knowledge, this investigation calculates Mullikan’s charge transfer of Ce1-xTixO2 system for the first time. Charge transfer reveals an ionic bond between

Rheological Evaluation of Polymer (Sav 10) For Polymer Flooding Applications
...Show More Authors

Half of the oil production of the worldwide is a result  of the water flooding  project. But the main concern of this process is mobility control of the injected fluid, because the unfavorable mobility ratio leads to fingering effect. Adding polymer to the injection water increase the water viscosity, therefore, the displacement will be more stable and have a greater sweep efficiency.

Using of polymer flooding has received more attention these days. Polymer has great potential in the Middle East region, especially in reservoir with high temperature and salinity.

The main objective of this work is to show the effect of shear rate, salinity, temperature, polymer concentration on polymer v

Greywater is a possible water source that can be improved for meeting the quality required for irrigation. Treatment of greywater can range from uncomplicated coarse filtration to advanced biological treatment. This article presents a simple design of a small scale greywater treatment plant, which is a series of physical and natural processes including screening, aeration, sedimentation, and filtration using granular activated carbon filter and differentiates its performance with sand filter.
