Formulation and Evaluation of Silymarin Microcrystals by In- Situ Micronization Technique
...Show More Authors

Silymarin (SM) is a plant extract obtained from Silybum marianum( milk thistle) . It is class II type drug according to Biopharmaceutics Classification System with low bioavailability due to its low solubility.

Micro/nanonization during crystallization, surface modification and crystal structure modification may improve the dissolution rate of poorly water-soluble drugs.

The aim of this study was to increase the water solubility and dissolution rate of SM by in-situ micronization using solvent change either by stirring or ultrasonic method. Stabilizers like Gelatin, PVP-K30, HPMC15, Pulullan were used to stabilize the prepared ultrafine crystals. Effect of type and concentration of hydrophilic polymer, solvent: antisolvent volume ratio and the effect of ultrasonic irradiation were studied. The prepared microcrystals were evaluated for their %yield, water solubility, crystals structure by XRD,DSC, and SEM. Particle size and dissolution rate were also tested . Silymarin microcrystals prepared by ultrasonic method and stabilized by 0.1%gelatin using 1:2 solvent: anti-solvent volume ratio showed the best results with particle size reduction from mean diameter of 1.5µm (untrated silymarin) to 0.43µm with uniform morphology and enhanced solubility and dissolution.

Recovery of temporal coefficient for heat equation from non-local overdetermination conditions
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Recovery of time-dependent thermal conductivity has been numerically investigated. The problem of identification in one-dimensional heat equation from Cauchy boundary data and mass/energy specification has been considered. The inverse problem recasted as a nonlinear optimization problem. The regularized least-squares functional is minimised through lsqnonlin routine from MATLAB to retrieve the unknown coefficient. We investigate the stability and accuracy for numerical solution for two examples with various noise level and regularization parameter.

Biological Activity of Levan Produced from Rhizospheric Soil Bacterium Brachybacterium phenoliresistens KX139300
...Show More Authors

Levan is an exopolysaccharide produced by various microorganisms and has a variety of applications. In this research, the aim was to demonstrate the biological activity of levan which produced from B. phenoliresistens KX139300. These were done via study the antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and antileishmanial activities in vitro. The antioxidant levan was shown 80.9% activity at 1250 µg/mL concentration. The efficient anti-inflammatory activity of 88% protein inhibition was noticed with levan concentration at 35 µg/mL. The cytotoxic activity of levan at 2500 µg/mL concentration showed a maximum cytotoxic effect on L20B cell line and promastigotes of Leishmani tropica. Levan has dose-dependent anticancer and antileishman

Belief about Medications among Sample of Iraqi Patients with Inflammatory Bowel Disease
...Show More Authors

Inflammatory bowel disease includes both Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis, is a chronic, progressive relapsing disease of gastrointestinal tract that require long-term treatment or maintenance therapy. Taking patient’s beliefs about the prescribed medication in consideration had been shown to be an important factor that affects compliance of the patient in whom having positive beliefs is a prerequisite for better compliance. The aim of the current study was to investigate and assess beliefs about medicines among a sample of Iraqi patients with inflammatory bowel disease and to determine possible association between these beliefs and some patient-specific factors.

This study is a cross-sectional study carried out o

The Social Motive Behind the Inclusion of Moses Story Within Andalusi Poetry

The significance of the social motivation lies in showing the great and important role of the story of the prophet of ( Moser ( Peace upon him) in Quran , especially , it is considered the greatest one in Quran , as that confirmed by the poets of Andalusera ,as it includes aspects similar to that prevailing over in their environments and their social life via the social motivation. Moreover , the relation's poets with the Andalus society where suitability prevailing over consistent with the events of the story; bedsides, artistic expression about the society for being considered as a trust mirror reflect real facts surrounded by the Andalussociety with all its sides and aspects . Thus , the poet takes Quran , especially the story of Mose

A Micro Computed Tomography Assessment of New Carrier-Based Root Canal Fillings
...Show More Authors

Background: The main aim of the present study is to qualify and quantify voids formation of root canals obturated with GuttaCore (GC) and experimental Hydroxyapatite polyethylene (HA/PE) as new carrier-based root canal fillings by using micro computed tomography scan. Materials and methods: In the present study, eight straight single-rooted human permanent premolar teeth are selected and disinfected, then stored in distilled water. The teeth decoronated leaving a root length of 12mm each. The root canals instrumented by using crown down technique and the apical diameter of the root canal prepared to a size # 30/0.04 for achieving standardized measurements. A 5mL of 17% EDTA used to remove the smear layer followed by 5mL of 2.5% NaOCl and r

State of type 2 diabetic Iraqi patients after hospitalization for COVID-19
...Show More Authors
Background

The coronavirus-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, triggered by the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2, has affected over 100 million people and killed around 2 million individuals. One of the most common chronic illnesses in the world is diabetes, which greatly raises the risk of hospitalization and death for COVID-19 patients.

Objective

This study aims to analyze the novel coronavirus's general characteristics and shed light on COVID-19 and its management in diabetic individuals by measuring some metabolic and inflammatory factors in type 2 diabetic pa

Vibration Analysis of Cross-Ply Plates Under Initial Stress Using Refined Theory
...Show More Authors

Natural frequency under initial stresses for simply supported cross-ply composite laminated plates (E glass- fiber) are obtained using Refind theory (RPT). This theory accounts for parabolic distribution of the transverse shear strain through the plate thickness and satisfies the zero traction boundary conditions on the surfaces of the plate without using shear correction factors. The governing equations for Eigen value problem under initial stress are derived using Hamilton’s principle and solved using Navier solution for simply supported cross-ply symmetric and antisymmetric laminated plates. The effect of many design factors such as modulus ratio, thickness ratio and number of laminates on the Natural frequency and buckling stresses

Nonlinear Finite Element Analysis of Fiber Reinforced Concrete Pavement under Dynamic Loading
...Show More Authors

The analysis of rigid pavements is a complex mission for many reasons. First, the loading conditions include the repetition of parts of the applied loads (cyclic loads), which produce fatigue in the pavement materials. Additionally, the climatic conditions reveal an important role in the performance of the pavement since the expansion or contraction induced by temperature differences may significantly change the supporting conditions of the pavement. There is an extra difficulty because the pavement structure is made of completely different materials, such as concrete, steel, and soil, with problems related to their interfaces like contact or friction. Because of the problem's difficulty, the finite element simulation is
