A detailed study of adsorption from solution of amitriptyline-HCl, chlorpromazine-HCl and
chlordiazepoxide-HCl on bentonite clay surface has been performed at variable conditions of
temperature, pH and ionic strength. It is aimed in this work to explore the capability of this clay in
treatment of poisoning by the mentioned drugs if taken in quantities higher than the usual doses.
Quantities of drugs adsorbed have been determined by UV spectrophotometric technique. The
sequence of adsorption in neutral media at 37.5 CÙ’ followed the order:
Amitriptyline-HCl > chlorpromazine-HCl > chlordiazepoxide-HCl.
The results were discussed in the light of Langmuir and Freundich adsorption isotherms. The usual
basic themodynamic functions were estimated.
Background: Adjustment of any premature occlusal contact of any zirconia restoration requires its polishing or glazing in order to restore the smoothness of the restoration. The objective of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of different polishing systems and glazing on the surface roughness of full-contour zirconia. Material and methods: Forty disks (diameter: 8 mm, thickness: 6.4 mm) were prepared from pre-sintered full-contoured zirconia block; they were colored and sintered in a high-temperature furnace at 1500ËšC for 8 hours. The specimens were then leveled and finished using grinding and polishing machine and adjusted using diamond disk. The specimens were then randomly divided into four groups (n=10), group I involves

Show MoreBackground: The aim of the study was to investigate the effect of surface treatments of zirconia (grinding and sandblast with 50μm, 100 μm) on shear bond strength between zirconia core and veneering ceramic. Material and methods: Twenty-eight presintered Y-TZP ceramic specimens (IPS e.max ZirCAD, Ivoclar vivadent) were fabricated and sintered according to manufacturer’s instructions. The core specimens were divided randomly in to 4 groups, group 1: no surface treatment, group2: zirconia specimens were ground with silicon carbide paper up to1200 grit under water cooling, group3: zirconia specimens were ground and sandblast with 100 μm alumina, group 4: zirconia specimens were ground and sandblast with 50 μm alumina. A single-mode optical fiber with three different diameters (25, 45 and 65) µm was used, respectively. The second layer of the low refractive fiber was replaced by gold, which was electrically deposited at 40 µm thickness. For each of the three types of optical fiber, different saline concentrations (different index of refraction) were used to evaluate the performance of the refractive index sensor (chemical sensor) by measuring its sensitivity and resolutions. The highest values we could get for these two parameters were 240mm/RIU, and 6*10-5 RIU respectively, when the diameter of a

Show MorePurpose: Current denture liner materials suffer from low tear strength, poor abrasion resistance, weak bond strength to denture material, and increasing risk of denture stomatitis due to adherence. The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of the addition of cellulose nanofibers (CNFs) to commercial soft denture liner material on the adherence of and physical and mechanical properties. Materials and Methods: CNFs at concentrations of 0.0, 0.5, and 1.0 wt.% were incorporated into a soft liner material. Antifungal effects were assessed by quantifying the adherence of . The Shore A hardness, tensile strength, peel bond strength, and surface roughness tests were employed to assess the properties of the denture liner materials. Chemica

The specific activity concentration (S.A) of natural occurring radioactive materials (NORM) have been measured for Cyprinus carpio fishes collected from several industrial fishes' lakes located in Baghdad governorate using gamma spectroscopy doped with high purity germanium coaxial detector (HPGe). Thirteen fishes' samples were collected from industrial lakes, three samples were collected from cages, and two samples were collected from Trigger River. The last two types of samples were collected in order to compare the results with it. The measured overall averages of S.A for Ra-226, Th-232, and K-40 were 58.

Experimental values of density was used to calculate the apparent molar volume (Vθ), limiting apparent molar volume Vθ˚, experimental slope (Sv) and the partial molar volume at infinite dilution of transfer of solute Δνθ˚. These results have been interpreted the molecular interaction in term of ion- solvent, ion– ion interaction. The structure making /breaking capacities have been inferred from the sign of the second derivative of limiting partial molar volume with respect temperature at constant pressure. Alum has been formed to act as structure breaker in water and aq
