The Prevalence of Microorganisms in H1N1 Patients Compared to Seasonal Influenza in a Sample of Iraqi Patients
...Show More Authors

This study provides valuable information on secondary microbial infections in H1N1 patients compared to Seasonal Influenza in Iraqi Patients. Nasopharynx  swabs were collected from  (12 ) patients  infected with Seasonal influenza (11  from Baghdad  and 1 Patient from south of Iraq) ,and ( 22 ) samples from patients with 2009 H1N1 ( 20 from Baghdad and  2 from  south of Iraq). The results show that the patients infected with 2009 H1N1 Virus were younger than healthy subjects and those infected with seasonal influenza. And the difference reached to the level of significance     (p< 0.01) compared with healthy subjects.Two cases infected with 2009 H1N1 virus (9.1%) were from south of the Iraq and remaining 20 cases were from Baghdad . Polymicrobial isolates from nasopharynx swab were observed in patients infected with 2009 H1N1 virus. Polybacterial infections (2-7 microorganisms) and fungal infection were reported in 21 out of 22 patients (95.5%) and 5 out of 22 (22.7 %) respectively.The predominant isolated microorganisms were Streptococcus pyogenes , Staphylococcus aureus and Streptococcus pneumoniae  were found in 95.2 %  , 95.2 % and 90.5 %  respectively .The results also show  that seven microorganisms were isolated from 10 (47.6 %) patients infected with 2009 H1N1 , no microorganism was isolated from patients infected with seasonal influenza or healthy persons.

Key words: Seasonal Influenza , 2009 H1N1, Nasopharynx  swabs

Surface assessment of CNC laser treated commercially pure Titanium and Ti 13 Zr 13 Nb alloy
...Show More Authors

This study aimed to evaluate the surface changes of commercial pure Titanium disks (CP Ti) and the Ti 13Nb 13 Zr (Alloy) with a zigzag pattern of laser surface treatment. In vitro, experimental study of CNC Laser treatment on the CP Ti and Alloy disks. Texturing the surfaces of CP Ti and Alloy disks via CNC laser, the sample disks were analyzed using surface roughness, wettability and FESEM. The FESEM revealed a proper increase in the surface texturing and roughness on macro and micro measures without crack formation or dramatic change of the core substance of the CP Ti and Alloy disks. The CNC laser is an effective and suitable method for surface texturing CP Ti and Alloy for dental implantology. Keywords: Commercial pure Titanium;

    Synthesis of 2-mercaptobenzothiazole (A1) is performed from the reaction of  o-aminothiophenol and carbon disulfide CS2 in ethanol under basic condition. Compound (A1)  is reacted with chloro acetyl chloride to give compound (A2). Hydrazide acid compound (A3) is obtained from the reaction of compound (A2) with  hydrazine hydrate in ethanol under reflux in the presence of glacial acetic acid .The reaction of hydrazide acid compound (A3) with ethyl acetoacetate gives pyrazole compound (A4). The new hydrazone  compound (A5) was prepared from the reaction of compound (A3) with  benzaldehyde. Reaction of compound

Biomechanical and histological assessment of titanium dental implants coated with strontium substituted hydroxyapatite and fluorapatite mixture
...Show More Authors

Dental implants are considered a unique treatment alternative for the replacement of missing dentition. There is a strive for materials which increase bone formation in bone implant interface and improve osseointegration to offer immediate loading directly after placement with decreased time. The aim of the study was to assess the effect of nano strontium substituted hydroxyapatite and nano fluorapatite mixture coating of screw shaped commercially pure titanium at the bone implant interface by torque removal test and histological assessment in rabbit tibia. Commercially pure titanium was used to prepare 80 screws that were divided into machined surfaces (CpTi), coated with (SrHA), coated with (FA) and coated with mixture 50%SrHA + 50%FA (mi

Effect of organic compounds and rough inorganic layer formed by plasma electrolytic oxidation on photocatalytic performance
...Show More Authors

Plasma electrolytic oxidation and dip chemical coating as fabrication techniques are performed in ambient temperature and pressure, giving a competitive-edge in the commercial applicability. Thus, we proposed new compositions of flower-like hybrid materials, MgO-TiO2-HQ(8-hydroxyquinoline), MgOTiO2-HQ-APY(2-aminopyridine) and MgO-TiO2-HQ-APH(2-aminophenol), as photocatalysis with high corrosion resistance via a combination of plasma electrolytic oxidation and dip chemical coating in which 8-HQ, 2-APY, and 2-APH were used as the organic components. TiO2-HQ-APY and MgO-TiO2-HQ-APH exhibited improved simultaneous electrochemical and photocatalytic performance on photodecomposition of methylene blue (MB) in an aqueous solution in the presence o

OPTIMAL DESIGN OF MODERATE THICK LAMINATED COMPOSITE PLATES UNDER STATIC CONSTRAINTS USING REAL CODING GENETIC ALGORITHM
...Show More Authors

The objective of the current research is to find an optimum design of hybrid laminated moderate thick composite plates with static constraint. The stacking sequence and ply angle is required for optimization to achieve minimum deflection for hybrid laminated composite plates consist of glass and carbon long fibers reinforcements that impeded in epoxy matrix with known plates dimension and loading. The analysis of plate is by adopting the first-order shear deformation theory and using Navier's solution with Genetic Algorithm to approach the current objective. A program written with MATLAB to find best stacking sequence and ply angles that give minimum deflection, and the results comparing with ANSYS.
