Response Surface Methodology for Development and Optimization of Theophylline Pulmonary Delivery System
...Show More Authors

The aim of the present study was to develop theophylline (TP) inhalable sustained delivery system by preparing solid lipid microparticles using glyceryl behenate (GB) and poloxamer 188 (PX) as a lipid carrier and a surfactant respectively. The method involves loading TP nanoparticles into the lipid using high shear homogenization – ultrasonication technique followed by lyophilization. The compositional variations and interactions were evaluated using response surface methodology, a Box – Behnken design of experiment (DOE). The DOE constructed using TP (X1), GB (X2) and PX (X3) levels as independent factors. Responses measured were the entrapment efficiency (% EE) (Y1), mass median aerodynamic diameter (MMAD, daer) (Y2), zeta potential (ZP, ξ) (Y3), fine particles fraction (% FPF) (Y4) and percentage of dissolution efficiency at 420 minutes (% DE420) (Y5). The optimized formula was characterized by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X – ray powder diffraction (XRD) demonstrated that prolonged release physically due to the loaded TP exists mostly in its crystalline state . Analysis of dissolution data of the optimized formula indicated that the best fitting is with Higuchi model, whereas the mechanism of drug release pattern follows anomalous or non – Fickian diffusion.

Key words: Glyceryl behenate, solid lipid microparticles, theophylline nanoparticles

The Impact of Availabilit of Tax Assessor Skils in the Development the Tax Investigation: An applied research in the General Authority for Taxes
...Show More Authors

The research aims to reveal the availability of skills to develop the tax assessor when carrying out the tax examination process. The study was conducted in the branches of the General Tax Authority in the province of Baghdad (the General Authority for Taxes, Adhamiya branch, the General Authority for Taxes, Rusafa branch, Al-Bayaa branch, New Baghdad tax branch) was approved The descriptive approach to achieve the research objectives represented by answering the following two questions: 1- What are the necessary skills that should be available in the performance of the tax examiner? 2- Are the skills of developing a tax evaluator available? The two researchers used the closed questionnaire as a tool for their research. The quest

INVESTIGATION OF BENTONITE CLAY SURFACE AS A PHYSICAL ANTIDOTE IN ADSORPTION OF AMITRIPTYLINE-HCl, CHLORPROMAZINE-HCl AND CHLORDIAZEPOXIDE-HCl FROM SOLUTION
...Show More Authors

A detailed study of adsorption from solution of amitriptyline-HCl, chlorpromazine-HCl and
chlordiazepoxide-HCl on bentonite clay surface has been performed at variable conditions of
temperature, pH and ionic strength. It is aimed in this work to explore the capability of this clay in
treatment of poisoning by the mentioned drugs if taken in quantities higher than the usual doses.
Quantities of drugs adsorbed have been determined by UV spectrophotometric technique. The
sequence of adsorption in neutral media at 37.5 CÙ’ followed the order:
Amitriptyline-HCl > chlorpromazine-HCl > chlordiazepoxide-HCl.
The results were discussed in the light of Langmuir and Freundich adsorption isotherms. The usual

The effect of different finishing and polishing systems on surface roughness of new low polymerized composite materials (An in vitro study)
...Show More Authors

Background: Prophylaxis methods are used to mechanically remove plaque and stain from tooth surfaces; such methods give rise to loss of superficial structure and roughen the surface of composites as a result of their abrasive action. This study was done to assess the effect of three polishing systems on surface texture of new anterior composites after storage in artificial saliva. Materials and methods: A total of 40 Giomer and Tetric®N-Ceram composite discs of 12 mm internal diameter and 3mm height were prepared using a specially designed cylindrical mold and were stored in artificial saliva for one month and then samples were divided into four groups according to surface treatment: Group A (control group):10 specimens received no surfa

The effect of contact time between alginate impression material and type III dental stone on the surface properties of stone casts
...Show More Authors

Background: Alginate impression material is the irreversible hydrocolloid material that is widely used in dentistry. The contact time between alginate and gypsum cast could have a detrimental effect on the properties of the gypsum cast. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of various contact time intervals of Alginate impressions & type III dental stone on surface properties of stone cast. Materials and Methods: Time intervals tested were 1hour, 6 hours and 9 hours. Surface properties of stone cast evaluated were surface detail reproduction, hardness and roughness. Surface detail reproduction was determined using cylindrical brass test block in accordance with ISO 1563. Surface roughness was measured by profilometer

Studying the Effect of Magnesium Oxide Nanoparticles Prepared on the Surface of Poly Methyl Methacrylate
...Show More Authors

In this paper, magnesium oxide nanoparticles (MgO NPS) have been prepared and characterized and its concentration effect has been studied on polymers surface (MgO NPS). The results showed that the degradation of poly methyl methacrylate increased when using such metal oxide. The results also showed that the metal oxide increased the degradation of poly methyl methacrylate. X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, atomic force microscopy were used to study the morphological characteristics and size of nano MgO particles analysis.  Films were prepared by mixing the different masses of MgO NPS (0.025, 0.05, 0.1, 0.2 and 0.4) % with a polymer solution ratio (W/V) 7 %. Effect of certain chemical surface treatments on repair bond strength of some denture base materials
...Show More Authors

Background: Fracture of different types of acrylic denture base is a common problem associated with dental prosthesis. Studies suggested that the repair strength may be improved by several means including surface treatment with chemical agents. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of surface treatment with acrybond-bonding agent and monomer on fractured denture base in respect to transverse, tensile and shear bond strength and evaluation of the mode of failure by light microscope. Materials and methods: Two hundred seventy specimens were prepared and divided into 3 groups according to the material used (regular conventional, rapid simplified and high impact) heat cure acrylic. The specimen in each groups were prepared specificall
