Some Hormonal Changes in Women with Primary Hypothyroidism under the Effect of Thyroid Hormone Replacement Therapy
...Show More Authors

Hypothyroidism has been associated with disorders of glucose and insulin metabolism..The present study was designed to evaluate the possible change in some hormones (free testosterone, estradiol, prolactin, insulin), glucose and homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance (HOMA-IR) in women with primary hypothyroidism under thyroid hormone replacement therapy .This cross-sectional study was carried on 62 hypothyroid patients׳  women and 22  healthy women as control group at the specialized center for endocrinology and diabetes, AL-Rasafa Directorate of  Health Baghdad, with age range(15-60 years), diagnosed as having primary hypothyroidism on thyroxine replacement therapy with duration not less than four months. Each of the selected patients women and the healthy control were distributed into two groups, normal cyclic and postmenopausal. Blood samples were collected to measure thyroid stimulating hormone(TSH), total thyroxine (TT4) , total triiodothyronine (TT3), free thyroxine(fT4), free testosterone (FT), estradiol(E2) ,prolactin(PRL), insulin , fasting blood glucose( FBG), homeostasis model assessment-insulin resistance(HOMA-IR).  The results showed that the majority of hypothyroid women (older than 40 years and obese) had high levels of TSH in normal cyclic and postmenopausal patients women. A significant increase in f T4 and TT4 in postmenopausal patients women when  compared with postmenopausal control group f T4 and TT4.  A significant increase in free testosterone and FBG and significant decrease in TT3 and E2 levels in normal cyclic patients women when compared with normal cycle control group. High prolactin levels were found in the normal cyclic patients women in comparism with control group. Higher levels of insulin were found in normal cyclic and postmenopausal patients women as compared with control groups, however insulin was not statistically different. Significant increase in HOMA-IR  of  normal cyclic patients women compared with control group.

In conclusion, elevation of TSH levels in postmenopausal patients women  were less than in normal cyclic patients women this explain the increase levels of thyroxine hormone(T4)in this group of patients as compared with both control group and normal cyclic patients women. Some hormonal changes were found in normal cyclic hypothyroid patients women as compared with control group. The alteration of these hormones disappear when euthyroid state restored, so adjustment of thyroxine therapy is required in these patients.

Key words: Hypothyroidism , Thyrid replacement therapy.

Staphylococcus Sp.is the most common type of bacteria found in contamination place, we design this
study to compare the contamination accident between two hospitals in Baghdad. One of them isthe Burns
Specialist Hospital in the Medical CityinRusafa and another one is Al-Karama Hospital in Karkh. The
samples were collected fromOperativeWard No1 (OW1), Operative Ward No2 (OW2), Consulting Pharmacy
(CP), Emergency Room (ER), Reception Room (RR), Women's Ward (WW) and Men's Ward (MW).The
samples were taken from inside each clinical unit, surfaces, food, and air. The results showed that the
number of samples containing Staphylococcus sp. bacteria is 81, including 45 belonging to Al-Karama Burns

Preparation and Evaluation of Aceclofenac Solid Dispersion by Fusion Technique and Effervescent Assisted Fusion Technique: Comparative Study
...Show More Authors

Solid dispersion (SD) is one of the most widely used methods to resolve issues accompanied by poorly soluble drugs. The present study was carried out to enhance the solubility and dissolution rate of Aceclofenac (ACE), a BCS class II drug with pH-dependent solubility, by the SD method. Effervescent assisted fusion technique (EFSD) using different hydrophilic carriers (mannitol, urea, Soluplus®, poloxamer 188, and poloxamer 407) in the presence of an effervescent base (sodium bicarbonate and citric acid) in different drug: carrier: effervescent base ratio and the conventional fusion technique (FSD) were used to prepare ACE SD. Solubility, dissolution rate, Fourier transformation infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), PowderX-ray diffraction

Moisture Susceptibility and Fatigue Performance of Hydrated Lime–Modified Asphalt Concrete: Experiment and Design Application Case Study
...Show More Authors

Hydrated lime has been recognized as an effective additive used to improve asphalt concrete properties in pavement applications. However, further work is still needed to quantify the effect of hydrated lime on asphaltic concrete performance under varied weather, temperature, and environmental conditions and in the application of different pavement courses. A research project was conducted using hydrated lime to modify the asphalt concretes used for the applications of wearing (surface), leveling (binder), and base courses. A previous publication reported the experimental study on the resistance to Marshall stability and the volumetric properties, the resilient modulus, and permanent deformation at three different weather temperatures. This

Lab on-a-chip-based, an integrated microfluidic device lo-cost, rapid, and sensitive analysis of Augmentin

Microfluidic devices provide distinct benefits for developing effective drug assays and screening. The microfluidic platforms may provide a faster and less expensive alternative. Fluids are contained in devices with considerable micrometer-scale dimensions. Owing to this tight restriction, drug assay quantities are minute (milliliters to femtoliters). In this research, a microfluidic chip consisting of micro-channels carved on substrate materials built using an Acrylic (Polymethyl Methacrylate, PMMA) chip was designed using a Carbon Dioxide (CO2) laser machine. The CO2 parameters influence the chip’s width, depth, and roughness. To have a regular channel surface, and low roughness, the laser power (60 W), with scanning speed (250 m/s)

From Dysbiosis to Tissue Destruction: Periodontal Pathogens as Inducers of Gingival Epithelial–Mesenchymal Transition (A Narrative Review)
...Show More Authors

Periodontitis is a dysbiosis-driven inflammatory disease in which a pathogenic subgingival biofilm disrupts the host–microbe equilibrium and promotes progressive loss of tooth-supporting tissues. While periodontal destruction has traditionally been explained mainly through the host immune response, increasing experimental and clinical evidence suggests that epithelial–mesenchymal transition (EMT)-like changes in the gingival epithelium may contribute to barrier failure and tissue remodeling during disease progression. EMT is characterized by reduced epithelial adhesion and polarity, alongside a shift toward a mesenchymal-like phenotype with enhanced motility and impaired epithelial barrier function. This narrative review focuses

Removal of diclofenac from aqueous solution on apricot seeds activated carbon synthesized by pyro carbonic acid microwave
...Show More Authors

Pharmaceuticals have been widely remaining contaminants in wastewater, and diclofenac is the most common pharmaceutical pollutant. Therefore, the removal of diclofenac from aqueous solutions using activated carbon produced by pyrocarbonic acid and microwaves was investigated in this research. Apricot seed powder and pyrophosphoric acid (45 wt%) were selected as raw material and activator respectively, and microwave irradiation technique was used to prepare the activated carbon. The raw material was impregnated in pyrophosphoric acid at 80◦C with an impregnation ratio of 1: 3 (apricot seeds to phosphoric acid), the impregnation time was 4 h, whereas the power of the microwave was 700 watts with a radiation time of 20 min. A series o
