Background: Lamotrigine is a second generation Anti-epileptic drug; it is widely used for the treatment of epilepsy and bipolar disorder. Sufficient data is not available concerning its teratogenicity. Aim of the study: The study has been carried out to evaluate the effect of lamotrigine on Rat kidney development. Materials and Methods: The study was conducted on 10 pregnant Albino Rats (Rattus rattus) divided equally into two groups, control and experiment groups. Experiment group received lamotrigne 10mg/kg/day orally using naso-gastric tube from the first day of gestation until the first week after birth, while the control group received distilled water. Newborn kidneys were collected at day 7 postnatal and fixated in bouin’s solution, then embedded in the paraffin wax and left to become hard block. Strip of 5µm thickness was made using rotary microtome and blot on clean slides. The slides pass through staining technique using haematoxyllin-eosin and periodic acid Schiff stains. The slides examined under microscope and the kidneys were examined used scanning electron microscope. Results: Normal and well differentiated glomeruli and renal tubules were seen in the kidneys of the control group while a wide range of defect in the renal cortex and medulla elements were seen in the kidneys of treated group represented by enlargement, shrinkage, atrophy and fusion of glomeruli, damaging of the outer layer of bowman capsule with losing of nuclei, atubular glomeruli, extensive adhesion of glomerular tufts to bowman capsule. Expansion, disappearance and irregular capsular (bowman’s) space, cell death, detachment of cell from the basement membrane, dilatation of renal tubules, tubular atrophy, swelling of tubular cells, damaging of epithelium lining of renal tubules with nuclei losses and hemorrhage. Statistically significant differences have been shown in the diameter of renal corpuscle, glomerular tuft, proximal and distal convoluted tubules (p<0.001). There were no significant differences in the average diameter of Bowman’s space and podocyte between the control and experiment groups. Conclusion and Recommendation: The present study concludes that lamotrigine has teratogenic effects on the development of the rat’s kidney. Further research must be carried out to corroborate these findings and establish their applicability to humans
Current research included preparation, characterization of some new chitosan- hydroxy benzaldehyde-Schiff bases with maleic anhydride. The present study aimed to the synthesis and characterization of novel chitosan Schiff base compounds using para- hydroxy benzaldeh and maleic anhydride. The derivative of the schiff-chitosan base, which is associated with different drugs, has been replaced with different amino and hydroxy drugs. The derivative is characterized by different analytical techniques. The results of FT-IR studies clearly indicate construction of the chief amine group in chitosan and the emergence of new bands that correspond to the association of maleic anhydride with the chitosan base. To address this issue, the authors have proposed an innovative approach that uses UAVs for high-resolution aerial imaging. These images, collected by the Department of Computer Engineering at Al-Salam University in Baghdad and the Institute of Machine Design, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Poznan University of Technology, support improved orchard management, palm counting, and yield estimation. Precise spraying and pollination are also facilitated and accelerated, reducing overall cultivation costs. The proposed methodology involves processing captur

The effects of MnO₂ NPs on kinetics and diffusion were also analyzed. The synthesized NPs were characterized by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive X-ray analysis (EDX), and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), with XRD confirming the nanoparticle size of 6.23 nm. The adsorption kinetics were investigated using three models: pseudo-first-order (PFO), pseudo-second-order (PSO), and the intraparticle diffusion model. The PSO model provided the best fit (R² = 0.999), indicating that the adsorpti

To achieve the experimental tests, it was used a box of (600×600) mm cross-sectional and 600mm in height and a square footing of (50*50) mm and 10 mm in thickness attached to the skirt with Ds=0.5B and various an angle of (10°, 20°, 30°). The results showed that using skirts leads to a significant improvement in load-carrying capacity and decreased settlement. In addition, when the skirt angle increased, the ultimate load improved. Load-carrying capacity decreased with increasing eccentri

Many technical applications used conventional surface treatment, but laser surface hardening has recently been used to enhance the surface properties of many alloys. The mechanical characteristics, including microstructure, microhardness, and wear resistance of A159 grey cast iron, were studied, in addition to corrosion behaviour. The experimental laser parameters in this work were 0.9, 1.2, and 1.5 KW power with continuous wave carbon dioxide lasers with scanning speeds of 10 and 12 mm/s were used. The results found that phase-transitional alterations in microstructure were influenced by lase

Eng.Sci., University of Baghdad during fall season of 2019-2020, in order to evaluate the effect of nutrient solution type under hydroponic system (NFT) on growth, yield and quality of broccoli Brassica oleracea var.italica. Two experiments were carried out which were the standard solution experiment (Cooper) and the alternative solution experiment (ABEER) prepared from fertilizers. Results revealed that the type of solution used in the hydroponics system had non significant effect on the leaves content of N,K, Mg, Fe, Cu, B, Chlorophyll, leaves number, root length, weight of the main heads, number of side heads were not significantly affected. 13nt, refl
