The current study executes a fully coupled thermomechanical simulation of friction stir welding (FSW) process of aluminum 6061-T6 alloy T-joint type using finite element method. The analysis simulation accounts for the three steps of the FSW process which includes: plunging, dwelling, and moving stages. The temperature history, associated stresses and strains generated through the FSW phases, tool reaction force, and time-dependence of the energy dissipation were evaluated. To overcome the shortcomings of purely Lagrangian and Eulerian descriptions, Arbitrary Lagrangian Eulerian (ALE) formulation, adaptive meshing, and the mass scaling were used as techniques to improve sequence modeling of the friction stir welding process. Coulomb’s friction law with nonlinear friction coefficient was used to model contact between the tool and T-joint configuration. To verify the numerical results, an experimental setup was constructed to carry out the FSW of a T-joint. Meanwhile, embedded thermocouples were used in the advancing side to measure temperature close to the welding line. The results obtained throughout the simulation study showed that the temperature was symmetrically distributed across the T-joint width, and the temperature contour displayed a high gradient in the weld stirring zone with a V type shape after the plunge stage. Good correlation between numerical and experimental temperature results was obtained with a little shift in the peak value. The results of von-Mises value showed that the maximum stress has been moved from the skin part gradually into the stringer part with the advancement of the tool during plunging. The plastic strain value was higher on the advancing side in comparison with the retreating side. Moreover, the heat generation calculation showed that the frictional dissipation energy was responsible for generating most of the heat needed to obtain a successful FSW.

Circular data (circular sightings) are periodic data and are measured on the unit's circle by radian or grades. They are fundamentally different from those linear data compatible with the mathematical representation of the usual linear regression model due to their cyclical nature. Circular data originate in a wide variety of fields of scientific, medical, economic and social life. One of the most important statistical methods that represents this data, and there are several methods of estimating angular regression, including teachers and non-educationalists, so the letter included the use of three models of angular regression, two of which are teaching models and one of which is a model of educators. ) (DM) (MLE) and circular shrinkage mod

One and two-dimensional hydraulic models simulations are important to specify the hydraulic characteristics of unsteady flow in Al-Gharraf River in order to define the locations that facing problems and suggesting the necessary treatments. The reach in the present study is 58200m long and lies between Kut and Hai Cities. Both numerical models were simulated using HEC-RAS software, 5.0.4, with flow rates ranging from 100 to 350 m3/s. Multi-scenarios of gates openings of Hai Regulator were applied. While the openings of Al-Gharraf Head Regulator were ranged between 60cm to fully opened. The suitable manning roughness for the unsteady state was

Two types of fin arrays namely vertical fins array and V-fins array on heated vertical base plate are used with different heights and spaces. The influence of inclination angle of the plate , configuration of fins array and fin geometrical parameters such as fin height and fin spacing on the temperature distribution, base convection heat transfer coefficient and average Nusselt number have been plotted and discussed. The experimental data are correlated to a formula between average Nusselt number versus R

Show MoreThe Gas Assisted Gravity Drainage (GAGD) process has become one of the most important processes to enhance oil recovery in both secondary and tertiary recovery stages and through immiscible and miscible modes. Its advantages came from the ability to provide gravity-stable oil displacement for improving oil recovery, when compared with conventional gas injection methods such as Continuous Gas Injection (CGI) and Water – Alternative Gas (WAG). Vertical injectors for CO2 gas were placed at the top of the reservoir to form a gas cap which drives the oil towards the horizontal oil producing wells which are located above the oil-water-contact. The GAGD process was developed and tested in vertical wells to increase oil r

Field and laboratory work were conducted to measure the pressure heads and velocities, and water was sampled from different sites in the network and then tested to estimate chlorine residual. Records and field measurements were utilized to validate WaterGEMS software. Good agreement was obtained between the observed and predicted values of pressure with RMSE range between 0.09–0.17 and 0.08–0.09 for chlorine residual. The analysis of survival and reliability considered of topics and methods of vital statistics at the present time because of their importance in the various demographical, medical, industrial and engineering fields. This research focused generate random data for samples from the probability distribution Generalized Gamma: GG, known as: "Inverse Transformation" Method: ITM, which includes the distribution cycle integration function incomplete Gamma integration making it more difficult classical estimation so will be the need to illustration to the method of numerical approximation and then appreciation of the function of survival function. It was estimated survival function by simulation the way "Monte Carlo". The Entropy method used for the

Flexible tool-assisted sheet metal forming at micro scale is among the forming techniques that have increasingly attracted wide attention of researchers. This forming process is a suitable technique for producing micro components because of its inexpensive process, high quality products and relatively high production rate. This study presents a novel micro deep drawing technique through using floating ring as an assistant die with flexible pad as a main die. The floating ring designed with specified geometry is located between the process workpiece and the rubber pad.
