Numerical Modeling of Water Movement from Buried Vertical Ceramic Pipes through Coarse Soils
...Show More Authors

Problem of water scarcity is becoming common in many parts of the world. Thus to overcome this problem proper management of water and an efficient irrigation systems are needed. Irrigation with buried vertical ceramic pipe is known as a very effective in management of irrigation water. The two- dimensional transient flow of water from a buried vertical ceramic pipe through homogenous porous media is simulated numerically using the software HYDRUS/2D to predict empirical formulas that describe the predicted results accurately. Different values of pipe lengths and hydraulic conductivity were selected. In addition, different values of initial volumetric soil water content were assumed in this simulation as initial conditions. Different values of applied head were assumed in this simulation as a boundary conditions. In general, a good agreement was obtained when comparing the predicted results with available measured values. The results of this research showed that greater spreading occur in vertical direction. Increasing applied heads, initial soil water contents, pipe hydraulic conductivities, cause increasing the size of wetting patterns. Also the results showed that the empirical formulas which can be used for expressing the wetted width and depth in terms of applied head, initial soil water content, application time, pipe hydraulic conductivity, and pipe length, are good and can be used as a designing equations.

Assessing Reservoir Heterogeneity through Integrated Petrophysical and Geological Modeling: Case Study of the Yamama Reservoir, Ratawi Field, Southern Iraq
...Show More Authors

Constructing a geologically realistic reservoir model and accurately evaluating petrophysical properties are critical components for effective reservoir management. Such efforts enable reliable assessment of hydrocarbon potential and support predictive development scenarios through numerical simulations. This study aims to characterize the Yamama carbonate reservoir in the Ratawi Field, southern Iraq, and to build a static geological model as a foundation for future dynamic simulation. Comprehensive well data, including wireline logs, core analysis, and geological reports, were integrated to interpret petrophysical parameters such as shale volume, effective porosity, and water saturation. Additionally, facies classification was performed us

Using Microbubbles to Improve Transmission Oil in Pipes
...Show More Authors

Drag reduction (DR) techniques are used to improve the flow by spare the flow energy. The applications of DR are conduits in oil pipelines, oil well operations and flood water disposal, many techniques for drag reduction are used. One of these techniques is microbubbles. In this work, reduce of drag percent occurs by using a small bubbles of air pumped in the fluid transported. Gasoil is used as liquid transporting in the pipelines and air pumped as microbubbles. This study shows that the maximum value of drag reduction is 25.11%.

Production of Bioethanol from Waste Potatoes
...Show More Authors

In this research, production of ethanol from waste potatoes fermentation was studied using Saccharmyses cerevisiae. Potato Flour was prepared from potato tubers after cooking and drying at 85°C. Homogenous slurry of potato flour was prepared in water at solid liquid ratio 1:10. Liquefaction of potato flour slurry with α-amylase at 80°C for 40 min followed by saccharification with glucoamylase at 65°C for 2 hr .Fermentation of hydrolysate with Saccharomyces cerevisiae at 35°C for two days resulted in production of 33 g/l ethanol.

The parameters studied were; temperature, time of fermentation and pH. It was found that Saccharification process is affected by enzyme Amylo 300 conc

Hele-Shaw Modeling of CO2-Assisted Gravity Drainage with Bottom-Water Support: An Experimental Study
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Gas-assisted gravity drainage (GAGD) has emerged as a promising enhanced oil recovery (EOR) method that utilizes the natural buoyancy of injected gas to mobilize oil in gravity-dominated systems. The scope of this work is to experimentally evaluate the performance of CO2-assisted GAGD in the presence of bottom-water support, a common reservoir condition that complicates gas flooding efficiency. The primary objectives are to (i) assess the impact of injection pressure and oil production rate on oil recovery, (ii) determine the operational conditions that maintain gravity dominance and delay breakthrough, and (iii) identify the trade-offs between maximizing recovery and minimizing ga
... Microorganisms have an active role in biotechnology for example yeasts, especially in some genus like Saccharomyces, Pichia, and Candida. C.tropicalis one of the most important species of Candida and despite it is one of the causative agents of candidiasis but it has a major role in the production of many chemical compounds. C.tropicalis in the previous study was isolated from sheep dung and morphologically and molecularly classified the result of sequencing was elucidate 100% similarity between the studied isolate and other isolates inserted in DNA Data Bank of Japan DDBJ, physiologically this isolate tolerated 6% ethanol concentration in broth media with the ability to the pro

Abstract\

In this research, estimated the reliability of water system network in Baghdad was done. to assess its performance during a specific period. a fault tree through static and dynamic gates was belt and these gates represent logical relationships between the main events in the network and analyzed using dynamic Bayesian networks . As it has been applied Dynamic Bayesian networks estimate reliability by translating dynamic fault tree to Dynamic Bayesian networks and reliability of the system appreciated. As was the potential for the expense of each phase of the network for each gate . Because there are two parts to the Dynamic Bayesian networks and two part of gate (AND), which includes the three basic units of the

The Effect of Mass Ratio on Phytoremediation of Nickel Contaminated Water
...Show More Authors

Water pollution is one of the global challenges that the society must address in the 21st century aiming to improve the water quality, reduce human pollutants and ecosystem health impacts. In phytotoxicity test, the plant of Iresine herbstii was exposed to remove nickel from simulated wastewater using two different ratios (mass of plant to the mass of nickel) (,Rp/Ni) for 21 days with sub-surface batch system. During the exposure period, the removal of Ni concentrations (2, 5 and 10 mg/L) for two mass ratio (2,800 and 34,000) were (83.6%, 77.2%, 78.0%) and (86.8%, 97% and 95.6%), respectively. final result of the rate was found that the highest removal occurred, 97%, at a mass ratio of 34,000 and
