The Effects of Local Alendronate With or Without Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein 2 on Dental Implant Stability and Marginal Bone Level: A Randomized Controlled Study
...Show More Authors

The aim of this study was to evaluate the effects of local application of bisphosphonate gel and recombinant human bone morphogenic protein 2 gel, on titanium dental implant stability and marginal bone level. Twenty-seven patients with upper and lower missing posterior tooth/teeth were included in the study with a total of 71 implants that were used for rehabilitation. The implants were randomly divided into 4 groups: 3 study groups and 1 control. Group1; local application of bisphosphonate gel, group 2; local application of recombinant human bone morphogenic protein 2 gel, group 3; local application of a mixed formula of both gels. The gel application was immediately preimplant insertion, group 4; implant insertion without application of any medication. Using resonance frequency analyzer, implant stability was measured 4 times; primary, 8 weeks (second stage surgery), 12 weeks, and at least 14 weeks post functional loading. The level of the marginal bone around each implant were assessed using cone beam computed tomography. Four implants failed. Generally, there was a similar pattern of changes in implant stability over the study period in all groups and the stability was dependent on the healing time with no significant difference between groups. There was no significant treatment effect regarding marginal bone level differences of study groups against control, although there were significant differences on palatal and mesiodistal surfaces among the study (test) groups.

Offline Voice-Controlled Lower Limb Rehabilitation Robot Using Forward Kinematics and Fuzzy Command Matching
...Show More Authors

Lower limb Rehabilitation Robots (LLRRs) assist in therapeutic tasks that involve gait recovery and joint mobility recovery of the lower limbs, in patients recovering from neurologic injuries such as stroke as well as spinal cord injury. LLRRs can sometimes be driven by preprogrammed trajectories or Inverse Kinematics (IK) trajectories, which bring increased computational demand and command supported interaction. This paper proposes an interactive control framework for LLRRs using a hybrid mix of Forward Kinematics (FK) driven movement and an offline Voice Conversational Agent (VCA), based on the Vosk speech recognition engine. The framework proposed is modular in nature that is completely “local”, running offline with no need for the I

Gradation Effects on Strength and Deformation Properties of High-Quality Crushed Rock Base Materials
...Show More Authors

The importance of specifying proper aggregate grading for achieving satisfactory performance in pavement applications has long been recognized. To improve the specifications for superior performance, there is a need to understand how differences in aggregate gradations within the acceptable limits may affect unbound aggregate base behavior. The effects of gradation on strength, modulus, and deformation characteristics of high-quality crushed rock base materials are described here. Two crushed rock types commonly used in constructing heavy-duty granular base layers in the State of Victoria, Australia, with three different gradations each were used in this study. The gradations used represent the lower, medium, and upper gradation li

Biological and physiological effects of Coriandrum sativum on House fly Musca domestica (Diptera: Muscidae)
...Show More Authors

This Study is conducted to evaluate effects of (leaves, fruits) powder and (oil, alcohol) extract of Coriander (Coriandrum sativum) plant on some biological and physiological aspects of House fly, Musca domestica at laboratory conditions. Result show that these preparations caused biological effects represented in high dead percentage in second instar, fed on different concentrations of food treated with them reached to 27.6, 55.3 at concentration 20% of leaf and fruit powder respectively and 67.3, 77.2% at 10% of oil and alcohol extract of fruit, respectively. Furthermore, study also show reduction in pupation and adults emergence percentage. However, leafs powder had slighter effect than powder and extract of fruit of tested plant. The st

Background: Asthma is a common chronic disease in children in which the body’s airways swell, preventing the lungs from filling with air, there are many different inflammatory cells involved in asthma which can synthesize and release cytokines which are recognized to be important in chronic inflammation and play a critical role in the inflammatory response. Objectives: to assess the local effect of ICS on oral tissue by measuring Interlukine-12 level and Candida albicans colony in saliva among12 year's old asthmatic children who were collected from AL- Zahra Center Advisory for Allergy and Asthma, and compares them with non-asthmatic children of the same age and gender.Type of the study: Cross –sectional study. Methods: The total samp
