The article is devoted to football lexicon in Arabic and Russian. The charr acteristics that determine the coincidence of lexical units in the Arabic and Russian languages are revealed. Football related words and phrases exist in different languages and in most cases they are the same. With the develop ment of football in the world and thanks to the media, new words and terms have become firmly established in the language. The paper is concerned with a linguistic analysis of  the blurbs, used in advertising English and Arabic novels.  A blurb is an advertising persuasive text, written on the back cover of a book. Blurbs of selected novels are chosen as  representative examples. The selected blurbs belong to two languages, Arabic and English. The paper aims at studying the linguistic features that are characteristic of blurbs as advertising texts and making a sort of comparison between English blurbs and Arabic ones. They are widespread; individuals commit them while engaging in various activities, including at work, at home, while creating advertisements, and in the media. This study aims to investigate the rhetorical strategies accompanied with producing the fallacious arguments selected from the American Film “12 Angry Men (1957)”. The study adopts Damer’s (2009) model for the identification of fallacy.
