Educating societies on sustainable development
...Show More Authors

To move forward on the path of goodness and peace, we must realize that, in the midst of the great diversity of cultures and forms of human life in the world, that we form one human nation, which God Almighty created to worship Him on His earth and under His heavens and to enjoy His bounties and natural resources that God Almighty has bestowed upon that nation. On one land, and it is governed by one common destiny. Every country has been endowed with a natural resource by God Almighty that distinguishes it from the other country to live in prosperity if these wealth are distributed equally among the members of the same society and societal justice is achieved. We must join together to work for the establishment of a sustainable global community, based on respect for the beautiful nature that God Almighty created for mankind to live in peace, security and prosperity, and to achieve justice, equality, universal human rights, economic justice, and a culture of peace.

Evaluation of the Influence of Body Mass Index and Signal-to-Noise Ratio on the PET/CT Image Quality in Iraqi Patients with Liver Cancer
...Show More Authors

Image quality has been estimated and predicted using the signal to noise ratio (SNR). The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between body mass index (BMI) and SNR measurements in PET imaging using patient studies with liver cancer. Three groups of 59 patients (24 males and 35 females) were divided according to BMI. After intravenous injection of 0.1 mCi of 18F-FDG per kilogram of body weight, PET emission scans were acquired for (1, 1.5, and 3) min/bed position according to the weight of patient. Because liver is an organ of homogenous metabolism, five region of interest (ROI) were made at the same location, five successive slices of the PET/CT scans to determine the mean uptake (signal) values and its standard deviat

Short-Term (4 Day) Effects of Oral Rinsing with Miswak and Green Tea on Gingival Crevicular Fluid Flow and IL-1β Levels: A Pilot Study
...Show More Authors

Despite the antiplaque effect of mouth-rinsing with a combination composed of miswak (Salvadora persica L.) and green tea (Camellia sinensis var. assamica) extracts, no data are available regarding its effect on gingival tissue at the molecular level. This pilot study aimed to assess the effect of oral rinsing with this combination on gingival crevicular fluid (GCF) flow and IL-1β levels. Ten subjects rinsed with either the combination, 0.12% chlorhexidine gluconate (CHX) or distilled water without toothbrushing for 4 days after receiving baseline polishing. GCF IL-1β concentration, influx, resting volume and plaque quantity were measured at baseline and after 4 days for each intervention. No significant differences in GCF flow or

Assessment of the impact of dust pollution on chlorophyll, carotenoids, and ascorbic acid in the vegetation leaves of some areas in Baghdad – Al-Rusafa, Iraq
...Show More Authors

Baghdad, one of Iraq’s most crowded cities, faces severe air pollution caused by rapid population growth, dense traffic, and limited green spaces. Monitoring at five sites in Al-Rusafa during 2024–2025 showed that pollutant levels, especially PM₁₀, PM₂.₅, and TSP, exceed national and global limits. The most polluted areas lacked vegetation and had heavy traffic, while greener zones showed lower concentrations. Seasonal variations were evident: winter had the highest pollution, summer the lowest but with greater plant stress. Ascorbic acid and the Air Pollution Tolerance Index (APTI) proved reliable indicators of plant resistance. Overall, the study confirms plants’ role as effective bio monitors and stresses the need f

The spontaneous emission performance of a quantum emitter coupled to a hybrid plasmonic waveguide with specified output polarization for on-chip plasmonic single-photon source
...Show More Authors

Nowadays, most of the on-chip plasmonic single-photon sources emit an unpolarized stream of single photons that demand a subsequent polarizer stage in a practical quantum cryptography system. In this paper, we numerically demonstrated the coupling of the light emitted from a quantum emitter (QE) at 700 nm wavelength to the propagation mode supported by an on-chip hybrid plasmonic waveguide (HPW) polarization rotator. Our results proved that the light emitted is linearly polarized at 0º, 45º/−45º, and 90º with propagation lengths of 5 μm, 3.3 μm, and 3.9 μm, respectively. Moreover, high power-conversion efficiency was obtained from an applied transverse magnetic (TM) mode (0º-polarization) to a transverse electric (TE) (90º-polari
