Pain and Satisfaction among Type 2 Diabetic Patients: Effects of Coughing, ShotBlocker and Vibration during Insulin Injection: A Randomised Controlled Trial
...Show More Authors
Background:

Diabetes mellitus is a chronic illness that commonly leads to progressive and incapacitating of patients’ condition over the past 20 years.

Aim:

The aim of the study was to evaluate the effects of the coughing technique, ShotBlockerTo evaluate the effects of the coughing technique, ShotBlocker and vibration device on pain intensity and patient satisfaction during subcutaneous (SC) insulin injections in hospitalised adults with Type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM).

Subjects and Methods:

The study was conducted at the Imam Al-Hassan Al Mujtaba Teaching Hospital, Al-Imam Al-Hasan Teaching Hospital, Al-Hindia Teaching Hospital, and Imam Al-Hussein Medical City in Holy Karbala. A simple random sampling of adults with T2DM was assigned in the current study from the previously mentioned setting. One hundred and forty patients were classified into 4 groups, 35 patients in the ShotBlocker group, 36 patients in the Vibration group 38 patients in the coughing group and 31 patients in the control group.

Results:

There were statistically significant differences in pain scores among the study groups (P = 0.000). The vibration group had significantly lower pain scores (P = 0.000). Similarly, the ShotBlocker group demonstrated significantly lower pain scores (P = 0.000), and the coughing group also exhibited significantly lower pain scores (P = 0.000) compared to the control group. Regarding satisfaction scores, there were statistically significant differences among the groups (P = 0.000). The vibration group had significantly higher satisfaction scores (P = 0.000). Similarly, the ShotBlocker group showed significantly higher satisfaction scores (P = 0.000), and the coughing group had significantly higher satisfaction scores (P = 0.004) compared to the control group.

Conclusions:

The coughing technique, ShotBlocker and vibration device are effective, non-invasive methods for reducing pain and enhancing patient satisfaction during SC insulin injections in adults with T2DM.

The Effects of the research and technology development contract -A comparative study-
...Show More Authors

Researching the effects of the research and technological development contract, determining its extent and demarcating the boundaries of the obligations imposed in it, is the cornerstone of economic growth and development, because defining these obligations removes the ambiguity and conflict between interests, by stating the rights owed to each party and even trying to reconcile them, or impose protection by specifying guarantees that are compatible with the essence of the R&D contract, For the purpose of studying the subject thoroughly, we will divide this research into two sections. The first is devoted to identifying the parties to the research and technological development contract. As for the other topic, we will explain the obligation

Total L-carnitine and insulin resistance in non-obese and obese Iraqi women with polycystic ovary syndrome
...Show More Authors

Background: Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most frequent endocrine illnesses affecting reproductive - age women. L-carnitine has important roles in oxidative stress, energy production and glucose metabolism. It affects insulin resistance as decreased plasma carnitine level has been well reported in type II diabetes mellitus. Hence, it means L-carnitine may reduce insulin resistance which is found in PCO disease. Objective: This study aims to measure the level of L-carnitine and insulin resistance in both obese and non- obese patients with PCOS. Patients and Methods: Sixty women within the reproductive age with PCOS (30 obese and 30 non- obese) were recruited from the Gynecology and Obstetrics Outpatient Clinic in Baghdad T

Mixed pain: clinical practice recommendations
...Show More Authors

Mixed pain, defined by the concurrent involvement of nociceptive, neuropathic, and sometimes nociplastic mechanisms, poses a significant diagnostic and therapeutic challenge within modern pain medicine. This complex pain phenotype is increasingly recognized as a prevalent and burdensome clinical entity, yet it remains substantially underdiagnosed and sub-optimally managed across diverse healthcare settings. Epidemiological data indicate that mixed pain affects a substantial proportion of patients with chronic pain syndromes and is consistently associated with more severe symptomatology, prolonged pain duration, functional impairment, diminished quality of life, and escalated healthcare resource utilization compared to pain of a sing

A Numerical Study of Tertiary Oil Recovery by Injection of Low-Salinity Water
...Show More Authors

The injection of Low Salinity Water (LSWI) as an Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) method has recently attracted a lot of attention. Extensive research has been conducted to investigate and identify the positive effects of LSWI on oil recovery. In order to demonstrate the impact of introducing low salinity water into a reservoir, simulations on the ECLIPSE 100 simulator are being done in this work. To simulate an actual reservoir, an easy static model was made. In order to replicate the effects of injecting low salinity water and normal salinity, or seawater, the reservoir is three-phase with oil, gas, and water. It has one injector and one producer. Five cases were suggested to investigate the effect of low salinity water injection with differen

Patients and methods: This retrospective study enrolled 226 Iraqi female patients who were diagnosed with breast cancer. Data were registered on the exact time period between signing the histopathological report and the surgical treatment. Other recorded variables included the age of the patients, their level
