This study reveals the results of a numerical simulation performed using the ABAQUS/CAE finite element program. The study aimed to provide a simulation model that can forecast the shear behavior of reinforced concrete beams confined with reinforcing meshes. Limited numerical studies have been conducted using geogrid or FRP mesh as shear reinforcement, with limited representation accuracy and limited material quality. The results were compared to published experimental findings in the literature. The finding of the finite element model and the experimental results were highly comparable; consequently, the model was determined to be valid. Following this, the domain of numerical analyses was broadened to include the investigation of many aspects, like the material of reinforcement mesh, the angle of inclination of mesh strip, and the number of mesh strips. The results show that the inclined strip beams gave ultimate loads greater than the beams with vertical strips, where the ultimate load for beams with inclined strips was higher than that for beams with vertical strips by 5.6, 2.5, and 9.4% for beams with geogrid, geotextile, and GFRP mesh, respectively. The smaller the strip width and the larger the number, the better. Beams with inclined strips (45°) gave higher ductility indexes than similar beams with vertical strips. Beams with six strips (width of 50 mm) gave higher ductility indexes than similar beams with four strips (width of 75 mm).
High-sensitive cardiac troponin I (hs-cTnI) is a recognized marker of myocardial injury in acute coronary syndromes, but its utility in chronic coronary syndromes (CCS) remains unclear. Midkine (MK), a heparin-binding growth factor, plays a role in inflammation and vascular remodeling in atherosclerosis. This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the predictive value of serum hs-cTnI and MK in determining the severity of coronary artery obstruction in patients with CCS. The study included 125 subjects undergoing coronary angiography (CAG) at the Iraqi Center of Heart Disease/ Medical City/Baghdad, from March to December 2024. Subjects were classified into three groups based on CAG findings: no CAD, 1- or 2-vessel disease, and 3-ve

Show MorePeriodontitis is a chronic inflammatory disease initiated by dysbiotic biofilms and sustained by an altered host response, resulting in progressive destruction of the tooth-supporting tissues. Alongside immune-mediated damage, epithelial–mesenchymal transition has been proposed as a contributing mechanism in gingival barrier disruption and periodontal tissue remodeling. This narrative review examines the roles of the EMT-related transcription factors Snail1 and Twist1 in periodontitis, with particular focus on their involvement in epithelial junction loss, mesenchymal activation, and disease-associated tissue change. Relevant literature was identified through targeted searches of PubMed/MEDLINE and Google Scholar using terms relat

One of the major threats is distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks. It aims to exhaust network resources to make its services unavailable to legitimate users. DDoS attack detection based on machine learning algorithms is considered one of the most used techniques in SDN security. In this paper, four machine learning techniques (Random Forest, K-nearest neighbors, Naive Bayes, and Logistic Regression) have been tested to detect DDoS attacks. Also, a mitigation technique has been used to eliminate the attack effect on SDN. RF and KNN were selected because of their high accuracy results. Three types of ne

The non-flammable alternative refrigerants considered in the present research were R134a, R404A, R407C, R410A, R448A, and R507A. Using the basic conservation laws, the VCRS was modeled during steady-state operation and solved using engineering equation solver (EES) software. Three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction from images is a most beneficial method of object regeneration by using a photo-realistic way that can be used in many fields. For industrial fields, it can be used to visualize the cracks within alloys or walls. In medical fields, it has been used as 3D scanner to reconstruct some human organs such as internal nose for plastic surgery or to reconstruct ear canal for fabricating a hearing aid device, and others. These applications need high accuracy details and measurement that represent the main issue which should be taken in consideration, also the other issues are cost, movability, and ease of use which should be taken into consideration. This work has presented an approach for design and construc
