Equilibrium and kinetic modeling studies for the adsorption-desorption of methyl violet 10B onto leather waste
...Show More Authors

In this study, vegetable tanned leather waste of cow (VTLW-C) is used as adsorbent for removing methyl violet 10B dye from aqueous solution. The VTLW-C adsorbent was characterized by FTIR and SEM in order to evaluate its surface properties before using in adsorption experiments. Batch adsorption method was applied to study the effect of different factors such as weight of leather waste, time of shaking, and starting concentration of methyl violet 10B dye. Different isothermal models such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Temkin and Dubinin-Radushkevich (D–R) were used to analyze the experimental data. Kinetic study proceeds using (PFO) kinetic model and (PSO) kinetic model. The results showed better agreement with the Freundlich model; this means that the adsorption process was performed on a heterogeneous surface, and the maximum adsorption amounts of VTLW-C is 29.411 mg/g. From the value mean, free energy (E) for D–R isotherm the adsorption followed a physisorption nature process. Thermodynamic study proved that the adsorption process is exothermic and spontaneous. Experimental kinetic results are compatible with (PSO) model with correlation coefficients R2 > 0.9998. Finally, the desorption and regeneration showed that the adsorbent could be easily reused related to the weak vanderwasll's force that accompanied the physical adsorption. VTLW-C is used as a good and low cost adsorbent to remove dye from wastewaters.

Using Infographics as An Educational Technology Tool in EFL Writing: University of Baghdad Case Study
...Show More Authors

Infographics have the capability to organize and display information in a way that is easy for viewers to retrieve and make observations. While infographics have been successful in various fields, their potential benefits in composition writing have not been explored. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the perspectives of Iraqi EFL students who used infographics as an educational technology tool in composition writing, and to identify how gender influences students’ performance when using infographics in EFL writing classes. The significance of this study lies in its integration of infographics as an educational technology tool for teaching writing, aligning with the current trend of technology integration in ed

Time Series Analysis of Total Suspended Solids Concentrations in Euphrates River in Al-Nasria Province
...Show More Authors

The monthly time series of the Total Suspended Solids (TSS) concentrations in Euphrates River at Nasria was analyzed as a time series. The data used for the analysis was the monthly series during (1977-2000).

The series was tested for nonhomogenity and found to be nonhomogeneous. A significant positive jump was observed after 1988. This nonhomogenity was removed using a method suggested by Yevichevich (7). The homogeneous series was then normalized using Box and Cox (2) transformation. The periodic component of the series was fitted using harmonic analyses, and removed from the series to obtain the dependent stochastic component. This component was then modeled using first order autoregressive model (Markovian chain). The above a

Potential of Microalgae Cultivation in Dairy Wastewater as a Step in Low-Cost Biofuel Production
...Show More Authors

The present study addresses adopting the organic and nutritious materials in dairy wastewater as media for cultivation of microalgae, which represent an important source of renewable energy. This study was carried out through cultivation of three types of microalgae; Chlorella sp., Synechococcus, and Anabaena. The results shows the success the cultivation of the Synechococcus and  Chlorella Sp, while the Anabaena microalgae were in low-growth level. The highest growth was in the Synechococcus farm, followed by Chlorella and Anabaena. However, the growth of Synechococcus required 10 days to achieve this increase that re

Treatment of Al-Muthanna Petroleum Refinery Wastewater by Electrocoagulation Using a Tubular batch Electrochemical Reactor
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>An electrocoagulation process has been used to eliminate the chemical oxygen demand (COD) from wastewaters discharged from the Al-Muthanna petroleum refinery plant. In this process, a circular aluminum bar was used as a sacrificial anode, and hallow cylinder made from stainless steel was used as a cathode in a tubular batch electrochemical Reactor. Impacts of the operating factors like current density (5-25mAcm-2), NaCl addition at concentrations (0-2g/l), and pH at values (3-11) on the COD removal efficiency were studied.</p><p>Results revealed that the increase in current density increases the COD removal efficiency, whereas an increase</p> ... Background: Developing Goalkeeper’s performance is imperative to defence the goal. As the Football match’s nature needs implementning the skill with strength, and speed. so, the Goalkeeper demands special physical abilities that enabling him the ball blocking skill masterly. Objetive: The study aimed to identify the effect of developing some special physical abilities on the goalkeeper’s performance level while blocking executed balls from the penalty mark in football using plyometric training. Methodology: The experimental approach (continuous training that divided into two phases: General preparation, and Special preparation stage) was adopted for one experimental group by pre/post-measurements. Dynamical Behaviours of Stage-Structured Fractional-Order Prey-Predator Model with Crowley-Martin Functional Response
...Show More Authors

In this paper, the dynamic behaviour of the stage-structure prey-predator fractional-order derivative system is considered and discussed. In this model, the Crowley–Martin functional response describes the interaction between mature preys with a predator.  e existence, uniqueness, non-negativity, and the boundedness of solutions are proved. All possible equilibrium points of this system are investigated.  e su‰cient conditions of local stability of equilibrium points for the considered system are determined. Finally, numerical simulation results are carried out to con‹rm the theoretical results.

Absorption Coefficient of a Double-Layer Inhomogeneous Micro-perforated Panel Backed with Multiple Cavity Depths
...Show More Authors

Double-layer micro-perforated panels (MPPs) have been studied extensively as sound absorption systems to increase the absorption performance of single-layer MPPs. However, existing proposed models indicate that there is still room for improvement regarding the frequency bands of absorption for the double-layer MPP. This study presents a double-layer MPP formed with two single MPPs with inhomogeneous perforation backed by multiple cavities of varying depths. The theoretical formulation is developed using the electrical equivalent circuit method to calculate the absorption coefficient under a normal incident sound. The simulation results show that the proposed model can produce absorption coefficient with wider absorption bandwidth compared w
