Autoantibody Profile in Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Patients
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is an autoimmune disease, in which the etiology is not well-understood; however, interactions between environmental and genetic factors in predisposed individuals have been recognized. As a consequence, immunological alternations occur and immune cells are involved, especially T and B lymphocytes that are activated to produce different immune components. Among these components are autoantibodies that react with self-antigens aside from non-self-antigens due to the proposed theory of molecular mimicry. Accordingly, the current study was designed to examine the profile of different autoantibodies in SLE patients by using the indirect membrane based enzyme immunoassay for the quantitative measurement of IgG class antibodies.Subjects:Sixty-four SLE patients (32 arthritis and 32 nephritis patients) and 32 healthy subjects (control) were enrolled in the study, and their sera were tested for anti-nucleosome, anti-histone, anti-smD1, anti-PCNA, anti-PO, anti-SS-A/Ro-60, anti-SS-A/Ro-52, anti-SS-B/La, anti-CENP, anti-SCI-70, anti-U1snRNP, anti-AMA-M2, anti-Jo-1, anti-PM-SCI, anti-Mi2 and anti-Ku autoantibodies in order to evaluate the autoimmunity status in SLE patients. Results:The sera of control subjects were negative for these antibodies; therefore, the comparisons were limited to the two groups of SLE patients; arthritis and nephritis. The highest percentage of seropositive arthritis patients was observed for anti-SS-A/Ro-60, anti-CENP and anti-U1snRNP antibodies (100.0%), while the lowest percentage was recorded for anti-Jo-1 antibody (15.6%). For nephritis patients, anti-U1snRNP antibody (87.5%) was also observed to have the highest percentage, and anti-Jo-1 antibody (3.1%) also recoded the lowest percentage. However, four autoantibodies (anti-PCNA, anti-SS-A/Ro-60, anti-SS-B/La and anti-CENP antibodies) showed different profiles in arthritis and nephritis SLE patients. They showed a significant increased percentage in arthritis patients compared to nephritis patients (anti-PCNA: 87.5vs. 50.0%,p= 0.003; anti-SS-A/Ro-60: 100.0vs. 81.2%,p= 0.02; anti-SS-B/La: 75.0vs. 43.8%,p= 0.02; anti-CENP: 100.0vs. 43.8%,p= 0.001).Conclusion:These findings suggest the diagnostic potential of autoantibodies as early markers for SLE development.

The Aesthetic Discourse of the Pop Artists and its Representations in the Output of Students of the Department of Art Education: هند عبدالله عبد
...Show More Authors

The emergence of artistic movements in Western countries was after the period of modernity. They have introduced a great dialectical problem at the level of thought and discourse, which necessitated a change in the course of the aesthetic discourse into new visions. Thus, the present research aims to identify the aesthetic discourse of pop artists' Art and its representations in the outputs of the students of the Department of Art Education. The theoretical framework included two sections: the first one, what is the aesthetic discourse and the second is the educational bases of the students' outputs. The procedures of the current research included the analytical descriptive approach. The research sample consisted of (4) outputs chosen ac

<b>Molecular study of <i>Streptococcus equi</i> isolated from horses with strangles in Iraq</b>
...Show More Authors

Background: Strangles is a highly contagious equine respiratory disease caused by Streptococcus equi subsp. equi. It is a globally significant pathogen and one of the most common infectious agents in horses. In Iraq, no sequencing data on this pathogen are available, and only two molecular studies have been published to date. This study provides preliminary insights into strain diversity and provides a foundation for future large-scale investigations. Aim: This study aimed to investigate the molecular characteristics, identify SeM gene alleles, and perform a phylogenetic analysis of S. equi isolates from horses in Baghdad, Iraq. Methods: We analyzed 59 Streptococcus spp. isolates previously obtained from equine clinical sample

Experimental Study on the Effect of Insertion of Copper Lessing Rings in Phase Change Material (PCM) on the Performance of Thermal Energy Storage Unit
...Show More Authors

Abstract

One of the most suitable materials to be used in latent heat thermal energy storage system (LHTES) are Phase change materials, but a problem of slow melting and solidification processes made many researchers focusing on how to improve their thermal properties. This experimental work concerned with the enhancing of thermal conductivity of phase change material. The enhancing method was by the addition of copper Lessing rings in phase change material (paraffin wax). The effect of diameter for the used rings was studied by using two different diameters (0.5 cm and 1cm). Also, three volumetric percentages of rings addition (3%, 6% and 10%) were tested for each diameter. The discharging process was done with

Abstract

The research aims to examine the relationship between psychological flow, psychological well-being, and self-management among a sample of fine artists in the Makkah region and its governorates. The research also aims to examine the mean group differences in psychological flow, psychological well-being, and self-management due to demographic variables (sex and years of practicing arts). The sample consists of (110) male and female fine artists. The descriptive correlational approach was performed to collect the data by using the psychological flow scale developed by Payne et al (2011), which was translated by the researcher, the Oxford happiness questionnaire developed by Hills and Argyle (2002), it has t

Artificial intelligence-driven analysis of dynamic melting in open shell-and-tube latent-heat storage: Effects of PCM inlet pressure, port geometry, and positioning
...Show More Authors

This numerical study explores dynamic melting as an enhancement strategy to improve heat transfer in thermal energy storage (TES) systems utilizing phase change materials (PCM) with openings. Optimizing such systems is crucial for advancing renewable energy storage and integration. A 3D model simulates RT35 PCM flowing through a shell-and-tube heat exchanger annulus. The effects of varying PCM inlet slot diameter (2.5–7.5 mm), inlet pressure (1–40 Pa), and inlet/outlet port positioning on melting fraction and temperature distributions are computationally evaluated. Results show that increasing slot diameter from 2.5 mm to 7.5 mm reduces melting time by 13.6 % (from 550 to 475 min). Raising inlet pressure from 10 Pa to 40 Pa cuts melting

Founding a System to secure deposits and protecting the depositors is considered one of the important and exchanged subjects out there in the banking system/field in Iraq at the current time, and the reason behind the exchange and spread of this subject is due to the financial crisis of which the banking sector is suffering from and the stumbling of many banks, those factors have had led to the insecurity of the depositors and their mistrust towards banks, thus, it is necessary to create a system to secure deposits in which depositors would be compensated for the losses caused by the banks' failures. in addition, it could be a countermeasure system which maintains the banking stability, protects the rights of depositors and gains

Artificial intelligence (AI) aims to develop systems that achieve a level of intelligence similar to or surpassing human intelligence. AI applications are designed to mimic human cognitive behaviors, with the goal of embedding human knowledge into computers through what is known as knowledge bases. Computers can then use software tools to search these bases, perform comparisons, and conduct analyses to derive and infer the best solutions to various problems. This process resembles how humans solve new problems in their daily lives by relying on past experiences, predicting potential outcomes, and using reasoning skills to evaluate the best available solutions. This study investigates the current use of AI applications in education b
