Abstract Definition of the specifics of color designation and color painting by M. Sholokhov. The general goal of the study determined the formulation and solution of the following tasks: -identify the color words «black» and «white» in the book of the novel, determine their semantics and frequency of use; -show the compatibility of color words in order to detect typical contexts for the implementation of aesthetic and social meanings of color vocabulary,. We determined the composition of the lexical-semantic group is based on the commonality of the logical-subject content of adjectives or their individual meanings, which is detected by the presence of connections between lexical meanings. Semantic connections between lexical meanings are established on the basis of the analysis of dictionary entries in the «Dictionary of the Modern Russian Literary Language.” To consider the expressive-stylistic function of adjectives, the following methodological techniques were used: I. Classification of sentences containing color designations by the colors «black and white» (and within color classes - by thematic groups of nouns - «Man», «Clothes», «Nature», «Animals», and «Other objects.” 2 .Selection of nouns by the number of color designations used with them. The main initial provisions of the article are determined by the understanding of the word as the main unit of the lexical-semantic system, the recognition of the relationship between the paradigmatic and syntagmatic properties of the word as a lexical unit in general and as a member of a particular lexical-semantic group, in particular. The works of F.P. Filin, V.I. Kodukhov, L.M. Vasiliev, E.V. Kuznetsova are fundamental in understanding the lexicalsemantic group for our study.
This paper addresses the new coloring in the concept of dystopian society as represented by the positive role of one of the characters vs. the passive role of the government and its mutual effect on the people of the society.
