Molecular Alterations in IDH 1/2 Genes among Iraqi Adult Acute Myeloid Leukemia Patients
...Show More Authors
BACKGROUND:

The recurrent somatic variations in IDH1/2 genes in AML play imperative roles in epigenetic dysregulation and the pathogenesis of AML, which could be useful prognostic markers for risk stratification.

AIM:

The aim of the study was to detect the frequency of R132 mutations in the IDH1 gene and R140Q mutation in the IDH2 gene with their treatment outcomes.

PATIENTS, MATERIALS AND METHODS:

IDH molecular alterations were detected by high-resolution-melting (HRM)-based real-time PCR assay in 56 newly diagnosed AML patients.

RESULTS:

IDH molecular alterations were identified in 39.3% of AML patients; IDH1 R132 and IDH2 R140Q mutations were present in 32.1% and 12.5% of patients, respectively. The mean age of patients with mutant IDH (52±14.87 years) is higher than in wild type (41.68±20.4 years), P = 0.041. Females were seen in 53% of mutant IDH patients while in the wild-type 73.3% were males (P = 0.038). There were significantly lower mean levels of hemoglobin, absolute neutrophil count, and platelet count in mutant IDH than in wild-type (P = 0.015, 0,.03 and 0.01, respectively). After induction remission therapy, 68.2% of mutated IDH and 64.7% of unmutated IDH patients didn't achieve complete remission (P > 0.05). After 6 months; 59.1% of mutated IDH and 64.7% of unmutated IDH had unfavorable outcomes (P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONS:

IDH mutations are common in Iraqi adult AML patients and present in older age and females predominance with lower Hb level, WBC count, absolute neutrophil count, platelet count, and less extramedullary involvement. There is an insignificant association with treatment outcomes.

Mechanical Properties of High Performance Concrete Containing Waste Plastic as Aggregate
...Show More Authors

The world's population growth and the increasing demand for new infrastructure facilities and buildings , present us with the vision of a higher resources consumption, specially in the form of more durable concrete such as High Performance Concrete (HPC) . Moreover , the growth of the world pollution by plastic waste has been tremendous. The aim of this research is to investigate the change in mechanical properties of HPC with added waste plastics in concrete. For this purpose 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% in volume of natural fine aggregate in the HPC mixes were replaced by an equal volume of Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) waste , got by shredded PET bottles. The mechanical propert

Steps were taken to obtain the Kojic acid crystals from local fungal isolation A. flavus WJF81 by separating the fermentation products from the fungus mycelium from the production plant at the centrifuge at a speed of 5000 cycles for 10 minutes. The extraction was followed by ethyl acetate then supernatant concentrate by using rotary evaporator, and dried with heat oven 37ºC. Long, yellowish, pristine acid crystals were obtained that examined the optical microscope with a magnification force of 10x and 40x. The melting point of kojic acid was determined between 152.9-153.5 °C Results of the diagnosis of Kojic acid by applying High pressure liquid chromatography HPLC technique showed that the acid was at one peak, which was close to the

(E)-2-(benzo[d]thiazol-2-yliazenyl)-4-methoxyaniline was synthesized by reaction the diazonium salt of 2-aminobenzothiazole with 4-methoxyaniline. Identified of the ligand by spectral techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR,1HNMR and LC-Mass) and microelemental analysis (C.H.N.S.O) are used to produce of the azo ligand. Complexes of (Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+ and Zn2+) were synthesized and identified using atomic absorption of flame, elemental analysis, infrared and UV-Vis spectral process as well conductivity and magnetic quantifications. Performance Comparison of Transport Layer Protocols
...Show More Authors

Transport layer is responsible for delivering data to the appropriate application process on the host computers. The two most popular transport layer protocols are Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and User Datagram Protocol (UDP). TCP is considered one of the most important protocols in the Internet. UDP is a minimal message-oriented Transport Layer protocol. In this paper we have compared the performance of TCP and UDP on the wired network. Network Simulator (NS2) has been used for performance Comparison since it is preferred by the networking research community. Constant bit rate (CBR) traffic used for both TCP and UDP protocols.

Satire is genre of the literary arts that has always been the source of human interest. Because  it is difficult to accept direct criticism, Satire appears as a literary tool in which vices, follies, abuses and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, with the intent of shaming individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. A satirical critic usually employs irony to attain this goal. Although satire is usually meant to be humorous, its greater purpose is often profitable social criticism, using wit to draw at

Study the Effect of Catalyst -to- Oil Ratio Parameter (COR) on Catalytic Cracking of Heavy Vacuum Gas Oil
...Show More Authors

This work deals with the production of light fuel cuts of (gasoline, kerosene and gas oil) by catalytic cracking treatment of secondary product mater (heavy vacuum gas oil) which was produced from the vacuum distillation unit in any petroleum refinery. The objective of this research was to study the effect of the catalyst -to- oil ratio parameter on catalytic cracking process of heavy vacuum gas oil feed at constant temperature (450 °C). The first step of this treatment was, catalytic cracking of this material by constructed batch reactor occupied with auxiliary control devices, at selective range of the catalyst –to- oil ratio parameter (  2, 2.5, 3 and 3.5) respectively.  The conversion of heavy vacuum gas
