Reciprocal dynamics of empathy and attachment styles in pediatric emergency nursing care: A cross-sectional study
...Show More Authors
Background

Despite their critical role in child care, emergency department (ED) nurses’ empathy and their attachment style toward children have not been thoroughly studied.

Objectives

This research is conducted to explore the reciprocal dynamic relationship between nurses’ empathetical orientation and their level of attachment style in the pediatric emergency departments.

Methods

A descriptive cross-sectional survey was conducted across 132 pediatric emergency nurses from three pediatric hospitals in 2024. The study utilized a tool comprised socio-demographic characteristics of pediatric emergency nurses, the Jefferson Scale of Empathy, and Adult Attachment Scale. The Statistical Package for Social Sciences, version 26 was used to examine the associations among the measured variables in the study.

Results

The study results show that the mean of empathetical orientation of nurses in the pediatric emergency departments was at a moderate level with a total mean score of M(SD) = 47.08 (8.68) (perspective-taking); M(SD) = 30.33 (5.68) (compassionate care); and M(SD) = 14.50 (3.44) (standing in the patient’s shoes). The total mean attachment style was at a moderate level, with a total mean score of their secure M(SD) = 18.46 (3.33), anxious M(SD) = 8.04 (2.40), and avoidant M(SD)= 17.34 (3.93). There is a significant association between the level of empathetical orientation and the level of attachment style (P-value ≤ 0.001) for pediatric nurses in the emergency departments.

Conclusion

An empathetical orientation is independently significantly predicted of attachment style of pediatric emergency nurses. The findings could be the basis for emergency nurses to expand their roles in enhancing children health outcomes to improve their own empathy recognition abilities for adapting attachment style.

Wettability alteration of oil-wet carbonate by silica nanofluid
...Show More Authors

Changing oil-wet surfaces toward higher water wettability is of key importance in subsurface engineering applications. This includes petroleum recovery from fractured limestone reservoirs, which are typically mixed or oil-wet, resulting in poor productivity as conventional waterflooding techniques are inefficient. A wettability change toward more water-wet would significantly improve oil displacement efficiency, and thus productivity. Another area where such a wettability shift would be highly beneficial is carbon geo-sequestration, where compressed CO2 is pumped underground for storage. It has recently been identified that more water-wet formations can store more CO2. We thus examined how silica based nanofluids can induce such a wettabil

Physical Properties of Cu Doped ZnO Nanocrystiline Thin Films
...Show More Authors

Thin films of ZnO nano crystalline doped with different concentrations (0, 6, 9, 12, and 18 )wt. % of copper were deposited on a glass substrate via pulsed laser deposition method (PLD). The properties of ZnO: Cu thin-nanofilms have been studied by absorbing UV-VIS, X-ray diffraction (XRD) and atomic force microscopes (AFM). UV-VIS spectroscopy was used to determine the type and value of the optical energy gap, while X-ray diffraction was used to examine the structure and determine the size of the crystals. Atomic force microscopes were used to study the surface formation of precipitated materials. The UV-VIS spectroscopy was used to determine the type and value of the optical energy gap.

Water Quality Status of Tigris River Using Index Analysis
...Show More Authors
Abstract
This study investigates the effects of Al-Doura oil refinery effluent, in Baghdad city, on the water quality of the Tigris River using the Canadian Water Quality Index (CCME WQI) and Rivers Maintaining System (1967). Water samples were collected monthly from Tigris River at three stations, which are Al-Muthanna Bridge (upstream), Al-Doura Refinery (point source), and Al–Zafaraniya city (downstream) from October 2020 to April 2021. Fourteen water quality parameters were studied, namely pH (6.50-8.10), Water Temperature (WT) (5.00-27.00 °C), Electrical Conductivity (EC) (877.00-1192.00 μs/cm), Dissolved Oxygen (DO) (5.03-7.57 mg/L), Biological Oxygen demand (BOD) (0.53-2.23 mg/L), Total Dissolved S
... Hepatoprotective effect of Nobiletin against 5-fluorouracil induce hepatotoxicity
...Show More Authors

5-florouracil is a widely used anticancer/anti-metabolite drug used to treat solid tumor like colon cancer, head and neck, rectum, stomach, pancreas and breast cancer; but, it can cause hepatotoxicity by induction of apoptosis through activation of caspases enzymes and oxidative stress. Nobiletin is a citrus fruit-derived flavonoid that possess significant biological activity, including anticancer, and anti-inflammatory. This study was design to investigate the effects of nobiletin against 5-florouracil-indcued hepatotoxicity in male rats through the measurement of selected -inflammatory, -apoptosis, and -oxidative stress markers. By use male Albino rats weighing 150-250gm around 28 animals; giving them tap water ad libitum and fed commerci

Sentiment Analysis of Twitter Users Using Deep Learning Models
...Show More Authors

This research suggests a robust and systematic way for Arabic Sentiment Analysis using a vast dataset of 66,666 text reviews. One of the main advantages of this study is that the dataset was perfectly balanced (33,333 positive samples and 33,333 negative samples). In machine learning, this 50/50 split is important because it eliminates class bias and enables the predictive model to treat both sentiment classes equally. As shown in the values of the metrics — overall accuracy, weighted precision, weighted recall, and F1 score — there is great similarity among them, indicating a stable and reliable assessment of the model's real potential throughout the Arabic dataset. Based on data profile, the average word count per review is 42.3

Evaluation of antibacterial effect of irrigant solutions (titanium tetra fluoride, green tea, sodium hypochlorite, normal saline) using real-time quantitative – polymerase chain reaction

Background: Removal of bacteria from the pulp system by instrumentation of an infected root canal, will be significantly reduced the number of bacteria, but it is well documented that instrumentation alone can-not clean and kill all bacteria found on the root canal walls. Antibacterial irrigants are needed to kill the remaining microorganisms. The aims of this study was to assess antibacterial effect of titanium tetrafluoride (TiF4) solution and brewing green tea against root canal bacteria and to compare with sodium hypochlorite and normal saline through microbiological and molecular studies. Materials and methods: Microbiological study was carried out to determine the concentration of titanium tetrafluoride and brewing green tea at which
