The Effectiveness of Conventional and Advanced Aligning Archwires: The Insights of Two Randomized Clinical Trials
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Objectives This study aimed to compare the clinical effectiveness of four aligning archwires: Superelastic Nickel-Titanium (Superelastic-NiTi), SmartArch, Copper-Nickel-Titanium (Cu-NiTi), and Speed Tubular coaxial-Nickel-Titanium (Tubular coaxial-NiTi), regarding the alignment efficiency, associated perception of pain, and possibility of inducing root resorption.

Materials and Methods This study includes two randomized clinical trials run in parallel. Patients with 5 to 9 mm of mandibular anterior teeth crowding according to Little's irregularity index (LII) who needed fixed orthodontic appliances without extraction were randomly assigned to four groups of aligning archwires (each trial with two groups): 0.014-inch, 0.018-inch Superelastic-NiTi; 0.016-inch SmartArch; 0.014-inch, 0.018-inch Cu-NiTi; and 0.016-inch, 0.018-inch Tubular coaxial-NiTi. LII was measured pretreatment and every 4 weeks for the next 16 weeks. Pain perception was assessed using a visual analogue scale in the first 7 days after the placement of each archwire. Periapical radiographs for mandibular central incisors were taken pretreatment and after 16 weeks to assess root resorption. The alignment efficiency was tested using a repeated measures analysis of variance test with mixed factorial design (between and within-subject effect), while pain perception and root resorption were tested using the Kruskal–Wallis test and Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

Results A total of 73 patients were recruited from different centers. The analysis included 64 patients who completed the trials. Neither clinical nor statistical significance was found between the groups regarding the alignment. Similarly, there was no significant difference between the four groups regarding pain perception and root resorption. However, root resorption was slightly more in the Superelastic-NiTi group than in the other groups.

Limitations The short time that root resorption was reported.

Conclusions The four types of archwires performed comparably regarding the alignment efficiency, associated perception of pain, and the possibility of inducing root resorption.

Registration The trials included in this study were registered with ClinicalTrials.gov on May 26, 2022 (Registration number: NCT05391542) and August 18, 2022 (Registration number: NCT05510206).

ADJUSTING OFF – CENTERING PROCESS FOR A BLOW MOLDED PLASTIC PRODUCT BY USE OF WINQSB SOFTWARE
...Show More Authors

In most manufacturing processes, and in spite of statistical control, several process capability indices refer to non conformance of the true mean (µc ) from the target mean ( µT ), and the variation is also high. In this paper, data have been analyzed and studied for a blow molded plastic product (Zahi Bottle) (ZB). WinQSB software was used to facilitate the statistical process control, and process capability analysis and some of capability indices. The relationship between different process capability indices and the true mean of the process were represented, and then with the standard deviation (σ ), of achievement of process capability value that can reduce the standard deviation value and improve production out of theoretical con

A Mathematical Analysis of Wind-Driven Bottom-Up Interactions in a Plant–Ungulate–Wolf Ecosystem
...Show More Authors

Understanding how abiotic influences affect organisms and their interactions within ecological communities has long been of interest to ecologists. The significance of this comprehension has increased given rapid human-induced climate change. Wind speed variation is one of the less researched effects of climate change, as wind speeds worldwide are generally falling. Although wind is a fairly universal component of the environment, relatively little work has been conducted to integrate our knowledge of how wind affects interactions between different species. In this study, the influence of wind on bottom-up trophic interactions in the plant–ungulate–wolf food chain has been investigated through mathematical modeling. Positivity and bound

Structural Behavior of High Strength Laced Reinforced Concrete One Way Slab Exposed to Fire Flame
...Show More Authors

In this study, an experimental investigation had conducted for six high strength laced reinforced concrete one-way slabs to discover the behavior of laced structural members after being exposed to fire flame (high temperature). Self-compacted concrete (SCC) had used to achieve easy casting and high strength concrete. All the adopted specimens were identical in their compressive strength of ( , geometric layout 2000 750 150 mm and reinforcement specifics except those of lacing steel content, three ratios of laced steel reinforcement of (0.0021, 0.0040 and 0.0060) were adopted. Three specimens were fired with a steady state temperature of for two hours duration and then after the specimens were cooled suddenly by spraying water. The

Numerical Simulation of Gas Lift Optimization Using Artificial Intelligence for a Middle Eastern Oil Field
...Show More Authors
Abstract
Artificial lift techniques are a highly effective solution to aid the deterioration of the production especially for mature oil fields, gas lift is one of the oldest and most applied artificial lift methods especially for large oil fields, the gas that is required for injection is quite scarce and expensive resource, optimally allocating the injection rate in each well is a high importance task and not easily applicable. Conventional methods faced some major problems in solving this problem in a network with large number of wells, multi-constrains, multi-objectives, and limited amount of gas. This paper focuses on utilizing the Genetic Algorithm (GA) as a gas lift optimization algorit
... Show More

Comparison of some Bayesian estimation methods for type-I generalized extreme value distribution with simulation
...Show More Authors

The Weibull distribution is considered one of the Type-I Generalized Extreme Value (GEV) distribution, and it plays a crucial role in modeling extreme events in various fields, such as hydrology, finance, and environmental sciences. Bayesian methods play a strong, decisive role in estimating the parameters of the GEV distribution due to their ability to incorporate prior knowledge and handle small sample sizes effectively. In this research, we compare several shrinkage Bayesian estimation methods based on the squared error and the linear exponential loss functions. They were adopted and compared by the Monte Carlo simulation method. The performance of these methods is assessed based on their accuracy and computational efficiency in estimati

Experimental Investigation of Composite Circular Encased GFRP I-Section Concrete Columns under Different Load Conditions
...Show More Authors

Pultruded materials made of Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (FRP) come in a broad range of shapes, such as bars, I-sections, C-sections, etc. FRP materials are starting to compete with steel as structural materials owing to their great resistance, low self-weight, and cheap maintenance costs, especially in corrosive conditions. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of a novel concrete Composite Column (CC) using Encased I-Section (EIS) as a reinforcement in contrast to traditional steel bars by using Glass Fiber-Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) as I-section (CC-EIS) to evaluate the effectiveness of the hybrid columns which have been built by combining GFRP profiles with concrete columns. To achieve the aims of this study, nine circular co
