Synthesis, Characterization, and Biological Activity of Mixed ligand Complexes from 8-Hydroxyquinoline and new Ligand for β-Enaminone

The synthesized ligand [4-chloro-5-(N-(5,5-dimethyl-3-oxocyclohex-1-en-1-yl)sulfamoyl)-2-((furan-2-ylmethyl)amino)benzoic acid] (H2L1) was identified utilizing Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), 1 H, 13 C – NMR, (C.H.N), Mass spectra, UVVis methods based on spectroscopy. To detect mixed ligand complexes, analytical and spectroscopic approaches such as micro-analysis, conductance, UV-Visible, magnetic susceptibility, and FT-IR spectra were utilized. Its mixed ligand complexes [M(L1)(Q)Cl2] [ where M= Co(II), Ni(II) , and Cd(II)] and complexes [Pd(L1)(Q)] and [Pt(L1)(Q)Cl2]; [H2L1] =β-enaminone ligand =L1 and Q= 8-Hydroxyquinoline = L2]. The results showed that the complexes were synthesised utilizing the molar ratio M: L1:L2 (1 :1 :1). The formation of six-coordinate octahedral geometry was proposed for metal complexes Co (II), Ni (II), Cd (II), and Pt (IIII), while the Pd (II) complex was square planar. By using the agar well diffusion method, the ligands and complexes were evaluated for antibacterial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli. The studies demonstrate that the ligand and its complexes have variable activity against the bacterial types, Some of the complexes had an effect on bacteria, while others had less inhibitory action than the ligand. Also, the produced ligand and its metal complexes have been tested for fungi (Candida albicans );the complexes exhibited suppressing activity against fungi compared to the ligand prepared from them

Fortification of Meat Burger with Protein Isolate Extracted from Local Pumpkin Seeds

ABSTRACT: Protein isolate was achieved from local peeled non soaked pumpkins seeds by using petroleum ether with protein percentage of 53.15%. Protein isolate was used in manufacturing meat burger with two substitution10 and 20%. The shrinkage percentage for burger diameter was decreased from 25.5 to 16.6%, the sample with 10% substitution was distinguished in water holding capacity (WHC) which was 54.52%. Sensitive evaluation for these samples showed that the burger with 10% substitution was similar to the control.

Investigating the Electrochemical Properties of Alkaloids Compound Derived from Catharanthus Roseus Extract

The Catharanthus roseus plant was extracted and converted to nanoparticles in this work. The Soxhlet method was used to extract alkaloid compounds from the Catharanthus roseus plant and converted them to the nanoscale. Chitosan polymer was used as a linking material and converted to Chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs). The extracted alkaloids were linked with Chitosan nanoparticles by maleic anhydride to get the final product (CSNPs-Linker-alkaloids). The pure Chitosan, Chitosan nanoparticles, and CSNPs-Linker-alkaloids were characterized by X-ray diffractometer, and Fourier Transform Infrared spectroscopy. Assessment of Traditional Asphalt Mixture Performance Using Natural Asphalt from Sulfur Springs

This research utilized natural asphalt (NA) deposits from sulfur springs in western Iraq. Laboratory tests were conducted to evaluate the performance of an asphalt mixture incorporating NA and verify its suitability for local pavement applications. To achieve this, a combination of two types of NA, namely soft SNA and hard HNA, was blended to create a binder known as Type HSNA. The resulting HSNA exhibited a penetration grade that adhered to Iraqi specifications. Various percentages of NA (20%, 40%, 60%, and 80%) were added to petroleum asphalt.
