The inhibition of 3-Benzyl -2-mercaptoquinoizoline -4 (3H)-one (BMQ) on the corrosion of carbon steel in 0.5 M HCl studied by potentionstat polarization methods at 303–333 K. Results obtained show that BMQ act as inhibitor for carbon steel in HCl solution. The inhibition efficiency increase with increase in BMQ concentration. Activation parameters and Gibbs free energy for the adsorption process using Statistical Physics calculated and discussed. Quantum chemical calculations using DFT at the B3LYP/6-31G level of theory were used to calculate some electronic properties of the molecule to verify any correlation between the inhibitive effect and molecular structure of BMQ. The quantum calculations were proceeded to get data around correlation amid the BMQ and electronic structures of examined inhibitor and their trial corrosion inhibition efficiencies. The structural data, as EHOMO (highest occupied molecular orbital energy), ELUMO (lowest unoccupied molecular orbital energy) and dipole moment (μ), ∆E is energy gap, the charge distribution, η is absolute hardness and softness Ϭ, ∆N is number of electrons moved from BMQ to the surface of metal, as well as some electronic parameters, calculated and discussed to understanding the process of corrosion inhibition.
A new Schiffbase derivative ligands [H4L1] and [H2L2] have been produced by condensed ophathaldehyde with ethylene diamine and [N1, N1'E, N1, N1'E)-N1, N1'-(1, 2-phenylenebis (methan-1-yl- 1ylidene)) diethane-1, 2-diamine] with 2-benzoyl benzoic acid. Ten new coordination complexes were prepared and structurally diagnosed: [M(L1)Cl2] and [M2(L2)Cl2] where M(II) = Mn (II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Hg(II). The synthesis and properties of two new series of compounds having 1,3-Oxazepineand 1,3-thiazole rings connected through azo linkage are reported. These compounds weresynthesized by the reaction of phthalic anhydride with Schiff bases. The molecular structuresof these compounds were verified by elemental analysis, FTIR and 1HNMR spectroscopy.The mesomorphic behaviors of these compounds were studied by optical polarizedmicroscopy (OPM) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC). This paper proposes a compact, plasmonic-based 4 × 4 nonblocking switch for optical networks. This device uses six 2 × 2 plasmonic Mach-Zehnder switch (MZS), whose arm waveguide is supported by a JRD1 polymer layer as a high electro-optic coefficient material. The 4 × 4 switch is designed in COMSOL environment for 1550 nm wavelength operation. The performance of the proposed switch outperforms those of conventional (nonplasmonic) counterparts. The designed switch yields a compact structure ( 500 × 70 µ m 2 ) having V π L = 12 V · µ m , 1.5 THz optical bandwidth, 7.7 dB insertion loss, and −26.5 dB crosstalk. The capability of the switch to route 8 × 40 Gbps WDM signal is demonstrated successfully.
