Mechanistic–Experimental Evaluation of Sugarcane Molasses as a Sustainable Stabilizer for Granular Subbase Materials
...Show More Authors

The use of sugarcane molasses (SCM) as a sustainable stabilizing agent for geomaterials, particularly granular subbase soils, has recently attracted growing attention as an alternative to traditional stabilization methods employing cement, lime, or bitumen, which are often associated with high costs and environmental concerns. This study presents a mechanistic–experimental evaluation of SCM for stabilizing granular subbase materials at dosages of 2.5%, 5%, 7.5%, and 10% by weight of dry granular material. A comprehensive testing program was conducted, including compaction characteristics, California Bearing Ratio (CBR), resilient modulus (Mr), permanent deformation under repeated loading, optical microscopy, and FTIR spectroscopy. In addition, multilayer elastic analysis using KENLAYER was performed to assess pavement structural performance in terms of critical strains and service life. The results showed that SCM significantly improved subbase performance within an optimum dosage range. The mixture containing 5% sugarcane molasses (5SCM) exhibited the highest overall performance, increasing CBR from approximately 26% to 34% and reducing accumulated permanent strain by approximately 45% compared with the control mixture. Optical microscopy and FTIR analyses supported the proposed stabilization mechanism, indicating improved particle contact at moderate SCM contents, whereas excessive SCM contents adversely affected performance due to lubrication and excessive particle-coating effects. Mechanistic analysis demonstrated that 5SCM improved pavement durability, increasing allowable load repetitions from 9.54 × 105 to 1.14 × 106 and extending pavement service life by approximately 20%. A durability–cost assessment further identified 5SCM as the most efficient dosage from both engineering and economic perspectives. Water immersion assessment indicated that SCM stabilization is suitable for pavement structures with effective drainage, whereas its application in continuously saturated or flood-prone environments is not recommended. Overall, SCM demonstrates strong potential as an environmentally sustainable stabilizer for granular subbase materials, with an optimum dosage of approximately 5% for enhancing both material performance and pavement durability.

A Comparison between Ericson's Formulae Results and Experimental Data Using New Formulae of Single Particle Level Density
...Show More Authors

The partial level density PLD of pre-equilibrium reactions that are described by Ericson’s formula has been studied using different formulae of single particle level density . The parameter  was used from the equidistant spacing model (ESM) model and the non- equidistant spacing model (non-ESM) and another formula of  are derived from the relation between  and level density parameter . The formulae used to derive  are the Roher formula, Egidy formula, Yukawa formula, and Thomas –Fermi formula. The partial level density results that depend on  from the Thomas-Fermi formula show a good agreement with the experimental data.

EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION OF LAMINAR NATURAL CONVECTION HEAT TRANSFER IN A RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURE WITH AND WITHOUT INSIDE PARTITIONS
...Show More Authors

Experimental study has been conducted for laminar natural convection heat transfer of air flow through a rectangular enclosure fitted with vertical partition. The partition was oriented parallel to the two vertical isothermal walls with different temperatures, while all the other surfaces of the enclosure were insulated. In this study a test rig has been designed and constructed to allow studying the effect of Rayleigh number, aperture height ratio, partition thickness, the position of aperture according to the side walls and according to the height, the position of the partition according to the hot wall, and partition inclination. The experiments were carried out with air as the working fluid for Rayleigh number range (5*107 – 1.3*10

Experimental study on thermo‐hydraulic performance of metal foam twisted tape in a double pipe heat exchanger
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A recent study compared experimentally the hydraulic and thermal activity of twisted tape inserts for two types, metal foam twisted tape (MFTT) and traditional twisted tape (TTT), in a double pipe heat exchanger. The investigation goal of the innovatively designed MFTT is to enhance the heat transfer process, which provides a higher thermal enhancement factor over those of TTT under the same conditions. Heat transfer activity in terms of Nusselt number (Nu) and Nusselt number ratio (Nu/Nuo) as the heat exchanger equipped with the proposed MFTT and TTT inserts with various tape‐twist ratios (<i></i></p> ... Sustainable Removal of Dyes from Wastewater Using Eggshell-Derived Calcium Carbonate Nanoparticles: Adsorption Isotherms, Kinetics, and Thermodynamic Analysis Supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
...Show More Authors

This study explores eggshell waste as a low-cost, eco-friendly adsorbent for removing Aniline Blue dye from water. Batch and continuous experiments under various conditions showed effective performance. FTIR and SEM analyses confirmed porosity and functional groups. The adsorption followed the Sips isotherm and pseudo-first-order kinetics. The porous calcium carbonate structure enhanced dye removal. Thermodynamic results indicated an endothermic and spontaneous process. Lower flow rates improved performance in fixed-bed columns. The study supporting environmentally friendly solutions aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Evaluation of the Performance of a Locally Manufactured Palm Service Platform
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A field experiment was carried out in one of the orchards of Al-Qassim district in Babel Governorate to find out the ability of a locally manufactured platform to serve palm trees by working in flat and uneven orchard land, palm tree heights of 4, 8, and 12 meters, and it performs pollination, pruning and harvesting services. The time of ascent and descent, the palm service, and the palm/hour productivity were measured. A randomized complete block design with three replications used a split split-plot arrangement. The nature of the land (flat or uneven) represented the main plots, the height of the palm trees (4, 8, 12) meters, the sub-plots, and the palm service operations (pollinati</p> ... Show More

Background: Denture lining materials are widely used in prosthodontic treatment and management of traumatized oral mucosa. A contaminated prosthesis can provide a source of cross-contamination between patients and dental personnel as well as a cause for denture stomatitis. Therefore, denture disinfection has been recommended as an essential procedure for maintenance of a healthy oral mucosa. This study investigated the effect of SOLO disinfectant solution on some properties of different denture lining materials. Materials and methods: Three different solutions were used in this study; SOLO disinfectant solution, sodium hypochlorite solution, and water on three types of acrylic denture lining materials; hot cure, cold cure, and soft acrylic
