Background: Alopecia areata(AA) is a common autoimmune disease that causes hair loss without scarring. It occurs as a result of T-helper 1 (Th1) and Th17 cells attacking the anagen hair follicles. Genetic factors play a role in the occurrence of infection, which stimulates the production of pro and anti-inflammatory interleukins. Polymorphisms of IL-37 play a role in autoimmune diseases. However, IL37 single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNP) have not been identified in patients with AA. Therefore, this study aimed to reveal the IL37 gene SNP and its relationship to AA. Methods: Genotyping of IL-37 gene single nucleotide polymorphisms SNPs were detected using sequence-specific primer-polymerase chain reaction (SSP-PCR) method was done following the protocol of DNA Extraction kit and PCR PreMix SNP Genotyping Assays in 51 (32 males & 19 females at age mean 27.90±1.66 years) patients with AA and 50 (21 males & 29 females at age mean30.64±2.08years ) healthy individuals. Results: The results of the present study showed a significant increase in the mean level of IL-37 in the serum of patients with AA compared to healthy subjects (184.18±69.45 vs.153.28±48.17) pg/ml. This increase did not constitute a significant difference at a probability level less than. In addition, genotypes of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of IL-37 gene were rs3811045 (5756 T>C) and rs3811046 (5831 G>T) that result in substitution and inversion mutations, and thus cause a change in the type of amino acid. The CC and allele C and TC of rs3811045 were risk factors for AA due to a significantly higher odd ration (OR) value and a significantly increased frequency percentage in patients group compared to a healthy control group (37.50 vs 25.58 OR: 1.75 p = 0.264, 95% CI = 0.72–4.25, 66.0 vs 86.0 OR: 1.78 p = 0.068, 95% CI = 0.98–3.23; 56.25 vs 55.81 OR: 1.02 p = 1.0 95% CI = 0.45–2.31 respectively). Also the results of rs3811046 recorded that the TT and allele T frequency percentages were significant increase in patients group (39.58 vs 25.58 OR: 1.91 P = 0.184, 95% CI = 0.79-4.63, 66.0 vs. 52.0 OR: 1.74, P =0.072,95%CI= 0.96–3.15) respectively, which was a risk factor for infection. This study is the first of its kind to show the relationship of IL-37 level and genetic single nucleotide polymorphisms with AA. Conclusions The present study's results can conclude that the TC, CC and the C allele of IL-37 SNP rs3811045 and TT genotypes and the T allele of IL-37 SNP rs3811046 have a role in the risk of developing AA. It is recommended to conduct several genetic studies of other interleukin genes and to ascertain their relationship to AA. © 2023, Journal of Biomechanical Science and Engineering.
Visceral leishmaniasis(VL) or kala-azar is one of the world most neglected tropical diseases in mortality and fourth in morbidity, rK39 dipstick was used to diagnose the suspected infected patients as easiest and rapid technique for VL diagnostic, the disease out-coming required to the differentiation of cell mediated immunity either T-helper 1(Th-1) or (Th-2). One of main pointers that may be considered as one of immune evasion strategy in the host-parasite interplay is HLA-G level alteration. HLA-G Known as a special proteins (non-classical HLA class I) molecules which can suppress the immune system by T-cell functions impaired in the aid with target receptors as LILRB4. The development of the cell mediated immunity initiated with Interle

For the detection of HER2/neu protein overexpression and gene amplification, immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in-situ hybridisation (ISH) is the recommended techniques, respectively, with high concordance between the two techniques. The current United Kingdom recommendations for HER2/neu testing are either for a two-tier system using IHC with reflex ISH testing in equivocal positive cases, or a one-tier ISH strategy. AIM: To compare the results of HER2/neu gene s

The study aimed to build a causal model for the most important physical measurements and kinetic capabilities of the direct straight attack in the research sample. The aim of present study: To evaluate prosthetic status in relation to weight status and occupation by age and gender among Parkinson's disease Patients in Baghdad-Iraq. Methods: The sample consisted of 104 patients with Parkinson disease attended to the Neurosciences Hospital in Baghdad city / Iraq, aged 60-79 years Prosthetic Status was recorded according to WHO(1997). Weight status was recorded according to Trowbridge 1988 and occupation was recorded according to Erikson and Goldthorpe (1992) and Ganzeboom et al (

The sample consisted of 2700 (1349 males and 1351 females) intermediate school students aged 13 years representing 3% of the total target population. A questionnaire was used to determine the perception of occlusion and orthodontic treatment demand of the students and the assessment procedures for occlusal features by direct intraoral measurement using veriner and an instrument to measure the rotated and displaced teeth. The aim of this paper is to shed the light on saliva and serum total peroxidases activity as well as the activity of each of salivary peroxidase (SPO) and myeloperoxidase (MPO) in patients with oral tumors. The studied participants were divided into two groups: the first group included 18 oral squamous cell carcinoma patients and 20 age and gender-matched healthy controls while the second group consisted of 20 oral ossifying fibroma patients and 23 age and gender-matched healthy controls. Total peroxidases activity was determined, and its specific activity was calculated in serum and whole mixed saliva as well as in the supernatant and pellet fractions

Scientists from different fields try to seize any available chance to warn people of the risk of consuming and exposing to carcinogens that have, unfortunately, become essential parts of modern life. The present paper attempts to investigate the proximization strategy through which scientists construct carcinogen risk to enhance people’s preventive actions against these carcinogens. The paper targets the construction which depends on producing the conflict between the values of the people themselves and the contrasting values assigned to carcinogens. Thus, it has become necessary to consider the role of language and its influence on the common beliefs and opinions about rape in the Iraqi society. Thus, taking into consideration the critical role of language and its impact on the perception of human reality and the social development based on people's beliefs and principles of life has become highly indispensable. Therefore. The aim of this article is to address this problem critically from legislation and social norms in NGOs' reports (2015; 2019) with reference to some provisions from the Iraqi Panel Code (1969; 2010). However, this type of modeling is rarely accurate because a single zone system does not account for the fact that each zone's pressure decreases independently. Pressure drop for each zone has an effect on the total output and would result in inter-flow and the premature depletion of one of the zones. Understanding reservoir performance requires a precise estimation of each layer's permeability and skin factor. The Multilayer Transient Analysis is a well-testing technique designed to determine formation properties in more than one layer, and its effectiveness over the past two decades has been
