Volcaniclastic rocks of Al Muqdadiya Formation (Pliocene) in Injana area, southern Hemrin anticline, NE of Iraq, were studied ( petrographically, physically, mineralogically and geochemically , as well as the engineering properties) to assess the suitability of volcaniclastic rocks to use them in industry as refractories. The results show that the physical and engineering properties change with the temperature change. The bulk density and the specific gravity increase by increasing temperature while the apparent porosity, water sorption and the linear shrinkage decrease. Modified unsaturated polyester (MUPE) was blended with Cellulose (Cls) and with ethyl cellulose (ECls) at ambient conditions in the presence of ethyl methyl ketone peroxide (EMKP) as hardener. The blends containing different weight percentages (5-25 %) of Cls or ECls. Mechanical properties (impact strength, hardness, and bending) and dielectric constant were determined. The results observed that Cls increases the impact strength, hardness, and dielectric constant and decreases the bending of the MUPS, while ECls causes an increase in the three mechanical behaviours and a decrease in the dielectric constant of the MU-PS.

A survey and revised checklist of the species belonging to the family of Compositae for the specimens which are collected and deposited previously at the herbarium of the Iraq Natural History Research Center and Museum, in addition to the current specimens collected for the period 2016-2021. A total of 85 species belonging to 49 genera and 16 tribes are revised with their synonyms, locality, and distributions, flowering and fruiting period.

 Prepared zeolite type A was used for theremoval of cesium ions from aqueous solution. The experimental data were analyzed by Langmuir, Freundlich isotherms. Various parameters, such as contact time, zeolite weight, pH, and initial concentration, were studied. The results indicated that the highest removal efficiency was95.53% at (2h time, 0.04 g weight, and pH=6.8). The results also showed that the Freundlic model fits well with the experimental results and is better than the Langmuir model.
