Simultaneous Complete Intracorneal Ring Implantation with Intrapocket Collagen Cross- Linking for Treatment of Keratoconus
...Show More Authors

BACKGROUND: Keratoconus is a progressive non inflammatory bilateral (usually asymmetric) ectatic corneal disease characterized by paraxial stromal thinning ,weakening that lead to corneal surface distortion ,vision loss primarily from irregular astigmatism and myopia and secondly from corneal scar. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate visual and refractive outcomes after intracorneal continuous ring (ICCR) implantation combined with intrapocket corneal collagen cross linking in patient with keratoconus. Setting: Eye Specialty Private Hospital, Baghdad, Iraq. METHODS: This study assessed the results of implantation of Myoring ICCR combined with CXL in 40 eyes with KC. Outcome measures include UDVA,CDVA(spectacle correction),refraction, complications and side effects. Postoperative follow- up was up to 1 year. RESULTS: The study evaluated 40 eyes of 34 patients with a mean age of 25.75 years. Preoperatively, the pachymetry at thinnest location range from (367_555ϻm) and the mean keratometry (K) readings 50.51± 3.94D. Post operatively ,there was statistically significant improvement in the UDVA,CDVA,K reading ,manifest spherical and cylindrical refractive errors ,and spherical equivalent (p<.05).The mean UDVA improved by 13 lines ,CDVA improved by 3.5 lines and the mean K reading decreased by 7.14 D .No serious intraoperative complications occurred .Side effects includes glare and night vision problems. CONCLUSION: Treatment of KC with simultaneous ICCR implantation and intrapocket collagen cross linking significantly improved visual and refractive outcomes .the UDVA and CDVA continuously improved during the 1st year postoperatively. Prospective comparative study between antegrade interlocking undreamed nail versus compression plate fixation of acute closed humeral mid third shaft humerus in adults
...Show More Authors

Objective: To assess the functional outcome, time to union, shoulder pain, blood loss, operative time, iatrogenic radial nerve injury, hospitalization, and infection. Methodology: It is a prospective randomized study on 30 patients with mid-shaft humerus fracture according to AO classification (1.2A1, 2, 3 and 1,2B) with functioning radial nerve. They were randomly dividing into two groups. Group A were treated by a closed antegrade interlocking nail, and group B treated by open reduction and locked compression plate fixation. The follow-up was up to 6 months, including time to union, shoulder pain, intraoperative blood loss, operative time and iatrogenic radial nerve injury. Functional outcome was assessed by quick DASH score. Resu

Synthesis, characterization, molecular docking, ADMET prediction, and anti-inflammatory activity of some Schiff bases derived from salicylaldehyde as a potential cyclooxygenase inhibitor
...Show More Authors

A series of Schiff base-bearing salicylaldehyde moiety compounds (1-4) had been designed, synthesized, subjected to insilico ADMET prediction, molecular docking, characterization by FT-IR, and CHNS analysis techniques, and finally to their Anti-inflammatory profile using cyclooxygenase fluorescence inhibitor screening assay methods along with standard drugs, celecoxib, and diclofenac. The ADMET studies were used to predict which compounds would be suitable for oral administration, as well as absorption sites, bioavailability, TPSA, and drug likeness. According to the results of ADME data, all of the produced chemicals can be absorbed through the GIT and have passed Lipinski’s rule of five. Through molecular docking with PyRx 0.8, these

Immunological aspects of Alpha 1 Antitrypsin in COVID-19 infection among the Populace and Pregnant Women: Alpha 1 Antitrypsin and COVID-19
...Show More Authors

Since the COVID-19 pandemic alarm was made by the severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS)-coronavirus (CoV) 2, several institutions and agencies have pursued to clarify the viral virulence and infectivity. The fast propagation of this virus leads to an unprecedented rise in the number of cases worldwide. COVID-19 virus is exceptionally contagious that spreads through droplets, respiratory secretions, and direct contact. The enveloped, single-stranded RNA virus has a specific envelop region called (S) region encoding (S protein) that specifically binds to the host cell receptor. Viral infection requires receptors' participation on the host cell membrane's surface, a  key- step for the viral invasion of susceptible cells.

Preparation, characterization and study of biological activity and laser effect on the new Cu(II) complexes containing mixed benziloxime and furfuraldehydeazine ligands
...Show More Authors

Abstract: New copper(II) complexes with mixed ligand benziloxime (BOxH) and furfural-dehydeazine (FA) using classical (with and without solvent) and microwave heating methods have been prepared. The resulting complexes have been characterized using physico-chemical techniques. The study suggested that the ligands formed neutral complexes had general formulas [Cu(FA)(BOXH)(Ac)2] and [Cu(FA)(BOX)(OH)] in neutral (or acidic) and basic medium, respectively. Accordingly, hexa-coordinated mono-nuclear complexes have been investigated by this study and having distorted octahedral geometry. The effect of laser have been studied on solid ligands and solid complexes, no effect have been observed on most compounds through the results of melting poin

...Show More Authors

This research discusses the verbal follow phenomenon in Al-Amali Abi Al-Qali’s book (seq.356 Hijri). It aims to limit the examples of this phenomenon in the book, and  examine it phonologically. Accordingly, the researcher adopted the analaytical descriptive approach, taking into account Al-Rawi’s letter when ordering the verbal follow-based examples, and the order they took in the book in question. The purposes behind this phonological study of verbal follow in Al-Amali’s book are to: reach the sounds which Arabs prefer in the process of following, confirm different beautiful and desirable senses, have easy and speedy pronunciation, maintain harmony between adjacent sounds, count the sounds that occur at the beginning of the
