Update Quasi-Newton Algorithm for Training ANN
...Show More Authors

The proposed design of neural network in this article is based on new accurate approach for training by unconstrained optimization, especially update quasi-Newton methods are perhaps the most popular general-purpose algorithms. A limited memory BFGS algorithm is presented for solving large-scale symmetric nonlinear equations, where a line search technique without derivative information is used. On each iteration, the updated approximations of Hessian matrix satisfy the quasi-Newton form, which traditionally served as the basis for quasi-Newton methods. On the basis of the quadratic model used in this article, we add a new update of quasi-Newton form. One innovative features of this form's is its ability to estimate the energy function's or performance function with high order precision with second-order curvature while employ the given function value data and gradient. The global convergence of the proposed algorithm is established under some suitable conditions. Under some hypothesis the approach is established to be globally convergent. The updated approaches can be numerical and more efficient than the existing comparable traditional methods, as illustrated by numerical trials. Numerical results show that the given method is competitive to those of the normal BFGS methods. We show that solving a partial differential equation can be formulated as a multi-objective optimization problem, and use this formulation to propose several modifications to existing methods. Also the proposed algorithm is used to approximate the optimal scaling parameter, which can be used to eliminate the need to optimize this parameter. Our proposed update is tested on a variety of partial differential equations and compared to existing methods. These partial differential equations include the fourth order three dimensions nonlinear equation, which we solve in up to four dimensions, the convection-diffusion equation, all of which show that our proposed update lead to enhanced accuracy.

Strengthening and Load Testing for Short Span Steel Bridge for Abnormal Loads
...Show More Authors

The steel jetty selected for strengthening is in Baghdad city, over Tigris River, consists of 55 short spans, each of approximately 4 meters and one naviga-tional opening of 12 m. The bridge is 224 meters length and 8 meters in width. The strengthening system was designed to remove overstresses that occurred when the bridge was subjected to abnormal loads of 380 tons. A strengthening system which installed in spring 2008 was used where the main concept is to depend on added side supporting elements which impose reversal forces on the bridge to counteract most of the loads expected from the abnormal heavy loads. The bridge was load tested before and after the strengthening system was activated. The load test results indicate that the strengt

New Common Fixed Points for Total Asymptotically Nonexpansive Mapping in CAT(0) Space
...Show More Authors

Strong and ∆-convergence for a two-step iteration process utilizing asymptotically nonexpansive and total asymptotically nonexpansive noneslf mappings in the CAT(0) spaces have been studied. As well, several strong convergence theorems under semi-compact and condition (M) have been proved. Our results improve and extend numerous familiar results from the existing literature.

The Relationship between Formal Thinking & Learning Styles for Kindergarten Department Students
...Show More Authors

The current research aims to reveal the strength of education and the direction of the relationship between the formal thinking and learning methods of Kindergarten department students. To achieve this objective, the researcher developed a scale of formal thinking according to the theory of (Inhelder & Piaget 1958) consisting of (25) items in the form of declarative phrases derived from the analysis of formal thinking skills based on a professional situation that students are expected to interact with in a professional way. The research sample consisted of (100) female students selected randomly who were divided into four groups based on the academic stages, the results revealed that The level of formal thinking of the main sample is

Numerical Modeling of Renal Ionic Equilibrium for Implantable Kidney Applications
...Show More Authors

The human kidney is one of the most important organs in the human body; it performs many functions
and has a great impact on the work of the rest of the organs. Among the most important possible treatments is
dialysis, which works as an external artificial kidney, and several studies have worked to enhance the
mechanism of dialysate flow and improve the permeability of its membrane. This study introduces a new
numerical model based on previous research discussing the variations in the concentrations of sodium,
potassium, and urea in the extracellular area in the blood during hemodialysis. We simulated the differential
equations related to mass transfer diffusion and we developed the model in MATLAB Simu

Infertility can be detected when the couples have not completed pregnancy after a year or more of normal coitus. So, in order to treat infertility, there are many supported reproductive techniques are in practice. The success rate of these techniques depends upon the way by which preparation of the paternal semen sample. Over the past 30 years, the manual has been standard as providing global standards and has been used extensively by research and clinical laboratories throughout the world. The spermatozoa of all placental (eutherian) mammals, including humans, are in a protective, no labile formal at ejaculation and are incapable of fertilization even if they are placed in direct contact with an oocyte. Determination of Optimum Welding Parameters for FSW AA2024-T351
...Show More Authors

Abstract

Friction stir welding is a relatively new joining process, which involves the joining of metals without fusion or filler materials. In this study, the effect of welding parameters on the mechanical properties of aluminum alloys AA2024-T351 joints produced by FSW was investigated.

Different ranges of welding parameters, as input factors, such as welding speed (6 - 34 mm/min) and rotational speed (725 - 1235 rpm) were used to obtain their influences on the main responses, in terms of elongation, tensile strength, and maximum bending force. Experimental measurements of main responses were taken and analyzed using DESIGN EXPERT 8 experimental design software which was used to develop t

Illegal web platforms known as phishing websites adopted high-risk threats to mimic legitimate online platforms in order to steal important data of users, like login credentials and financial information. These forged platforms often involve internet tactics to attract unsuspecting victims through URL manipulation. Many recent machine learning techniques are proposed for detecting web attackers. However, under an increasing number of internet users, they struggle to reveal recent phishing strategies for stealing sensitive information covered by fake websites. This study presents a comprehensive methodology for detecting phishing websites through a proposed hybrid technique (RF_PSO) by involving the Random Forest (RF) classification algorith

This study aims to develop a recommendation engine methodology to enhance the model’s effectiveness and efficiency. The proposed model is commonly used to assign or propose a limited number of developers with the required skills and expertise to address and resolve a bug report. Managing collections within bug repositories is the responsibility of software engineers in addressing specific defects. Identifying the optimal allocation of personnel to activities is challenging when dealing with software defects, which necessitates a substantial workforce of developers. Analyzing new scientific methodologies to enhance comprehension of the results is the purpose of this analysis. Additionally, developer priorities were discussed, especially th

Gravel Sampling for Testing
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Sampling is the selection of a representative portion of a material, and it’s as important as testing. The minimum weight of gravel field or lab sample depends on the nominal maximum particle size. The weight of the sample will always be greater than that portion required for testing. The approximate precision desired for the testing will control the weight of the gravel sample. In this study, gravel sample has been simulated by using multilinear approximated function for Fuller’s curve on the logarithmic scale. Gravel particles are divided into classes according to their medium diameter and each class was simulated separately. A stochastic analysis, by using 100 realizations in s</p> ... Show More
