UV-Vis technique has been used to study the adsorption of para-nitroaniline (PNA) on Iraqi siliceous rocks powder. Adsorption isotherms were investigated, temperature effect on adsorption was calculated, Results showed that the adsorption was an exothermic process and the thermodynamic functions were calculated. The effect of the pH on adsorption was studied and the ionic strength effect on adsorption was studied, It was found that adsorption increases with the presence of sodium chloride ions. The kinetic study of adsorption before equilibrium showed that the adsorption was pseudo first order according to according (Lagergren equation).

Complexes of (Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Cd2+ and Hg2+) with the ligand Ethyl cyano (2-methyl carboxylate phenyl azo acetate) (ECA) have been prepared and characterized by FTIR, (UV-Visible), Atomic absorption spectroscopy, Molar conductivity measurements and magnetic moments measurements. The purpose of this research is to prepare new vanillic acid derivatives with 1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol heterocyclic ring and evaluate their antimicrobial activity in a preliminary assessment. A multistep synthesis was established for the preparation of new vanillic acid-triazole conjugates. The intermediate of 4-(4-amino-5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazol-3-yl)-2-methoxyphenol (4) reacts with different heterocyclic aldehydes (thiophene-2-carboxaldehyde, pyrrole-2-carboxaldehyde, thiophene-3-carboxaldehyde, and furfural ) in ethanol containing few drops of acetic acid yielded the corresponding 4-(4-(substituted amino)-5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-1triazol-3-yl)-2-methoxy phenol derivatives (5-8). These compounds were characterized spectroscopically by
