The research includes the preparation of several complexes of the internal transition elements lanthanide (Ln = La, Nd, Er, Gd, and Dy) containing the 4f shell, with Schiff bases resulting from condensation reactions between 4-antipyrinecarboxaldehyde and 2-aminobenzothiazoles. Schiff's base was identified using FTIR spectra, UV-vis spectroscopy, elemental microanalysis CHNSO, nuclear magnetic resonance, mass spectrometry, and TGA thermal analysis. The complexes were studied and identified with elemental microanalysis CHNSO, FTIR spectroscopy, UV-vis spectroscopy, TGA thermal analysis, conductivity measurement, and magnetic sensitivity. The result showed that these complexes were classified as homogeneous bidentate complexes with the general formula of [Ln2(L)2(NO3)6]·6H2O. The physical measurements indicated that the prepared complexes are non-electrolyte and paramagnetic. Some compounds prepared in vitro were evaluated for their antibacterial activity against four types of pathogenic strains Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Escherichia coli, and Klebsiella pneumonia, and using the agar disc spreading method for the evaluation. The results showed that some of these complexes have good antibacterial activity compared to the biological activity of the ligand. Also, the biological activity of Schiff's base and the prepared complexes were evaluated against three types of fungi (Candida albicans, Tropical fungi, and Scandal fungi), and they showed great activity against the prepared complexes.
The preparation and spectral characterization of complexes for Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), Zn(II) and Hg(II) ions with new organic heterocyclic azo imidazole dye as ligand 2-[(2`-cyano phenyl) azo ]-4,5-diphenyl imidazole ) (2-CyBAI) were prepared by reacting a dizonium salt solution of 2-cyano aniline with 4,5-diphenyl imidazole in alkaline ethanolic solution .These complexes were characterized spectroscopically by infrared and electronic spectra along with elemental analysis‚ molar conductance and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The data show that the ligand behaves a bidantate and coordinates to the metal ion via nitrogen atom of azo and with imidazole N3 atom. Octahedral environment is suggested for all metal complex
... Show MoreThe coupling reaction between tryptamine and 8-hydroxyquinoline led to the formation of a new azo ligand. The synthesized ligand was characterized using CHN, FT-IR, UV-Vis, and NMR spectroscopic techniques. Complexes of the ligand with VO2+, Cr3+, Mn2+, and Mo6+ ions were prepared in a (1:2) ratio, with the general formula [M(L)2]. The obtained complexes were characterized using flame atomic absorption, CHN analysis, FT-IR, and UV-Vis spectroscopy, in addition to magnetic susceptibility and conductivity measurements. The findings suggest that the ligand functions as a bidentate, with the complexes exhibiting octahedral, square planar and square pyramidal geometries. All the complexes were identified as non-electrolytes. Their antioxidant ef

Show MoreThis study aims to prepare new compounds and investigate them spectroscopically and biologically against selected types of positive and negative bacteria and fungi to demonstrate their biological effectiveness. The prepared ligand combining formaldehyde, indole, sulfa benzamide, and 2-mercapto benzimidazole, a Mannich base ligand (L) was synthesized. The six metal ions including Cobalt (II), Nickel (II), Copper (II), Palladium (II), Platinum (IV), and gold (III) have interacted with the ligand and formed new complexes. Different spectroscopic methods, including C.H.N.S., FTIR, UV- Range visible, 1HNMR, 13CNMR, mass spectra, magnetic moment, and molar conductivity were used to suggest the new geometry of the complexes. The three new ligands (L1,L2 and L3) were synthesis by reacting one mole of 3-aminoacetophenone with one mole of (Acetyl chloride), (benzoyl chloride), (4-methoxybenzoyl chloride) and ammonium thiocyanat in acetone as a solvent, they are:- L1 (AAA) =[N-(3-acetylphenylcarbamothioyl)acetamide] L2 (BAA) =[N-(3-acetylphenylcarbamothioyl)benzamide] L3 (MAA) =[N-(3-acetylphenylcarbamothioyl)-4-methoxy benzamide] Also three new derivatives of 4-aminoantipyrine were synthesis by reacting one mole of 4-aminoantipyrine with one mole of (Acetyl chloride), (benzoyl chloride), (4-methoxybenzoyl chloride) and ammonium thio

The structure of ligand and complexes were confirmed on the basis of their analytical and spectral data, these dyes were tested as dyeing in cotton fabric, and also testing in light and cleaner firmness. Also, antimicrobial and antifungal activities of ligand and their complexes were evaluated and the results showed that the ZnL compound showed the higher antibacterial activity with inhibition zone of 13mm against Staphyloco-ccus epidermidis, Steptococcus sp. and Escherichia coli compared with ligand and other metal complexes .In case of ZnL compound the antifungal acti
