The Impact of the Chlorhexidine Gel (WISDOM®) on Postoperative Sequelae Associated with the Surgical Removal of Impacted Mandibular Third Molars: A Randomized Controlled Clinical Trial
...Show More Authors

Background: One of the most prevalent procedures in oral surgery is the removal of impacted mandibular third molars, typically accompanied by trismus, edema, and pain. Several methods and biomaterials were implemented to mitigate or avoid these surgical problems. Objectives: To evaluate the efficiency of chlorhexidine gel (WISDOM®) in minimizing postoperative sequelae associated with the impacted mandibular third molar that will be surgically extracted and its role in promoting early soft tissue closure of the surgical site. Methods: The study design was a double-masked and randomized, controlled clinical study that included healthy patients needing the removal of a mandibular third molar through surgery. The participants were randomly assigned to two groups. The extraction site of the study group was filled with a mixture of gel foam and WISDOM®. In contrast, we filled the extraction sites of the control group patients with gel foam and sutured the surgical sites for both groups. The patients were evaluated on the first, third, and seventh postoperative days for pain, swelling, trismus, and early soft tissue healing. Results: Sixty eligible patients were enrolled in this study. The study group exhibited a statistically significant decrease in pain, edema, trismus, and early soft tissue healing on the first, third, and seventh postoperative days compared to the control group. Conclusions: WISDOM® gel can effectively reduce postoperative pain, trismus, and swelling and promote early soft tissue healing after surgical removal of an impacted mandibular wisdom tooth.

Comparison of Deep Neural Network Models (LSTM, Bi-LSTM, GRU and Bi-GRU) for Gold Price Prediction
...Show More Authors

This research studies the comparison of deep neural network models and performance evaluation to predict the gold prices of time series, where the gold prices contain high fluctuations and non-linear patterns that are difficult to capture using traditional models, which makes predicting them a significant challenge. Therefore, the focus was on using deep learning models represented by (LSTM), (Bi-LSTM), (GRU) and (Bi-GRU). The results showed the superiority of the (Bi-GRU) model according to comparison criteria (MSE), (RMSE), (MAE), and (R∧2) compared to other models because it was able to understand the time patterns better by processing the data in both directions and provided superior performance, which indicates its effectiveness, eff

Reveal by genotyping and phenotyping methods of some Metallo- Beta Lactamases genes among environmental Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates
...Show More Authors

Background: Since carbapenems are currently the preferred treatment for severe infections brought on by multidrug-resistant bacteria which can create Extended-Spectrum β-Lactamases (ESBLs), it is extremely concerning that Gram-negative bacteria are becoming resistant to carbapenem. It has been demonstrated that Klebsiella pneumoniae produces a beta-lactamase that hydrolyses the β-lactam ring in antibiotics, making it one of the few bacteria which are currently exhibiting a high value of resistance because of changing in the organism's core genome. Methods: For the current study, 50 samples were gathered from different water sources, and based on morphological and biochemical testing, 10 isolates were determined to be K. pneumoniae. Accord

In-vivo examination of nasal-to-brain administration for delivering rhodamine B nanospanlastic for fluorescent vesicle imaging
...Show More Authors

This study investigated the efficacy of nasal injection of rhodamine B nanospanlastic (RBN) for magnetic vesicle imaging of specific brain locations. Effective delivery of RBN, which functions as fluorescence agents, to specific brain regions is necessary to achieve fluorescence particle imaging (FPI). There has been interest in nasal administration as a means of administering drugs directly to the brain, thereby circumventing the blood-brain barrier. We offered experimental nasal fluorescence agent administration by in vivo research. Fluorescent tests confirmed that, upon nasal delivery, the intended nanospanlastic migrated into the brain. Furthermore, using fluorescent microscopy, we demonstrated how these nanospanla

Isolation and identification of pathogenic bacteria from drinking tap water and Tigris River water sources in Baghdad
...Show More Authors

Water is a resource and a crucial aspect of living and surviving. In Iraq, the Tigris River is one of the most critical water sources. The present study aimed to provide an insight analysis of some water quality parameters including the microbial content of drinkable tap water and river water. Ten Water samples (T1- T10) in triplicate were collected from sampling sites -Site I (Tap water) from home water taps, supplied by the Water Filtration Station/ Al Karama Project/ Al-Karkh> 10 from Site II (R1- R10)River water from Tigris River (around or near the Water Filtration Station/ Al Karama Project) every week (from September to half of November 2022), then were immediately placed in sterile bottles and transported to Microbiolo

Isolation and Molecular Identification and Antimicrobial Susceptibility of Providencia spp. from Raw Cow’s Milk in Baghdad, Iraq
...Show More Authors

A total of sixty raw milk samples were collected from (street vendors and shops) from Baghdad city, Iraq. The samples were inoculated into peptone water and, then, subcultured onto MacConkey agar and Blood agar. Identification of isolates was confirmed by microscopic examination, cultural characteristic, biochemical tests, Vitek (VITEK®2 system), and Biolog GN substrate reactions followed by 16S rRNA and specific genes sequencing. Of 60 raw cow’s milk samples, Providencia spp. were identified only in 4 samples (6.67%) and P. rettgeri was the most common, 2/4 (50%), followed by P. stuartii and P. vermicola, 1/4 (25%). Antimicrobial susceptibility tests were conducted against ten antibiotics by the disc diffusion method. All Provid

Assessment of dose‐volume histogram statistics using three‐dimensional conformal techniques in breast cancer adjuvant radiotherapy treatment
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Objective

Breast cancer (BC) is first of the top 10 malignancies in Iraq. Dose‐volume histograms (DVHs) are most commonly used as a plan evaluation tool. This study aimed to assess DVH statistics using three‐dimensional conformal radiotherapies in BC in an adjuvant setting.

Methods

A retrospective study of 70 histologically confirmed women diagnosed with BC was reviewed. The study was conducted between November 2020 and May 2021, planning for treatment with adjuvant three‐dimensional conformal radiotherapies. The treatment plan used for each woman was based on an analysis of the volumetric dose, inclu
