This study demonstrates a sustainable, "trash-to-treasure" approach by synthesizing silica (SiO2) and alumina (Al2O3) nanoparticles (30–80 nm) from local waste materials—specifically bentonite clay and aluminum wire waste—and evaluating their performance as eco-friendly additives in 350 mL water-based drilling fluids at concentrations ranging from 0 to 1 g. Tested under harsh subsurface conditions, the incorporated nanoparticles significantly enhanced the fluids' rheological properties, lubricity, filtration control, and swelling inhibition, with performance scaling alongside nanoparticle concentration. In this paper, preliminary test Shrinkage estimator have been considered for estimating the shape parameter α of pareto distribution when the scale parameter equal to the smallest loss and when a prior estimate α0 of α is available as initial value from the past experiences or from quaintance cases. The proposed estimator is shown to have a smaller mean squared error in a region around α0 when comparison with usual and existing estimators.

The esterification of oleic acid with 2-ethylhexanol in presence of sulfuric acid  as homogeneous catalyst was investigated in this work to produce 2-ethylhexyl oleate (biodiesel) by using semi batch reactive distillation. The effect of reaction temperature (100 to 130°C), 2-ethylhexanol:oleic acid molar ratio (1:1 to 1:3) and catalysts concentration (0.2 to 1wt%) were studied. Higher conversion of 97% was achieved with operating conditions of reaction temperature of 130°C, molar ratio of free fatty acid to alcohol of 1:2 and catalyst concentration of 1wt%. A simulation was adopted from basic principles of the reactive distillation using MATLAB to describe the process. Good agreement was achieved.
