In vitro periodontal ligament cell expansion by co-culture method and formation of multi-layered periodontal ligament-derived cell sheets
...Show More Authors

Objective: Per-implantitis is one of the implant treatment complications. Dentists have failed to restore damaged periodontium by using conventional therapies. Tissue engineering (stem cells, scaffold and growth factors) aims to reconstruct natural tissues. The paper aimed to isolate both periodontal ligament stem cells (PDLSCs) and bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMMSCs) and use them in a co-culture method to create three-layered cell sheets for reconstructing natural periodontal ligament (PDL) tissue. Materials and methods: BMMSCs were isolated from rabbit tibia and femur, and PDLSC culture was established from the lower right incisor. The cells were co-cultured to induce BMMSC differentiation into PDL cells. Cell morphology, stem cells and PDL-specific markers (CD90, CD34, and periostin) were also detected using immunofluorescent assay. Co-cultured cell monolayers were detached using temperatureresponsive tissue culture dishes and collagen graft to create the three-layer construct. The 3D-engineered tissue was examined histologically and by field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). Results: BMMSCs co-cultured with PDLSCs successfully induced more PDL cells. The newly induced PDL cells exhibited periostin and CD90 expression. Fluorescence green intensity was measured for the cocultured cells that were stained with periostin, the mean fluorescence green intensity (periostin expression) was significantly higher for the newly induced PDL cells after 1, 2, and 3 weeks when compared with control (BM-MSCs), at 21 days non-significant difference was measured when compared with control (PDLSCs). The results showed the successful formation of 3D multilayer PDL tissue. Histological cross-section showed cell sheets and the stable adhesion between them. FESEM examination was conducted for the cross-section, showing three-layered cell sheets with stable adhesion between cells. Conclusions: The results of this paper report that the three layered-cell sheets were successfully constructed by the novel use of collagen graft as a scaffold to be used in treatment of periodontitis and to envelop the dental implants to create biohybrid implant

Periodontal Disease: A Predictive Profile
...Show More Authors

Periodontal diseases such as gingivitis and periodontitis are considered common diseases. This study is aimed to predicate these diseases using non-harmful specimens such as saliva throughout the detection of some parameters. In the beginning, a random 51 patients' saliva was collected from outpatients who suffered from different degrees of periodontal diseases. Concurrently, another 40 people who appeared to be healthy were collected, and both patients and healthy people were subjected to a questionnaire form and diagnosed by a specialist dentist. The results of this study revealed that there is no significant difference between males and females in infection with periodontal diseases. As well, smoking is not acting as the m

The association of crevicular albumin level with the severity of periodontal destruction in chronic periodontitis patients after initial periodontal treatment
...Show More Authors

Background: Gingival crevice fluid (GCF) is a mixture of substances derived from serum, leukocytes, and structural cells of periodontium and oral bacteria. These substances possess a great potential for serving as indicators of periodontal disease and healing after therapy the main purpose of this study was to find if there is a difference in albumin concentration between healthy and diseased periodontal tissues and to compare between diseased group according to pocket depth Materials and methods: total sample composed of 60 pockets found in 35 patients all of them had no history of any systemic disease, The samples were divided in to three main group that include two diseased groups divided according to the depth of the periodontal pocket

MCNet: Mask Cell of Multi Class Deep Network for Blood Cells Detection and Classification
...Show More Authors

Physicians are likely to expend significant labor and time while manually calculating blood smears. Automatic computer-based methods for classifying acute lymphoblastic leukemia have trouble correctly lighting stained white blood cell microscopy images and accurately separating cells that touch or overlap. Additionally, incorporating machine learning techniques into medical services is very hard because doctors can deal with rough guesses as long as the results aren't too bad, but they can't use these calculations for actual medical care. Enabling a A deep network having knowledge of the accuracy of its own predictions is a fascinating and crucial issue. Most instances segmentation frameworks weigh the mask quality during the instance

Potential role of periodontal pathogens in compromising epithelial barrier function by inducing epithelial‐mesenchymal transition
...Show More Authors
Background and Objective

Epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) is a process by which epithelial cells acquire a mesenchymal‐like phenotype and this may be induced by exposure to gram‐negative bacteria. It has been proposed that EMT is responsible for compromising epithelial barrier function in the pathogenesis of several diseases. However, the possible role of EMT in the pathogenesis of periodontitis has not previously been investigated. The aim of this study therefore was to investigate whether gram‐negati

Cytotoxic Activity of CuO NPs Prepared by PLAL Against Liver Cancer (Hep-G2) Cell Line and HdFn Cell Lines
...Show More Authors

A simple physical technique was used in this study to create stable and cost-effective copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles from pure copper metal using the pulsed laser ablation technique. The synthesis of crystalline CuO nanoparticles was confirmed by various analytical techniques such as particle concentration measurement using atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), the energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) to determine the crystal size and identify of the crystal structure of the prepared particles. The main characteristic diffraction peaks of the three samples were consistent. The corresponding 2θ is also consistent, and the cytotoxicity of the nanoparticles was

Mechanisms of cancer cell death induction by triptolide
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>Drug resistance is a hot topic issue in cancer research and therapy. Although cancer therapy including radiotherapy and anti‐cancer drugs can kill malignant cells within the tumor, cancer cells can develop a wide range of mechanisms to resist the toxic effects of anti‐cancer agents. Cancer cells may provide some mechanisms to resist oxidative stress and escape from apoptosis and attack by the immune system. Furthermore, cancer cells may resist senescence, pyroptosis, ferroptosis, necroptosis, and autophagic cell death by modulating several critical genes. The development of these mechanisms leads to resistance to anti‐cancer drugs and also radiotherapy. Resistance to therapy can increase mortal</p> ... Show More

Association Between Periodontal Disease and Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Diseases: Revisited
...Show More Authors

Atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (ACVD) is an inflammatory disease of the coronary arteries associated with atheroma formation, which can cause disability and often death. Periodontitis is ranked as the sixth most prevalent disease affecting humans affecting 740 million people worldwide. In the last few decades, researchers have focused on the effect of periodontal disease (PD) on cardiovascular disease. The aim of this review was to investigate the association between these two diseases. PD is a potential risk factor that may initiate the development, maturation, and instability of atheroma in the arteries. Two mechanisms were proposed to explain such association, either periodontal pathogens directly invade bloodstream or in
