يتناول هذا البحث موقف ( صحيفة الاهرام) المصرية من تطورات الصراع في جمهورية الكونغو الديمقراطية خلال الفترة (1964 -1965) وهي مرحلة اتسمت باحتدام الازمات السياسية والنزاعات الداخلية في الكونغو مع زيادة التدخل الاجنبي في شؤون البلاد المتمثل بالولايات المتحدة الامريكية وبلجيكا وعلى هذا الاساس تم اختيار موضوع البحث والذي حددت بدايته بالتزامن مع عودة مويس تشومبي الى السلطة ، وما رافقها من صراعات وتمردات في الاقاليم الكونغولية (مثل كييفو وكويلر وستانلي فيل )، والتي واجهتها حكومة الكونغو المركزية باستخدام العنف والاعتماد بقوات المرتزقة الاجنبية والتي جمعها مويس تشومبي من بلدان مختلفة لمواجهة الثوار الكونغوليين، في حين تم اختيار العام 1965 ليكون نهاية لفترة البحث نظراً لانتهاء الصراع المستمر بين القيادات الكونغولية إثر انقلاب عسكري قاده جوزيف موبوتو، والذي أفضى إلى انفراده بالحكم وتشكيل حكومة جديدة بدعم من الولايات المتحدة الأمريكية ، حرصت صحيفة الاهرام على التغطية المستمرة والدورية لتلك الاحداث ، باعتبارها البوصلة الاعلامية المعبرة عن التوجهات السياسية لمصر الداعمة لحركات التحرر الإفريقي في مواجهة ظاهرة الاستعمار الجديد، الذي يُمارس هيمنة غير مباشرة سياسياً واقتصادياً على الدول النامية مستغلاً أزماتها المالية واعتمادها على المساعدات الخارجية.

United States desired to weaken British influences in the region in general to get new oil gains in the Arabian Gulf and Egypt at the expense of Britain. The exiting of Britain from the area served U.S. strategic interests in the Middle East in general and Egypt in particular to keep the flow of oil for U.S advantage.
