Changing in the Response of Maize Genotypes to Sowing Dates
...Show More Authors
Abstract<p>A field experiment was carried out in the Field Crops Department at the College of Agricultural Engineering Sciences-University of Baghdad for the autumn season 2023, with the goal of evaluating and performance of various genotypes of maize under different sowing dates, and the study included (MgW16, Nad H965, Nad it 706, Nad it 2525) with four single crosses (2 × 1), (3 × 1), (4 ×1), (3× 2) and four three way crosses (3×2 × 1),(4×2 × 1), (4×3 × 1), (Nad it 25 × 3 × 1) and four synthetic varities (Nad H25 × 3 ×2 ×1), (Baghdad), Al-Ezz and Tigris. The genotypes are planted with three agricultural dates (10, 20 and 30 July) and are compared according to the randomized complete Block design ((RCBD) and three replicates and split plot rearrangement. The sowing dates are placed in the main plots. While the genotypes were placed in sub-plots. The results showed that there are significant differences between the traits of growth under the sowing dates, where the third date (July 30) exceeded in the traits (the number of days of planting to 75% flowering, silking and plant height) where it gave (51.65, 61.77) and (177.43 cm) sequentially. Moreover, the Nad H965 was scored the highest values in the flowering and Biomass about (53.33, 60.11 cm, 1690.13 g) sequentially. However, the single crosss (3× 2) exceeded in plant height, number of leaves, leaf area and Biomass by scored (174.69 cm, 12.78, 8.434 cm and 1540.10 gm per plant. In addition to, the three way –cross ((4× 2)× (1) exceeded in number of leaves and Biological yield (12.82 leaf-1, 1378.00 gm) respectively. While, the synthetic cultivar (Al-Ezz) was exceeded in the plant height, ear height, and number of leave, leaf area and Biomass by scored (280.42 cm, 14.12 leaf, ‘1917.57 gm) respectively. We are concluded to sowing dates the Nad it 2525 under D2 because that is scored the highest rate of dry matter due to the ability of assimilates from source to sink.</p>

Synthesis, Structural Investigation and Biological Activity of a Heterocyclic Schiff-Base Ligand and Its Coordination Complexes
...Show More Authors

This study reports the formation, characterisation and biological evaluation of a Schiff base ligand and its corresponding metal complexes. The Schiff base ligand (HL) was prepared through a condensation reaction involving isonicotinohydrazide and N'-((1R,2R,4R,5S, E)-2,4-bis(4-chlorophenyl)-3-azabi cyclo[3.3.1]nonan-9-ylidene) isonicotinohydrazide (M) in EtOH solvent and (3-5) drops of conc. HCl. The interaction of HL with selected metal chlorides including Mn(+2), Co(+2), Ni(+2), Cu(+2) and Zn(+2) in a 2:1 (L:M) mole ratio resulted in the synthesis of complexes with the general formula [M(HL)Cl2] (where: M = Mn(+2),Co(+2) and Ni(+2)) and [M`(HL)Cl2] (where M` =  Cu(+2) and Zn(+2)). The characterisation of the prepared compounds w

Assessment of Six Polymorphic Variants as Genetic Risks for Coronary Artery Disease: A Case–Control Study
...Show More Authors
Abstract
<title>Background:

Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of death worldwide. Certain genetic polymorphisms play an important role in this multifactorial disease, being linked with increased risk of early onset CAD.

Objective:

To assess six genetic polymorphisms and clinical risk factors in relation to early onset nondiabetic Iraqi Arab CAD patients compared to controls.

Materials and Methods:

This case–contro

Marginal Discrepancy and Fracture Resistance of CAD/CAM Ceramill Sintron Metal Copings with Different Porcelain Materials
...Show More Authors

Background: This study was performed to compare the marginal fit changes and facture resistance of metal ceramic crowns constructed from Ceramill Sintron metal coping veneered with three different porcelain veneering materials (Vita Master Koromikos VMK, Willi Geller Creation CC and GC initial MC), also to evaluate the influence of thermocycling on load at fracture. Materials and Methods: Master brass die was scanned ,then metal coping was designed and milled from Ceramill Sintron blank to get 60 metal copings, then divided randomly into three groups(20 sample), then veneered with porcelain: VITA, Creation or GC. The marginal gaps were measured before and after porcelain veneering then marginal fit changes was calculated. Fracture resist

Cultivation of Chlorella Vulgaris Using Airlift Photobioreactor Sparged with 5%CO2-Air as a Biofixing Process
...Show More Authors

The present paper addresses cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris microalgae using airlift photobioreactor that sparged with 5% CO2/air. The experimental data were compared with that obtained from bioreactor aerated with air and unsparged bioreactor. The results showed that the concentration of biomass is 0.36 g l-1 in sparged bioreactor with CO2/air, while, the concentration of biomass reached to 0.069 g l-1 in the unsparged bioreactor. They showed also that aerated bioreactor with CO2/air gives more biomass production even the bioreactor was aerated with air. This study proved that application of sparging system for cultivation of Chlorella vulgaris microalgae using either CO2/air mixture or air has a significant growth rate, since the biorea

Spectrophotometric Determination of Co(II) by Using Ethyl Cyano(2-Methyl Carboxylate Phenyl Azo Acetate) (ECA)
...Show More Authors

A new simple and sensitive spectrophotometric method for the determination of trace amount of Co(II) in the ethanol absolute solution have been developed. The method is based on the reaction of Co(II) with ethyl cyano(2-methyl carboxylate phenyl azo acetate) (ECA) in acid medium of hydrochloric acid (0.1 M) givining maximum absorbance at ((λmax = 656 nm). Beer's law is obeyed over the concentration range (5-60) (μg / ml) with molar absorptivity of (1.5263 × 103 L mol-1 cm-1) and correlation coefficient (0.9995). The precision (RSD% ˂ 1%). The stoichiometry of complex was confirmed by Job's method which indicated the ratio of metal to reagent is (2:1). The studied effect of interference elements Zn(II), Cu(II), Na(I), K(I), Ca(II) and Mg

Constructed Wetland Units Filled with Waterworks Sludge for Remediating of Wastewater Contaminated with Congo Red Dye
...Show More Authors

The disposal of textile effluents to the surface water bodies represents the critical issue especially these effluents can have negative impacts on such bodies due to the presence of dyes in their composition. Biological remediation methods like constructed wetlands are more cost-effective and environmental friendly technique in comparison with traditional methods. The ability of vertical subsurface flow constructed wetlands units for treating of simulated wastewater polluted with Congo red dye has been studied in this work. The units were packed with waterworks sludge bed that either be unplanted or planted with Phragmites australis and Typha domingensis. The efficacy of present units was evaluated by monitoring of DO, Temperature, COD
