This study investigates the boundary between the Upper Cretaceous Kometan (Turonian–Campanian) and Shiranish (Late Campanian–Maastrichtian) formations at the Sarchinar and Goizha surface sections in the Sulaymaniyah area, northeastern Iraq, in order to refine their biostratigraphic framework and reconstruct the depositional evolution across the formation boundary. A field-pilot scale slow sand filter (SSF) was constructed at Al-Rustamiya Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) in Baghdad city to investigate the removal efficiency in terms of Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD5), Chemical oxygen demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS) and Chloride concentrations for achieving better secondary effluent quality from this treatment plant. Among various translation methodologies, Mona Baker’s bottom-up equivalency approach is unique in several ways. Baker’s translation approach is a multistep process. It starts with studying the smallest linguistic unit, “the word”, and then evolves above the level of words leading to the translation of the entire text. Equivalence at the word level, i.e., word for word method, is the core point of Baker’s approach.
