Prof Dr Mahmoud Saleh Al-Khafaji is a professor in the field of Civil Engineering with a specialization in water resources engineering. He obtained his PhD in Civil Engineering, specifically in water resources engineering, from the University of Technology in Baghdad, Iraq. Al-Khafaji has an extensive academic and research background. He held the position of Head of Water Desalination Researches Unit and served as the Head of Water and Hydraulic Structures Engineering Branch at the University of Technology. He has also been a faculty member in the Civil Engineering Department at Al-Nahrain University in Baghdad, Iraq. Currently, he is a faculty member in the Department of Water Resources Engineering at Baghdad University, Baghdad, Iraq. In addition, he is a member of the consultancy team of the Bureau of Prime Minister's Advisor for Scientific, Academic Affairs, and Artificial Intelligence. Prof. Al-Khafaji is an expert in various areas related to water resources engineering. His expertise includes the modeling and management of water resources systems, application of remote sensing in water resources engineering, design and construction of hydraulic structures, evaluation and management of irrigation systems, and the sustainable management of wetlands. In addition to his academic achievements, Dr Al-Khafaji has actively contributed to the field through his participation in several international conferences and the publication of fifty-eight papers. He has also been involved in fifty four consultancy jobs, showcasing his practical expertise and engagement with real-world projects.
