The present study investigates the removal of the textile dyehouse wastewater [azo dye para red(reactive dye)and M-5R200%(disperse oranges dye)] by Electrocaogulation process. The effect of nature of the anode, current density, initial pH, rate of stirring and concentration of dyes on the removal efficiency were tested.
The experimental results showed that the color of dyes in the aqueous solution was effectively removed when aluminum was used as anodes and the current density 25mA/cm2 , initial pH (3-9),stirring rate 200rpm, and the concentration of dyes was less than 100mg/l. When the concentration of reactive dye exceeded 300mg/l iron was a more suitable anode than aluminum.

This paper presents a neural network based surface finish Prediction model in turning operation .
Orthogonal cutting tests were performed on mild steel using H.S.S cutting tool with different
cutting parameters cutting speed ,

The escalating cost of construction projects combined with the competitive nature of the construction
industry requires the constant search for methods to increase the efficiency of such projects through
the elimination of unnecessary costs while maintaining as well as improving levels of quality and
performance desired.
Value Engineering (VE) offers an opportunity to achieve these goals, however, VE utilization by the
construction industry in Iraq remains limited as hypothesized by the researchers. Hence, the reasons
for this condition are worthy of investigation .Based on that, this research work has attempted to
examine the current status of implementation of value engineering methodology 'within the
This paper describes a newly modified wind turbine ventilator that can achieve highly efficient ventilation. The new modification on the conventional wind turbine ventilator system may be achieved by adding a Savonius wind turbine above the conventional turbine to make it work more efficiently and help spinning faster. Three models of the Savonius wind turbine with 2, 3, and 4 blades' semicircular arcs are proposed to be placed above the conventional turbine of wind ventilator to build a hybrid ventilation turbine. A prototype of room model has been constructed and the hybrid turbine is placed on the head of the room roof. Performance's tests for the hybrid turbine with a different number of blades and different values o

simplified grillage method. The cellular plate structure in this study consists of top and bottom
flange plates (non-parallel) separated by longitudinal webs having varying depth. A variational

derivation of the stiffness matrix of the grillage members for various warping restraint effects. The
effect of warping restraint in stiffness is included by two methods, firstly; the implicit method

Simulation of naturally fractured reservoirs is a laborious techniques, because there are two different porous media in which fluids exist and flow. The porous media exhibit wide variations in their physical properties. The matrix usually represents the major storage capacity while the fractures system provides the main paths of the flowing fluids. Several simulators have been constructed by specialist companies. One is the SimBestII, which is the product of Scientific Software- Intercomp. In order to simulate a reservoir properly by such simulator, one should have an idea about the equations and the procedures encountered in it.
In the present study, an attempt has been made to understand the general structure of SimBestll. The flow
This research represents a practical attempt applied to calibrate and verify a hydraulic model for the Blue Nile River. The calibration procedures are performed using the observed data for a previous period and comparing them with the calibration results while verification requirements are achieved with the application of the observed data for another future period and comparing them with the verification results. The study objective covered a relationship of the river terrain with the distance between the assumed points of the dam failures along the river length. The computed model values and the observed data should conform to the theoretical analysis and the overall verification performance of the model by comparing i

The mathematical model is based on the heat conduction equation associated with a fixed grid, latent heat source approach. The fully implicit time scheme is selected to represent the time discretization. The ice conductivity is chosen
to be the value of the approximated conductivity at the interface between adjacent ice and water control volumes. The predicted temperature distribution, percentage melt fraction, interface location and its velocity is compared with those obtained from the exact analytical solution. A good agreement is obtained when comparing the numerical results of one
In this study, the dynamic modeling and step input tracking control of single flexible link is studied. The Lagrange-assumed modes approach is applied to get the dynamic model of a planner single link manipulator. A Step input tracking controller is suggested by utilizing the hybrid controller approach to overcome the problem of vibration of tip position through motion which is a characteristic of the flexible link system. The first controller is a modified version of the proportional-derivative (PD) rigid controller to track the hub position while sliding mode (SM) control is used for vibration damping. Also, a second controller (a fuzzy logic based proportional-integral plus derivative (PI+D) control scheme) is developed for both vibra

The effects of various parameters, such as the horizontal distance of excavation, depth of excavation and pile slenderness ratios are investigated. The experimental analysis results showed the effect of excavation is more remarkable as the horizontal distance of excavation becomes closer to the pile than half pile length. The effect of excavation diminishes gradually as the horizontal distance increases beyond that distance for all the investigated pile slenderness ratios and depths of excavation. The pile head deflection, settlement and bending moments along pile increase with decreasing horizontal d

reactor. Fenton reaction was used to degrade this component. Phenol (50 - 100 ppm) oxidation was carried out in the acidic medium range of (pH=2.7 - 5.8) under mild conditions of temperature (28 - 48°C), stochiometric excess percentage of H2O2 (S.EH2O2%) of (0 - 100%), and Fe(II) to phenol concentrations ratio of (0 - 0.63). The results indicate that the oxidation by Fenton reaction was an efficient method to eliminate phenol, also the amount of catalyst and temperature had the large effect on the phenol degradation. Finally the simple kinetic model for the reaction was established.

When the size of the structure is relatively large stoppage of concrete casting at certain locations is necessary. Stoppage of casting may also occurs due to sudden failure of mixing machines, or when the concrete stock ingredients runs out of materials, or when weather conditions do not permit casting operations to continue. If stoppage of concreting occurs, a joint between old and new concrete forms, it is then necessary to evaluate the horizontal shear capacity at the interface between old and new concretes to prevent progressive slip from taking place and to insure satisfactory performance of the structure.

Automatic detection and classification of cardiac arrhythmias is important for diagnosis of cardiac abnormality. This paper shows a method to accurately classify ECG arrhythmias through a combination of slantlet transform and artificial neural network (ANN). The ability of the slantlet transform to decompose signal at various resolutions allows accurate extraction of features from non-stationary signals like ECG. The low frequency coefficients, which contain the maximum information about the arrhythmia, were selected from the slantlet decomposition. These coefficients are fed to a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) artificial neural network which classifies the arrhythmias. In the present work the ECG data is taken from standard MIT- BIH datab

Desk-based research and laboratory analysis of soil and water samples results indicate that surface water and groundwater pollution from Al Mishraq site was significant at the time of its operation. The primary pollution source was the superheated water injection process, while the principal receptor is the River Tigris. Now that the plant is idle, this source is absent. Results show that the wall surface temperatures are affected by the imposed heat flux variation and Reynolds number variation. The variation of the local heat transfer coefficient and the mean Nusselt number are presented and analyzed. An empirical

The effect of fiber orientation angle of composite materials on the gear tooth root stresses is analytically investigated in order to select the required orientation of the fibers inside the gear tooth. which leads to improve the gear tooth strength. The effect of geometrical parameters (loaded or unloaded pressure angles, number of teeth, radius of fillet and profile correction) and type of fibers glass, graphite and boron) are also studied. A stress analysis using the finite element method is performed for reinforced gear subject to bending loads. The results indicate that there is an effect of the fiber orientation on the root stresses of the gear tooth, and also, there is a direct proportionality between the improving of the gear str
