The main objective of this work is to propose a new routing protocol for wireless sensor network employed to serve IoT systems. The routing protocol has to adapt with different requirements in order to enhance the performance of IoT applications. The link quality, node depth and energy are used as metrics to make routing decisions. Comparison with other protocols is essential to show the improvements achieved by this work, thus protocols designed to serve the same purpose such as AODV, REL and LABILE are chosen to compare the proposed routing protocol with. To add integrative and holistic, some of important features are added and tested such as actuating and mobility. These features are greatly required by some of IoT applications and im

The modern trend is to establish skin friction coefficients through laboratory experiments in which the factors influencing the results may be controlled quantitatively.
In this study strain controlled Direct Shear Tests were performed using shear to simulate the shear behavior area between concrete (foundation materials) and undisturbed over consolidated silty clay, to determine the shear strength of soil – foundation interface, considering the following variables : (1) Concrete
The aim of this paper is to integrate mobile phones into LANs by connecting the two parties and providing the mobile with a transparent access to the services and resources hosted by the LAN. Quick assessment of the typical related approaches for accessing LAN (like WLAN and Bluetooth BNEP) shows that they are inappropriate for mobile phones. The paper further inspects the LAN access approach based on Bluetooth PAN Profile and marking up its potential drawbacks. A modified approach is proposed and implemented by altering the access nature or model from peer-to-peer communication to a client/server service providing, and switching from BNEP to RFCOMM protocol.
The hydrodynamics behavior of gas - solid fluidized beds is complex and it should be analyzed and understood due to its importance in the design and operating of the units. The effect of column inside diameter and static bed height on the minimum fluidization velocity, minimum bubbling velocity, fluidization index, minimum slugging velocity and slug index have been studied experimentally and theoretically for three cylindrical columns of 0.0762, 0.15 and 0.18 m inside diameters and 0.05, 0.07 and 0.09 m static bed heights .The experimental results showed that the minimum fluidization and bubbling velocities had a direct relation with column diameter and static bed height .The minimum slugging velocity had an

Thus a WMSN will have the capability to transmit multimedia data, such as video and audio streams, still images, and scalar data from the environment. Most applications of WMSNs require the delivery of multimedia information with a certain level of Quality of Service (QoS). This is a challenging task because multimedia applications typically produce huge volumes of data requiring high transmission rates and extensive processing; the high data transmission rate of WMSNs usually leads to congestion, which in turn reduces the Quality of Service (QoS) of multimedia appli

Show MoreDifferent parameters were investigated to evaluate their effect on the process removal efficiency of COD and color, by using different H₂O concentration, UV power, multi-step addition of HO2, and air bubbling. As a result, the color can be removed completely within 20 minutes, and the COD removal of approximately 90% can be achieved within 40 minutes of UV illumination. This process favors the H₂O, addition in one step rather than in four steps. Supply of oxygen does not enhance the process removal efficiency. The overall result indicates that the operating cost (chemical and electricity) to reduce the COD to below 80 mg/l is 0.93 US$/m3
This paper studies the influence of temperature on the corrosion rate of coated AA6111 aluminum alloy used in vehicle bodies under static and vibration states. The vibration test system was collected laboratory and used for testing of five different types of paints (EASI, Numix, Lesonal, DENSO and Polaron paints) in the 5 % NaCl solution using immersion test method. Lesonal paint provided the best corrosion protection, while DENSO paints show large values of corrosion rate, other coatings exhibit moderate values. Model of paints corrosion was developed to characterize the corrosion processes occur at the surfaces. It is found that corrosion rate obtained at vibration cases is larger than static cases and vibration effect

The fatigue damage is a dangerous and could be considered as the most unwanted failure in the materials that are used to construct the engineering components. As composites take an advanced position in the industry of aircraft, marine and many other high performance components, because of their high ability and their light weight and for their strength, this forces us to find the deformation and data to give a good expectation for the composite behavior under fatigue and other types of damage. In this study the material used is the glass fiber with a polyester resin; the experiment used a device to force the composite to be under a bending fatigue through specified deflection and then the force is measured. The fixed bed breakthrough curves for the copper ions were investigated. The adsorption capacity for Cu (II) was investigated. It was found that 1) the exposure distance (E.D) and strength of magnetic field (B), affected the degree of adsorption; and 2) experiments showed that removal of Cu ions and accumulative adsorption capacity of adsorbent increase as the exposure distance and strength of magnetic field increase.
This research consists of two parts, the first part concern with analyzing the collected data of BOD and COD values in discharge waste water from Al-Dora refinery during 2010 to find the relationship between these two variables The results indicates that there

This study examined the effect of Temperature (T); flow rate(F); and pH ; on the zinc consumption as sacrificial anode in cathodic protection of steel pipe carrying saline solution (i.e., 0.5 M NaCl) using a 23 factorial design. Rates of zinc consumption during cathodic protection were measured by weight loss technique and it ranges from 7.5x10-3 to 98.9x10-3 g/cm2.day. For the system under investigation, the cell responsible for cathodic protection is Zn/NaCl/Fe .It was found that both temperature and flow rate increases the zinc consumption while pH decreases it sharply. It was found also that the interaction between the temperature and pH
is the dominant term compared with other interactions.

The grouted ground anchor is the most used geotechnical element to transfer the tension load from the superstructure or the soil mass in front of the potential failure surface (active zone) to a deeper, efficient soil layer for its reliability and feasibility. It was originally constructed by inserting the tendon, usually a steel strand, into an already drilled borehole filled with cement grout. It was successfully used in the Cheurfas dam in Algeria in (1934). According to the load transfer mechanism, there are two types of ground anchors: tension-type and compression-type. The names of these two types of anchors refer to the developed stresses in the grouted body. The present work presents a literature survey about t
