This study was conducted to investigate the dominate aerobic bacterial agents causing diarrhea in children
and study its susceptibility against some antibiotics.
For this goal, 460 stool specimens were collected from infected children aged from 1 month to 5 years at
Diwaniya teaching hospital for obstetrics and pediatrics from April up to November 2004, study include
also the evaluation of some factors (age, sex, and residence area) on infected with diarrhea.
Samples were cultured on different selective and differential media include blood agar, MacConkey agar
and S-S agar and identified them by using biochemical tests with ensuring the results by API-20E system

The antibacterial activity of bacteriocin produced by Lactobacillus acidophilus isolates against sensitive reference strain Lactobacillus acidophilus R0052 and its stability to different pH, heating and storage temperatures: Najim Hadi Najim , Zuhair Ahmad Mohammed , Zina Saab khudhir
...Show More Authors

Two isolates of Lactobacillus acidophilus were isolated from locally homemade soft cheese and identified in accordance with their main features as described by bergeys manual of determinative bacteriology .Agar well diffusion bioassay was used for the evaluation of antimicrobial activity of cell free supernatant (culture filtrates) of Lactobacillus acidophilus isolates against the sensitive strain Lactobacillus acidophilus R0052 and the diameter of the inhibition zone was proportional to the bacteriocin concentration. The antimicrobial activity of the bacteriocin was proportional to the reciprocal of the highest dilution factor producing a detectable zone of inhibition . The storage temperature of the crude bacteriocin had a significant(

The current study was carried out to investigate the immunological and hematological changes due to local transplantation of human umbilical cord-mesenchymal-stem cells (HUC-MSCs) and scaffold-stem cells (SSCs) into the injured radial nerve. Therefore, three equal groups of dogs were subjected to this study; experimental (EG), positive control (PCG) and negative control (NCG). At 1st week, dogs of EG were showed an obvious mobility dysfunction. At 2nd and 4th weeks, there were apparent improvements reported on general and physical activities as well as functional ability of forelimb with the presence of slight lameness that was cured completely at 5th week. Regarding to immunobiomarkers, insignificant differences were showed at 1st week.

An experiment has been carried out to evaluate a diatomaceous earth on performance and egg traits of Japanese quail. The diatomaceous earth used in the current trial was food grade which produced in Germany and is listed Generally Regarded As Safe. Eighty layer Japanese quail were randomly divided into 2 treatments from 16-20 weeks of age. Each treatment consisted 4 replicates (pens) of 10 birds each. The first treatment (control) contained a standard recommended diet with no added diatomaceous earth. The second treatment was the basal diet of the first treatment plus 1.5% diatomaceous earth in the feed. Feed and water were offered ad libitum from days 1 to 140. Egg production per pen was recorded daily. Egg traits were measured at the e

Footrot is a significant health problem in ruminants, especially sheep, caused by the bacteria Dichelobacter nodosus and Fusobacterium necrophorum. Infected animals may become lame and lose body condition. The aim of this study was to investigate whether sheep had mixed infections with D. nodosus and F. necrophorum, the global genetic relationships of both target genes (lktA and 16S rRNA genes) with different reference genes, and the degree of genetic heterogeneity between the standard serogroups of D. nodosus were studied. In addition, to detect the antibacterial sensitivity against these two pathogens. One hundred and sevent

The objective of this study was to estimate the concentration of serum pregnancy-associated glycoprotein (PAG) during gestation using sheep ELISA kit in order to early distinguish between pregnant and non-pregnant ewes and the possible association with litter size, and fetal gender. Estrus was synchronized and blood samples were collected at day 0 (day of mating), 18, 30, 60, and 120 after mating from 18 Iraqi cross breed synchronized ewes. The radio-isotop (Fe5%) was used to reveal the ferrokinetic pathway in the blood stream of sheep as a result of infection.

All lambs exposed to 100 metacercariae showed the chronic phase of the disease. Of the group exposed to 300 metacercariae, two lambs suffered the subacute phase and the remaining three had the chronic phase. Out of the five lambs given 600 metacercariae, four showed acute syndrom, while the fifth showed the subacute phase of the disease.
