Determination the causative strain for hydatid cyst in Iraqi cattle by using ND1 gene: Mohammed J. Muhaidi1, Maysam N. Ahmed1 and Mohammed T. Dagash2
...Show More Authors

Hydatid Cysts were obtained from 15 cows from liver, lung, spleen, heart, and peritoneal cavity, between December 2014 and October 2015. Hydatid cysts (protoscoleces) were used for deoxyribonucleic acid extraction by using mechanical grinder. The purification of mtDNA was done by (promega kit, USA). The mitochondrial NADH dehydrogenase subunit 1 (ND1) genes was used as targets for polymerase chain reaction amplification, all hydatid cysts yielded amplification products. Polymerase chain reaction product for NADH1 800 basic pair. The polymerase chain reaction products were purified and partial sequences were generated. The sequences obtained were found to align with corresponding region for ND1 g

The aim of this study was to evaluate virulence of local isolated avian infectious laryngotracheitis virus in experimentally infected chicken. Forty chickens 10 weeks old were used for the experimental infection with the locally isolated infectious laryngotracheitis virus. Chickens were divided into three groups, the first group consisted from 20 chickens infected with isolated infectious laryngotracheitis virus (2×104.16 TCID 50/50 µl) via eyes and mouth drops (one drop for each). The second group consisted of 10 chickens (non-infected) in contact with infected group inoculated with maintenance media (Minimum essential medium) on their eyes, to observe if the infected group can spread the virus.      This study was conducted to compare some of anatomical features and histological structure of the liver in three species of birds that varied in their size, taxonomy, and food environment. The study revealed that the liver in the mallard, gull and white-eared bulbul was bilobed big gland, and the left lobe was smaller than the right one. It was observed that the two lobes in mallard were undivided, while the right lobe in gull has two parts, whereas the left lobe in white-eared bulbul is subdivided into two parts. Histologically, the liver capsule in gull appeared thicker than other two species. The hepatic parenchyma was not shown to be clearly defined lobules in three species. The hepatocytes were organized rad

An investigation was carried out to detect anti-Brucella antibodies of sheep in Al-Anbar province by using few serological tests; rose Bengal plate test (RBPT) and tube agglutination test (TAT). A total of 754 sheep blood samples (94 Ram and 660 Ewe) were collected randomly distributed in Al-Anbar province from unvaccinated sheep flocks with different ages. A total percentage of infected sheep depending on RBPT was 10.21% with significant differences at (P< 0.01), it was 9.69% in ewes, whereas in rams it elevated to reach 13.82%, in addition to the disease was higher seroprevalence at > 3 years (12.78%) in both gender with significant differences at (P<0.05) than lower ages. Out of 77 RBPT positive sera, 38(49.35%) were positive

An infectious syndrome of broiler chickens characterized by. stunted growth, poor feathering, leg weakness, poor feed conversion, and loss of pigmentation of the skin. The syndrome was initially reported in Netherland (Kouwenhoven et al., 197848), and have since been described in England (Bracewell and Wyeth, 1981), U.S.A. (page et al., 1982), Australia (pass et al.,1982) and Canada (Riddell and Derow, 1982). The various names of the syndrome reflects the variety of clinical signs and gross lesions .observed, and although reported conditions share many clinical signs and pathological changes, it is not certain that all reports describe the same disease entity.
