From 2017 to 2019, 51 A. rabiei isolates were isolated from 259 chickpea fields across IKR. On different media, 32 isolates showed significant differences in morphological characteristics. The isolates were divided into six groups based on colony color, five groups on mycelium color and three groups on pycnidia color. CSMDA was the best media for mycelial growth. AS-28 significantly surpassed all other isolates in colony diameter despite media type. A. rabiei growth varied between 15-35°C, the maximum growth occured at 25°C and ceased at 35°C. The aims of this study were to evaluate the effect of four concentrations of Dimethylsulfate (DMS) 0%, 0.03%, 0.06% and 0.1% under four levels of salinity including 0, 30, 60 and 90 mmol NaCl L-1 on some biochemistry characters such as proline, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2), catalase (CAT), superoxide dismutase (SOD), chlorophyll a (Chl a), chlorophyll b (Chl b) and total chlorophyll. This study was conducted to investigate certain characteristics of the purified Phenylalanine ammonia lyase (PAL). The results revealed that the molecular weight was 180 kDa by gel filtration and Native-PAGE. The optimal pH and temperature for enzyme activity were 7 and 40 °C respectively. The enzyme activity was stable against pH values range of 6-8. The enzyme retained 79% of its total activity after incubation for one hour at 50 °C and retained 7% (lost 93%) of its activity at 70 °C. The entire activity was completely lost when the enzyme was incubated for 1 hour at temperatures over 70 °C. Carbohydrate content of the purified enzyme was estimated to be 24.61%.
